A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am melinda:

Swag For Life Member 9:08am Tiago from Portugal:

Good Morning Trouble, great start!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am Trouble:

steveo did you know that she made music also? I didn't, until i was looking for her flemish images last night and found her 'jitney' song. outstanding! I put up a link on my facebook page-This is the modern world with trouble
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am Trouble:

The jitney's just a fucking bus- www.youtube.com... not safe for work
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am steveo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am Threemoons:

@Trouble--HAH I took the "Shitney" out to a friend's place on the Island a lot a few summers ago; love that song/video...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am steveo:

i did see a great video piece she did where she lip syncs the bee gees; i don't think it's available online...
Avatar 9:33am Wild Neil:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am The Oscar:

Mornin'! I'm friends with Rob Noyes, who's on the other side of that split-- I don't think I know Alexander, but I could probably do some detectivework.
  9:41am this is tim:

wow, that jitney video had me seriously lol'n. no chuckle, but full-on out-loud laughing. thanks for the share.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am The Oscar:

Also I love what I've heard by Aniss and Lacanca-- I need to learn more!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43am steveo:

  9:44am Morgan:

They Lie...We...
  9:46am Listener Gregory:

Trouble, I wonder if it makes any difference what we say to the FCC. Isn't that a done deal? I think we have to go to Congress and get them to turn net neutrality into law.
  9:48am Listener Gregory:

By "done deal," I mean that they're going to vote for it no matter what. I know the reg hasn't been passed yet.
Avatar 9:49am Sem:

Bom dia, Trouble, and all coping with this modern world by being here.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am Passaic River Blues:

Isn't everybody glad Trump handed the FCC over to Verizon's lawyer? "Drain the swamp", indeed.
  9:55am Listener Robert:

I'm pleased with the results so far, PRB.

Meanwhile, was that last lyric, "...like a fish out of sand"? Very clever, I like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am Trouble:

waiting for the swamp monster to crawl out and eat its own
Avatar 9:59am Itzall Ablurr:

Apologies for loading up the board, but here's some useful information:
1. On a computer, (not your phone!), go to: www.fcc.gov...
2. Enter (under "Proceeding") the numbers 17-108.
3. In comments, say you support Title 2 oversight of ISPs. Also say that you support net neutrality.
As you said, who knows how much of/any of this will actually be seen, noted and acted upon, but what else can one do?
Avatar 10:01am Itzall Ablurr:

My emphasis for using a computer is due to the fact that the agency responsible for this have made it more difficult to use and inoperable on a cell phone, knowing how many people use their phones for, well 'bout everything.
  10:01am Mark Williams:

"Fish ouf of Sand" was a George Harrison cover, I do believe. I liked it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am steveo:

I need a thesaurus to try and think of new way to say I'm really enjoying this beautiful show of musical recordings. Maybe you could do a horrible show some time, for variety?
Avatar 10:08am βrian:

Est-ce qu'ils arrivent, les oiseaux ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08am Adrian in London:

On press deadline but enjoying the show…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am Mick:

Itzall - that was exactly my experience: when I tried to leave a message on the FCC site from my phone, it was maddening, but from a computer it went smoothly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am Passaic River Blues:

@Itzall Ablurr: done, and thank you, sir. As it was pointed out, it basically does not matter because Pai and the other two GOP commissioners are Verizon/cable company catamites, but I do enjoy shouting into the wind.
  10:11am Listener Gregory:

Thanks for the info @Itzall. In spite of my pessimism, I filed a comment.
Avatar 10:11am Sem:

Genius melody here, holds up beautifully w/ age.
Avatar 10:12am βrian:

Isn't that what they spread on their toast in the UK? Catamite?
  10:12am Listener Gregory:

If Congress every takes it up, perhaps it will be useful for them to know that 8m comments against the change were filed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am Greg from ZONE 5:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am Trouble:

passaic river blues: merci. reading natalia ginzburg right now. we are lookin to the wrong comparison for US nowadays : italy under mussolini is more apt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am Threemoons:

Tuning in from District 13....on my way to work today, was stuck waiting for the local train at Union Square...saw a rat give itself a bath in stagnant water on the tracks, and pass up a piece of orange peel for some discarded french fries...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Trouble:

@threemoons :welcome aboard the apoca-shuttle
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am Ken From Hyde Park:

"It's a rat race out there and the rats are winning." This is true, today more than ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am steveo:

@threemoons who will teach the rats good dietary habits?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Threemoons:

@Trouble--hey at least it's not the Shitney! ;) I am still a little disappointed by the rat passing over the much healthier orange peel for the fries....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Passaic River Blues:

@Trouble: sounds about right! Ginzburg seems like a really good idea for this modern world. "Family Sayings" is supposed to be aces--never read it and probably should.
Avatar 11:37am Itzall Ablurr:

I love Eclectic Crowbills.
  11:37am jt:

Props to DJ Olive.. !
Avatar 11:38am Sem:

Just returned from the garden. Above us here today is a clear blue-sky. Above, the North Atlantic flyway from Europe is filled, horizon to horizon, with the contrails of silver airships all headed south and west to the cities of the northeast. I've counted over thirty.
A flock of mourning doves I feed all winter arrived in full force this morning, just as the sun rose over the horizon. What a patient bunch. On the coldest winter mornings, the flock waits for the first rays of the sun. A life lesson, surely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am Nymor:

The Leila Gobi track was really cool ... a new musical genre to me - Desert Blues (from her bio on Clermont Music site)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am Trouble:

that sounds magical @sem. never seen a whole flock of mourning doves, usually i see them in pairs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am Threemoons:

@sem sounds lovely...where are you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am steveo:

perhaps the silver airships are headed to outer space...
Avatar 11:45am Sem:

Threemoons: on a tidal estuary of the Bay of Fundy here in Nova Scotia. About 600 miles as the * * flies from Jersey City.

Just chiming in to all the Troublettes/Troubleurs out there! Hi/bye!
  11:55am jt:

I was just thinking of Nina K. just the other day, she did this project~ way back when, maybe she was a grad student? A college parking lot in the morning : she and some helpers had every car park according to color.. or maybe 'hue' would be the graduate level term? Anyway I think of that parking lot from time to time and smile.
Avatar 11:56am Mary Wing:

Photos of what, though, Wild Neil? Kardashian selfies?
Avatar 11:57am Wild Neil:

@Mary Wing-friends and family and children! For my wife and mom and family friend! Anything you want I guess if you want to do it, you can even have the cover be a photo blown up to 8.5 x 11...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am steveo:

Thank you, Trouble! So good today.
Avatar 11:59am Mary Wing:

Oh, that is a good idea. Actually, a calendar of the Nina Katchadourian Flemish portraits would be cool, too.
