Unfortunately, it's all to easy to predict. "I had decent health coverage under the Affordable Care Act (which is what the Republicans replaced Obamacare with), and now I've lost it. But Trump's my president! And it's the liberals' fault!"

Cheers to that!
Avatar 2:33pm still b/p:

Learned something about payola: it helped put Rusty Warren on the charts, with the practice for comedy records being less attention-worthy for the authorities than rock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm doctorjazz:

Hi, sounding good!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO:

Might as well make it midnight to noon, then.
Avatar 3:14pm Parq:

This NoLa music is a good omen. I have a colleague and good friend on her way there as I type.
Avatar 3:14pm Parq:

Okay, Miss Fish is from the MoTown, but I always associate this song with New O.
Avatar 3:17pm βrian:

Apparently, the album was recorded in Detroit. It's not clear where Samantha is based these days.
Avatar 3:21pm geezerette:

Art Pepper :)
Avatar 3:23pm geezerette:

& the great Gershwin material.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm doctorjazz:

Yup, Gezzerette, Art is one of the greats!
Avatar 3:25pm geezerette:

doc,he wrote,or maybe "as told to", a powerful, harrowing autobiography.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm doctorjazz:

What was it, Straight Life, if I remember correctly? Haven't read it (just starting an Anthony Braxton biography...slow going at the beginning).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm doctorjazz:

Eric Mingus, cool!
(went to see David Murray last night-his son was playing guitar in the band, Mingus Murray).
Avatar 3:28pm geezerette:

Yeah, I think "Straight Life" is the title! Coudn't remember.
Avatar 3:29pm geezerette:

How was that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm doctorjazz:

It was great! (Murray isn't quite the powerhouse he was 20 years ago, but who is? He played tenor great, did 1 song on bass clarinet, had D.D. Jackson in the band, what could be bad?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO:

Are you reading Forces in Motion? If so, great book!
Avatar 3:33pm geezerette:

Doug, doc, "Forces in Motion" Anthony Braxton?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm doctorjazz:

Don't mean to imply his playing was deficient-he circular breathed (?) and played incredibly long lines, it was great to hear him. I just remember him blowing the roof off...

Yeah, Forces In Motion is the book, just at the beginning, mostly discussing Sun Ra, though Braxton does seem very sweet...
  3:34pm βrian:

Who's hollerin' in the background there?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Jeff Golick:

Forces in Motion: yes yes yes. (How did you find your copy, if I may ask, @doctorjazz?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm doctorjazz:

@Jeff, you had recommended it, so I just looked for it on Amazon, and ordered a copy from them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO:

Forces in Motion is a book, not a doc. But it should be!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Jeff Golick:

(In my day job - which I am ignoning right now, thanks to this show - I am in contact with the author, Graham Lock.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Jeff Golick:

(I am also ignoning spell-check.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm annie:

i miss jefferson airplane...
Avatar 3:42pm geezerette:

Thanks Doug,I was actually addressing "doc" Jazz.
I'm such a sloppy writer in comments!
Avatar 3:42pm Parq:

The Schofeld track is sensational.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO:

That is so funny!
Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Steve Krinsky:

I'm having a blast, how about you? Can't wait to go home to listen to my show!
Avatar 3:43pm geezerette:

Addressing both you and doctorjazz.
Avatar 3:46pm geezerette:

Steve,sounds great, man. Terriffic show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm doctorjazz:

It was a great show, Steve! Thanks!
Avatar 3:47pm Parq:

What a great Drummer stream day this has been. And it's not nearly over!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm doctorjazz:

Miles to go...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm doctorjazz:

Saw Sebastion play with the Jim Kweskin Jug Band this past yr, guitar and harmonica (and ribbing Kweskin and the band about being the only one with hits).
Avatar 3:50pm geezerette:

Yay,Parq! Are we all lucky or what!?

doc J,nice! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm annie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Doug Schulkind:

The great Charlie Lewis is next with his Busy Doing Nothing finale: wfmu.org...
  3:51pm Dean:

Been lurking.

Great to hear that Murray was enjoyable, @doctorjazz.

Kweskin? Isn't he the guy who read Elmer Fudd's mind?
Avatar 3:51pm geezerette:

see you,Annie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm doctorjazz:

@Dean, I was tempted to stay for the late set (being a school day, and maybe a bit responsible, sent me home after the early set). And, he's going to have the Octet Friday and Saturday; not likely I'll make it again, but it would be nice.
Avatar 3:56pm Parq:

Luv this So Nice. Miss Amanda put out a Spoonful tribute disk as a marathon premium, which includes Astrud Gilberto signing this song with her kid. Wondrous!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm doctorjazz:

I'll try to get to the Spoonful tribute at FMU, should be fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Ted Fucking Williams:

No need to do station IDs on the Drummer Stream, Steve!
