Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Uncle Michael:

It seems like this is only on Brian Wilson comps...and no Glen comps that I know of.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm Funky16Corners:

It was on a Glen boxed set a while back

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Doug Schulkind:

Sounding so damn good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm Uncle Michael:

Best single ever recorded, maybe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm Funky16Corners:

You could say that about four or five of his records
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm Uncle Michael:

This one holds a special place for me.
Avatar 10:15pm hyde:

thing about Glen Campbell is you hear these songs, and they're great. but then you see him pick guitar, and he can keep up with anyone. (cf. Roy Clark!). and w. the godhen they gave him a show, he was a natural host. the goddamned guy could do anything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Funky16Corners:

Yeah,a consummate entertainer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm Uncle Michael:

Well, he couldn't act. Admit it.
Avatar 10:16pm hyde:

note: i am unsure what i mean by "godhen" above!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm Funky16Corners:

Come on, what's the movie with him and the chicken?
Avatar 10:17pm hyde:

@UM haha, not everyone can do everything
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Funky16Corners:

Oops
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Uncle Michael:

Oh, play it twice!
Avatar 10:18pm Jeff Ash:

It's cool. You could play Galveston again, and no one would mind.
Avatar 10:18pm geezerette:

uh, Rhinestone Chicken?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Funky16Corners:

Sorry, got caught up in the music
Avatar 10:19pm Jeff Ash:

The judges will allow it.
  10:19pm cupcakejenny:

<3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Uncle Michael:

At leasr in Norwood he had Joe Namath to lean on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm coelacanth∅:

i was just gonna say -i'm still a sucker for this song, the first GC song i knew as a child
Avatar 10:20pm hyde:

the Jimmy Webb collaboration is sure a big deal, when it comes to GC
Avatar 10:21pm geezerette:

He made everything he did seem so easy. No drama.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Uncle Michael:

He made dating Tanya look as hard as it probably was.
Avatar 10:22pm geezerette:

He's even good in True Grit.
  10:24pm cupcakejenny:

I think my parents saw Glen and Tanya in the Albany Airport once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm coelacanth∅:

i was just looking at his discography and surprised and intrigued that he covered "universal soldier".
gotta hear that.
Avatar 10:27pm hyde:

@cupcakejenny um, wow
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Funky16Corners:

I think that might have been a hit, too
Avatar 10:28pm still b/p:

Gentle On My Mind got a bit of a shmaltz MOR rep for a while when we was young. I understand why, but still a pretty strange tainting, given its pedigree, its lyrics, its everything...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm coelacanth∅:

peaked at 45 in the us, 16 in australia.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Funky16Corners:

It's really an unusual song
  10:33pm holland oats:

Great show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks much!
Avatar 10:35pm hyde:

this is kinda Sandy Denny
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm Funky16Corners:

You got that right. The best Fairport album ever recorded by someone else
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm Uncle Michael:

It's interesting, looking at Glen's catalog on Capitol before he struck gold. An album in '62, two in '63, one each in '64 and '65...*none* in '66....then three in '67, FIVE in '68!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm Funky16Corners:

He was a busy man
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm Funky16Corners:

It's always stunning when you see artists in the sixties turning over two or three albums a year
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm Uncle Michael:

Five albums in a calendar year is insane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Funky16Corners:

Indeed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Uncle Michael:

You know when the label asks for a Christmas album, you're a cash machine.
Avatar 10:44pm still b/p:

If our President had gone into music, he'd have produced more great fantastic albums every year than anyone else in the history of the world.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm Funky16Corners:

A boxed set every year
Avatar 10:45pm hyde:

love this set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm coelacanth∅:

...as long as there's no particular reason why you're playing more than one 13th floor elevators songs in a row.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm Funky16Corners:

None other than I love the Elevators
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm coelacanth∅:

whew! i already checked the news. the worry was hurting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Funky16Corners:

Yeah right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm coelacanth∅:

nice! you can keep playin'em - no complaints here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm Funky16Corners:

I will def come back to the Elevators at a later date
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm coelacanth∅:

i know you will!
... i have those records, but still like hearing them mixed into a set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm Funky16Corners:

So good. Deep stuff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm Uncle Michael:

Gotta put myself to bed now. Thanks, Larry.

Night all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks for coming Unk! Sleep well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm coelacanth∅:

i always wondered - i tried to get it cleared up by finding the original "slide machine" (which is unfortunately quite inferior)...but -what exactly IS a slide machine? i can deduce what it does, but i could not find a picture of one with a web search.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm Funky16Corners:

I'm not sure, either
  11:07pm calzone!:

Great show LG!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks Cal!
Avatar 11:23pm still b/p:

Hogan's Heroes/Family Feud Richard Dawson?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm Funky16Corners:

The very same.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm Funky16Corners:

Pretty crazy, huh?
Avatar 11:28pm still b/p:

I wonder whose chances of crossover success are better statistically -- on-camera performers who make a record or recording artists who try performing on-camera.

Stormy....arright!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm Funky16Corners:

That Dawson 45 is weird and cool, but an odd jumping off point for success. I love it but it must have been as confusing as hell for Hogan's Heroes fans
Avatar 11:30pm hyde:

fantastic show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm Funky16Corners:

I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Avatar 11:35pm still b/p:

If Newkirk could grab a mike, where was "LeBeau: Songs for Lovers, Oui?"

I worked at a car dealership in the 70s and one of the salesmen claimed to have been the bass player for Classics IV. I never saw any substantiation...don't know if it was just car salesman odd talk or if he was a hire for some live shows or somethin'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm Funky16Corners:

I'd be willing to bet that Robert Clary made some records. He got his start doing cabaret/revues in NYC in the 50s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm Funky16Corners:

Brother Solomon Burke!
Avatar 11:56pm Jeff Ash:

Nice finish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks Jeff!
Avatar 11:57pm hyde:

must bounce. good night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm Funky16Corners:

Nite! Thanks for coming by!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm coelacanth∅:

'night hyde...
Thanks Larry!
...night all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am Funky16Corners:
