Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04am doctorjazz:

Great start, love this early jazz (proto-jazz?), this is said to be the first jazz record release ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06am doctorjazz:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am Guido from Cologne:

Good morning Joe!
  9:25am Brendan:

I think my favorite horse song might be Jim Croce's 'I've Got a Mane'
Avatar 9:26am Cheri Pi:

Oh hey Joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26am doctorjazz:

With you there, RRN63, saw him not long ago in NYC, solo performance, sometimes he does an all request show. The audience filled out a form with 3 requests before the show, he picked them out of a bowl, and, with the aid of an assistant who found lyrics on a laptop and printed them out for him, proceeded to do a terrific show, amazing. (he pulled off the Beatles "And Your Bird Can Sing", if my memory serves me well).
Avatar 9:26am Joe McG:

Hey, Matty. Hey Guido. Hey Cheri! I don't know why I'm playing horse songs.
  9:30am Matt Warwick:

Cause horses rule.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am Vincent Nifigance:

The Crazy Horses album is a strangely cohesive and enjoyable one. This is not the only high point.
  9:31am Mister Ed:

I approve of this playlist. Whinny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am Fine-aight:

Whoa! Is this being played at double speed?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am pantz:

Joe, your show has been named the best radio broadcast between the hours of 9 am and 12 pm EST!
Oh, wait. I read the wrong card. It's Matt Warwick. Sorry.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Brian in UK:

Hey Joe.
Chestnut Mare was supposed to be part of an opera called Gene Tryp anagram of Peer Gynt.
  9:41am luh3417:

... not talking about anything on a horse who remains nameless?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am Brian in UK:

I still use the line 'like a mule going up a ladder'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43am Ken From Hyde Park:

Wouldn't Eohippus make a great band name?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am Fine-aight:

Nahh, or nay? (nee neigh)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am annie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am Ike:

@Pantz@9:32, ha ha ha ha ha ha, I was wondering when there'd be the first joke about this. That didn't take long!
Avatar 9:51am Joe McG:

Ha ha ha, nay to the neigh.
  9:52am jt:

As we all know, there is a reggae song for every topic, & on Sunday your compatriot , Jeff Sarge played a song about 7 inch records and how "everyone should try and play one just once ..sure MP-3's are great but 45 rpm records " are a very special thing etc. Great song . just thought I would let you know.
Avatar 9:54am Joe McG:

@jt: I was listening to some of Jeffrey yesterday and I missed that one. Do you recall the artist?
Avatar 9:54am βrian:

The lakes are still frozen, and the skies are blue over the Isthmus.

@River: You might try some of the punkier programs of the past, like Cherry Blossom Clinic or Pat Duncan.

@Joe McG Thanks, I'll check them out! This station is the best. :)
Avatar 10:20am northguineahills:

There's always a lot of queercore represented on various shows, but I can't remember offhand a whole show devoted to the topic.

...thinking now it's time to get hip to the details of this Vocoder thing...possibly not the most specific term - limit it to this effect. Passing voice thru - it's required that it be an 80s looking headset mic perhaps - thru a synth or some circuitry...

help! what was the song that was playing this morning around 9-9:30 that went like, "horses horses horses" "a horses nay is a horses yes" and something about throwing a bridal or reins around a woman???
Avatar 2:38pm Joe McG:

Hey Lise--I don't know if you'll read this, but it was the second song by Earl Oliver's Jazz Babies. I tried to make up for the sentiments of that song with Annette Peacock's "Pony," which flips the script.
  3:47pm Lise:

thanks joe but where can i find the version with lyrics? ive actually been scouring the internet on and off since i heard it this morning
Avatar 5:24pm Joe McG:

I don't know. It's an obscure old song so it's likely that the lyrics have never been transcribed.
