Bells and whistles? I heard none.

BTW Hello Ladies!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm Richard S:

Is this Loews the one with the chandelier in the lobby?
Avatar 7:09pm kimzilla:

Yes! Pictures to follow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm Richard S:

I've been there! A special event double feature - Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Adventures of Robin Hood
Avatar 7:10pm cosmic matrix:

WWWOOWW this is already amazing. I wanna go!
Avatar 7:11pm cosmic matrix:

I can SMELL this place.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm Richard S:

@cosmic matrix: That's the mix of dust and tobacco smoke that's penetrated the woodwork.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm melinda:

omg, that's beautiful.
  7:14pm Cathy M.:

Love that organ music.
Avatar 7:15pm cosmic matrix:

pure bliss
  7:16pm dez:

loews is really THE BEST place!
  7:17pm Kate:

love the music, did you record it there?
Avatar 7:18pm cosmic matrix:

that bass!!!
Avatar 7:18pm kimzilla:

This Saturday, Sept. 23 Loew's will present two titles:

“Lilies of the Field” starring Sidney Poitier; 1963 -- at 6PM;

followed by

“Superman” starring Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder, Marlon Brando; 1978 -- at 8PM.
  7:21pm Emily:

Kate! WE didn't record it there, but it is a recording of an organist playing this very organ in this very theater!
Avatar 7:21pm cosmic matrix:

now we're talkin'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm Richard S:

I was there before the renovations had really begun. Our host mentioned that they thought the lobby chandelier had such lovely amber crystals. Then when they started cleaning it, they realized they were clear - the color was from decades of tobacco smoke.
Avatar 7:23pm TehBadDr:

Loves me The Landmark Theaters!
Avatar 7:23pm cosmic matrix:

organ is a bit loud.
Avatar 7:24pm cosmic matrix:

compared to this fellow's gentle voice. oh that's better
Avatar 7:24pm kimzilla:

“Lilies of the Field” starring Sidney Poitier; 1963 -- at 6PM;

“Superman” starring Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder, Marlon Brando; 1978 -- at 8PM.

What’s the connection in the shows the Loew's are playing? With all the terrible destruction from hurricanes in the news, we thought it would be reassuring to remember a couple of Supermen – one, a super hero; the other, just a man who does something super.

A portion of the proceeds from each screening will be donated to hurricane relief efforts.

Because of the short lead time, we won't be able to do a lot of advertising, so we're asking people to help spread the word on social media and the old fashioned way.

(Both will be screened digitally, also necessitated by the short lead time.)

it's alive!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm Richard S:

The 1978 Superman is STILL the BEST superhero movie.
Avatar 7:26pm TehBadDr:

Certainly it has a life of it's own, and the souls that still dwell there!
  7:27pm Emily:

Cosmic: you are so correct--we are still learning how to "bed music" effectively!
  7:27pm Kate:

Bob and the organ. Should be the name of a short story.
Avatar 7:28pm cosmic matrix:

It's tricky. Or you could use sidechain compression (ducking). Sounds great!
Avatar 7:28pm TehBadDr:

One might say, he's an organist!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm Richard S:

"Bob and his Happy Organ"
  7:28pm Kate:

oh Richard. . .
Avatar 7:29pm cosmic matrix:

Wild! Really cool. My hero.
Avatar 7:29pm TehBadDr:

Gotta give this guy some serious cred!
  7:30pm Emily:

Thank you!! Will have to look into the sidechain compression...
Avatar 7:30pm cosmic matrix:

Ooh, experimental panning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm Asheville Jon:

why are you guys so mad at Andy?
  7:32pm Emily:

Asheville Jon: how long do you have?? ;)
Avatar 7:32pm cosmic matrix:

Whoa!!! Those vocal registers!!!
Avatar 7:32pm TehBadDr:

Uh you should a have said, "put some earphones on"! Oh, but you did, I'll have to revisit with my Etyomics!
  7:32pm Emily:

That hissing is the organ in the background!
Avatar 7:33pm kimzilla:

This guys voice was so interesting. He is mostly deaf, but I don't know if that is why his voice is so unique.
Avatar 7:34pm TehBadDr:

Organs hiss, so do analog synths.
Avatar 7:34pm cosmic matrix:

Oooh! Electromechanical! But is that steam?
Avatar 7:34pm kimzilla:

you have to visit @IRLWFMU on twitter and see the video of him playing up close, its amazing!
  7:34pm Emily:

@TehBadDr: I didn't know that!
  7:35pm Cathy M.:

Not steam, just wind blowing through the system.
  7:35pm Emily:

It's the compressed air, I think? Going to the pipes...
  7:35pm Emily:

Right--thanks, Cathy M!
Avatar 7:36pm cosmic matrix:

Ah yes. Cooooool
  7:36pm dez:

such a beautiful setting!
Avatar 7:36pm TehBadDr:

Or voltage background noise!
Avatar 7:37pm kimzilla:

  7:38pm dez:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Asheville Jon:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Asheville Jon:

  7:39pm Emily:

@avlJon: nah, just an ongoing feud between two girls and the guy who won't stop insisting they wear bikinis on the air...SIGH.
Avatar 7:39pm cosmic matrix:

OMG the sound of the ghost light
Avatar 7:40pm kimzilla:

You have no idea how many details about the organ had to be left on the "virtual" editing room floor. when he talks about the computer systems for the organ its amazing. We need a 2 hr show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm Asheville Jon:

ah, I see Emily.
Avatar 7:41pm cosmic matrix:

Yes, Kimzilla, please!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm Asheville Jon:

Avatar 7:43pm cosmic matrix:

Or for making elephants dissappear!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm Asheville Jon:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm chris:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Asheville Jon:

i did throw out a guess though
Avatar 7:45pm kimzilla:

I am not the one to ask about music, when Paul was playing his first some by Kurt Vile, and then quickly learned that there is an ORIGINAL Kurt Vile...Kurt Weill. Sigh, this is why I have a talk show.
  7:45pm dez:
