Hey Pseu
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm BronwynB:

i have a mental image of the thing from fantastic 4 yanking people offstage with a vaudeville hook
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm steveo:

Hi, Pseu -- I'm enjoying the show!
Avatar 12:12pm Number Six:

Hi Pseu & fellow listeners! Umm, does the shows title make us all "Hookers??
Avatar 12:13pm glenn:

no, we're the hookees. pseu's the hooker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm steveo:

i don't go to school, so how can I play hookee?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Watch it, though. There's a two-minute penalty for hooking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Hughie Considine:

Threemoons: it's the new live "For Sale"
Avatar 12:19pm V Priceless:

new Sparks rules!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Hughie Considine:

Sparks have never sounded better.
  12:20pm holland oats:

seeing them tonight oh yes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Scraps deSelby:

Threemoons, Hitchin a Ride is probably from For Sale: Live at Maxwells. At least, it appears there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm BronwynB:

I met Sparks last night at their record signing event at Rough Trade and got to tell them they're an inspiration to me!!! They were amazing!!! Such nice friendly beautiful people
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm BronwynB:

AND i get to see them at le poisson rouge on wednesday!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Threemoons:

If you didn't know, there's a Sparks film musical (directed by French arthouse fave Leos Carax) on the way...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm BronwynB:

aaah so excited about the film!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Scraps:

Anton Barbeau! Maybe Scott Miller?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Hughie Considine:

Seeing Sparks on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert simply blew my little Jethro Tull-worshipping mind back in 1975.
  12:33pm Samoan Nick:

wait, what is this... from...
Avatar 12:37pm Cheri Pi:

Hiya Pseu!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm BronwynB:

@hughie: i LOVE the sparks don kirshner show. i think maybe the applause is canned because it kinda seems like everyone is just sitting there staring at them. that was actually my first experience with them, because i first heard of them via the FFS collaboration and then i wanted to learn more about sparks so i looked them up on youtube and that was the first thing that came up. i heard something for the girl with everything and that was that. "hooked," as it were ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Hughie Considine:

Awesome, @bronwynB! There is no band remotely like them, and they have always been true to themselves. I liked FFS and some recent singles and one-offs, but the fact that they still have an LP this good in them is quite a testament. They're the kind of band that even rock's greatest curmudgeons, people like Johnny Lydon and Morrissey, sing the praises of. Check out Kimono My House and Propaganda!
  12:54pm Luisa24:

Love this Robyn H....THANK YOU!
  12:54pm Listener142985:

  1:01pm Technocrat Leech:

these hooks are fresh and hot
  1:03pm Websie:

ace Hole!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Hughie Considine:

Certainly one of the best and most hook-y Hole tracks -- also, who knew, but Tricky covers "Doll Parts" on his new LP.
Avatar 1:04pm Pseu Braun:

LEECH AND WEBSIE my beloved frenz
  1:04pm Ted:

This sounds better then I remember it. Much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Parq:

Steveo, you should have seen some of the beauties that were in this show last year.
Avatar 1:07pm Roberto:

I always liked that poppy later Hole album. Once I played it in the car on a road trip and my purist daughter said, THIS is the Hole album you bring?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm steveo:

@parq, oh I'm sorry I missed that. i do love the musical instruments at the met. It a shame to never _hear_ them though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm steveo:

@roberto A purist daughter sounds interesting, anyway.
Avatar 1:13pm Roberto:

She's very particular in her musical tastes.
Avatar 1:13pm Wild Neil:

PEACE all. My sorta open minded 14 year old son says he "hates pop music.". Who the hell hates pop music? Foriegner, Devo and Styx are some of the greats! As well as Adam Ant, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and U2. Geez! And what about The Beatles and The Rolling Stones!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Parq:

Roberto, what an absolutely terrific father-daughter story.
Avatar 1:14pm Roberto:

I've got a few of them.
Avatar 1:15pm Roberto:

Stories, that is. Well, and daughters. If you consider two a few.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Michael 98145:

i was so much older then, i'm younger than that now
Avatar 1:15pm βrian:

Pop gives him the pip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Michael 98145:

* bless you *
  1:23pm mauri:

youre great!
  1:26pm melinda:

@Neil I was anti-pop at 14, but I defined it narrowly and didn't put pop from previous decades into that category.
Avatar 1:27pm Roberto:

OK screw it, I'm favoriting this.
  1:28pm sonnyspop:

Great cover — cool choice, Pseu!
  1:29pm judy from croton:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm BronwynB:

@melinda: same
Avatar 1:30pm Wild Neil:

  1:31pm judy from croton:

Avatar 1:35pm Wild Neil:

OK I needed a new Adobe Flash Player. Whew!
Avatar 1:35pm Wild Neil:

Sugar sounds kinda like an acoustic Husker Dü.
  1:37pm Websie:

They were plugged in! Plus, y'know, had a guy from HuDu.
Avatar 1:38pm Wild Neil:

It kinda HURTS listening to my local classic rock station....it is SO nauseatingly predictable.
Avatar 1:38pm Wild Neil:

Its like the OPPOSITE of FMU. FMU hurts in other ways when it hurts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Parq:

Neil, WFMU is the opposite of commercial classic rock in every way imaginable except that both can be picked up on a conventional FM radio. In parts of NYC, even that similarity doesn't hold up.
Avatar 1:44pm Pseu Braun:

  1:45pm melinda:

FMU hurts in other ways when it hurts...haha
Avatar 1:45pm Roberto:

I think Neil's tapped into the essence of FMU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Michael 98145:

it only hurts when you stop
  1:54pm holland oats:

wait, is this song about cocaine?
  1:55pm melinda:

I pledged already.
  1:55pm BriJet:

Hello all!!! Yay Human League!!
  1:56pm Websie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Dennis Diken:

  1:57pm melinda:

Yeah I had forgotten about that Human League song, nice to hear it again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Parq:

A whole lot of clashing egos, that's what you get.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Michael 98145:

love that FF disc
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Threemoons:

Really liked the Filthy Friends track. I have the CD sitting in my apartment; have been too busy to have a relaxed listening to the whole thing; hope to fix that soon.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm steveo:

that's some impressive proportional-font ascii art!
  2:08pm Ajax Green:

Duets (2001) is awesome, it might be the world's only competitive karaoke movie? Paul Giamatti kills as a disaffected salesman!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Threemoons:

Other than the magic vajayjay crystals, don't forget the advice re steaming one's uterus and vulva (really) and the endless list of fake food allergies/everyday foods that will kill you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm BronwynB:

when i was a kid the girls were sometimes not allowed to play outside at recess in winter because our ovaries would get cold. i bet goop would think that was a great idea
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Threemoons:

Bronwyn are you shitting me? Wow....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Michael 98145:

- steaming - ?!?
Avatar 2:10pm BnowB:

@steveo lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Threemoons:

Michaal yep...as in squat over a special Goop herb bath thingie to detox and open your lady bits. As a lady person myself, I think Gwennyth is bananas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm BronwynB:

@threemoons: nope. i went to a waldorf school and that wasn't even the weirdest thing we had to deal with. we also weren't allowed to wear black. i did not like that.
Avatar 2:12pm BnowB:

lady parts and bananas... just thinking sorry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Threemoons:

Bronwyn--why did they link being goth to breast cancer or something???
  2:15pm Bob in Oakland:

We're vacationing in the UK and just checked in to our hotel in Manchester/Salford. One of the first things we did was to tune the FMU app to the show. It's sounding wonderful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Parq:

In general, there has been a disturbing abandonment of common sense as a factor in health regimens, especially when it comes to nutrition and personal hygiene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Michael 98145:

@BB, sure it wasn't a Hobbit school ? :)
Avatar 2:18pm BnowB:

lol @michale
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Parq:

It seems, the more odd and counter-intuitive a health neologism (if I can call it that) is, the more willing people are to embrace it.
Avatar 2:20pm BnowB:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm BronwynB:

@threemoons: it disturbed our auras or our chi or something
  2:21pm Ajax:

Also it's nuts how good that Brix album is!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Hughie Considine:

People love the idea of 'ridding the body of toxins.' It just sounds like something you'd like to do, but it's a load of tripe. (Tripe actually has toxins, i bet)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm BronwynB:

digging this eric carmen
Avatar 2:23pm Roberto:

Ho hum, another Eric Carmen song added to my favorites.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Michael 98145:

  2:25pm Stevel:

Please tell me the Eric Carmen song was pitched for the Marathon Man soundtrack.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Hughie Considine:

Can't imagine ABC's Wide World of Sports never tapped this for a montage sequence featuring Frank Shorter.
Avatar 2:27pm Pseu Braun:

This Eric Carmen song is the GREATEST.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm mrdonutsu:

I'll be running the NYC marathon next month. I'm afraid Eric Carmen won't be making the playlist cut! ;)
