I don't know that he's ever coming back, but I thought it was pretty awesome that they got the original actor to play his Dad, even if it was only briefly. He was the same guy that played the second in command to Khan (as in Wrath of), which I thought was neat.

Fox my wife is the real fan watching for forty plus years. I get a kick out of the show since me n Mary's been together for 37 years. I appreciate the cast n their hard work but I'm here for the tunes. Such an odd unexpected connection Fox . Love it
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:39pm Ike:

Yeah, I'm not made of tough enough stuff for this dimension. I need to find the portal to the parallel Earth where Eisenhower's head on a robot body is president-for-life, and would-be demagogues are thrown in the pit to duke it out w/talking gorillas in place of reality TV. The only problem is, Upsala College still exists in that reality, and WFMU is forced to broadcast their basketball games. But you know, each parallel Earth has its pros and cons.
  10:41pm bugaboo:

this really inspires me. been wondering how as a poet to get into composition. gives me ideas.

Democrats majorly disappointed with DNC scams. The future is upto progressives. I hope Bernie Sanders runs in 4 years. Trump is like a nightmare.
  10:53pm jeff-m:

hi, just arriving
  10:59pm bugaboo:

rimma, dnc fucked up not letting bernie have a fair run, true. sad. this is what you get, playing 'my turn' politics
  11:02pm Rimma:

Bugaboo, agree but he keeps fighting and challenging Trump.
  11:04pm Rimma:

Bugaboo, democrats shoot themselves in a foot by cheating Bernie Sanders out of nomination. It all later came out and they looked as bad as Trump.
  11:06pm bugaboo:

nothing looks quite that bad, but it looks bad enough
  11:10pm Rimma:

It looked bad enough that people weren't enthusiastic to vote for Hillary and this is where it landed...
  11:10pm JakeGould:

@Ike: Someone should re-edit that “Star Trek: The Next Generation” episode (final?) where all of the different Enterprises from different dimensions converged and that one ship from the Borg universe? Should have the Trump inauguration playing on a bridge screen.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:10pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Trevor Noah is ripping on Drumpf on TV just now and I'm feeling better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm melinda:

I almost watched but was having too good a time listening to FMU. I appreciate your reportage, Daniel.
  11:13pm jeff-m:

fuck off , Blumin- you know this shit is going to be beyond Terrific.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Ike:

Do we all really have to continue with the circular firing squad, @Rinma? @Bugaboo? Really? Don't like the DNC but they were never proven to have done anything wrong. Just a lot of talk puffed up by Russian hacks aimed at leading to exactly this outcome. I voted for Bernie but he didn't move quickly enough to introduce himself to African-Americans in places like SC. You're just talking a lot of unproven surly sore-loser rubbish just like Putin wants you to. Keeping us divided so the useful idiot can remain in power for 8 years not just 4.
Avatar 11:15pm steve:

FMU has probably never helped me more in getting through a day... ive had it on since 8am...
  11:15pm Rimma:

@Ike with all the respect don't be naive about DNC
  11:15pm bugaboo:

no, just saying, i think the dnc definitely had something to do with the outcome is all. i think the evidence is there
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:16pm Ike:

No it's not. You've got nothing.
  11:17pm bugaboo:

i didn't say i had the evidence. in any case, we all lose. i think bernie could have won in a general election
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm Rory:

Man even the FMU comments board is becoming heated. Thanks Trump!
  11:17pm JakeGould:

Kinda tired of hearing that “fake news” affected this election. People believe what they want to believe. Period.

If anything voter turnout that can directly be traced to the Democrats being obsessed with “big data” (aka: “the model”) and ignoring ground level campaigning in key states is what I believe contributed strongly to low to apathetic voter turnout.
  11:17pm Rimma:

@Ike, check wikileaks
  11:19pm jeff-m:

stop fighting- the horizon has been reached
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:19pm Ike:

Just a bunch of talk about how much they didn't like Bernie. No actions, no proof. You're Putin's puppet on this. He engineered this outcome. And you'll whine that the candidate in 2020 is a "big-money Dem" and believe more Russian crap and doom us to another 4 years of President Orange Shitgibbon.
  11:20pm Rimma:

Peace and. LOve :))
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm melinda:

@Jake: there are several factors that affected the outcome but the one you mentioned is a major one that has gotten lost in the hooha over Russian interference.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm melinda:

It is interesting that people want to narrow it down to just one reason when there are many.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm fleep:

The GOP playbook against Bernie was vicious, and the same voter supression nastiness would have been in play. Popular win, electoral loss. So focus on the future because we need every brain clear and not eating the past over and over.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm melinda:

I like this Blue Fantasy.
  11:22pm Rimma:

@Ike. I agree it was part of Putin's plan
  11:24pm Mike in orbit:

Blue fantasy is terrific. Daniel
  11:24pm Rimma:

@fleep. Can we clone Bernie? He has good brain cells.
Avatar 11:26pm slugluv1313:

good evening, Daniel and everyone!
wonderful show (been listening, but working too)
and YES! "Blue Fantasy" certainly is stunning -- thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm Rory:

Trump campaign was a publicity that went too far. Putin helped out and here he is as POTUS. He won't last long because he can't control himself.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:27pm Ike:

@Jake and @Melinda, there's that too. IMO though, the main factor is charisma. Dukakis, Kerry, Gore, HRC -- all losers, all stiff and charisma-free. JFK, LBJ, Carter in first term (against charisma-free Ford, until outshone by a pro actor), Bill, Obama -- all high charisma. Many don't care that much about policy. They vote for magnetism.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:28pm Andrew Waterloo:

I think the biggest factor was an inability to understand why people were motivated to vote for Trump and the continued belief that we were all safe to assume that he had a very small isolated pocket of the electorate. Even now, after all the projections failed, we're still trying to frame his supporters as this particular isolated block. Bernie may have one by playing the anti-establishment candidate. Trump's vicious attacks against Bernie may have received the exact same apathetic shrug that most of attacks against Trump received. Reality is, we're talking about an election that some people predicted, and for other it stood outside of everything thought of as rational.
  11:30pm Fox (Rā-chul):

The DNC dropped the ball and chose to push Hillary, a politician who has been proven to be truly hated by the right (whether justifiably or not), instead of an antiestablishment guy who had broad support or both sides of the political spectrum they had in Sanders. Hillary herself overestimated her ability to win. The DNC underestimated the right, or just straight up ignored the lower classes and easily led.
  11:30pm bugaboo:

the biggest thing about the polling info was simply that most schmucks wouldn't cop to voting for him
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm coelacanth∅:

i guess it's too scary for people to consider the very strong possibility that this shit is rigged COMPLETELY and has been at least since bush's first term.
  11:32pm JakeGould:

I didn’t like Hillary Clinton. But I voted for her because I didn’t want Donald Trump. I’m sure there are people who similarly didn’t like Donald Trump, yet voted for him because they didn’t want Hillary Clinton.

My proof? The fact that Bernie Sanders made it as far as he did.

Here is a good article about the Michigan campaign. I work with computers and deal with shaping data all the time; I would never in my life purely trust data to shape a decision. It’s all “Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics” but in the digital age.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm melinda:

@Ike: yes, sadly charisma matters a lot.
@Andrew: good assessment. I could see it going either way for Bernie, I think people overestimated the stigma of the socialist label among independent voters looking for any kind of change (and other than the socialist thing, there wasn't much they could throw at him, really).
  11:33pm Rimma:

Was pollling rigged? Could be if media is biased. Which it is.
  11:33pm JakeGould:

In other news, check out this cool Trump portrait. twitter.com...
  11:34pm jeff-m:

too bad Cruz didn't win. Guy had some sweet ideas. Plus God too
  11:34pm Fox (Rā-chul):

Trump speaks plainly in black and white terms, and that appeals to poor uneducated people far more than subtlety and shades of grey that politics more often exists in. Hillary is unlikeable to simple white folks who like "traditional" family structure.

Sanders was the guy that the left had on their team that spoke plainly and ACTUALLY had the poor person cred to back it up. Populism is on the rise everywhere. We could have had populism on our side for a change. The DNC chose the wrong horse to endorse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm coelacanth∅:

media's not biased, it's threatened.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:35pm Andrew Waterloo:

You have to remember that polling is done by private firms that care more about advertising their ability to poll accurately than making the news paper they publish in happy.
  11:36pm bugaboo:

wasn't it duchamp who admired the u.s. for its 'dada'? well, this is the other end of it. a nation of philistines is not the same as a nation of dada
  11:36pm Fox (Rā-chul):

Melinda: I think that anyone who was scared off by the "communism" label wouldn't be willing to vote for Hillary, either. I think that fear was far overestimated.
  11:36pm JakeGould:

Ted Cruz can never win. He’s the Zodiac Killer.
  11:37pm jeff-m:

this is yummy music , man
  11:37pm Fox (Rā-chul):

Media's not threatened, it's making bank on Trump. Old media is happy to have anything raising their numbers, new media is finding whole new ways to take advantage of the Trump furor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm coelacanth∅:

God Loves all Living Things...even Zodiak Killers.
  11:38pm Rimma:

@ Waterloo good point. Maybe not Representative sample?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm fleep:

Polls are voluntary and based on who is willing to answer a poll, so the data is already flawed before they ask a question. You need answers from people who refuse to answer polls. This is where waterboarding comes in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm coelacanth∅:

that's not what i meant by "threatened". the media, in general, has been controlled by the government at least since the debacle of the vietnam war being televised. it is strictly sifted. never again will the us masses see the whole truth and nothing but the truth on tv.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:43pm Andrew Waterloo:

the sample, the trends, the way they extrapolate their data. They're ultimately reading tea leaves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm Rory:

The slow societal decline....Great show Blumin!
  11:46pm Rimma:

Sucky thing that even if Trump gets impeached, his VP will replace him. That guy is equally scary if you ask me.
  11:48pm bugaboo:

this is pretty great stuff
  11:49pm bugaboo:

the music i mean
  11:49pm jeff-m:

oh man, In my mind this song just merged with Nocturnal Emissions - Smash with Love
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:49pm Ike:

People keep saying that, and yes his politics are horrifying, but at least Pence seems calm and collected, and not like he's going to flip out in a sudden spasm of vengeful fury and nuke China for no reason, causing WWIII and dooming us all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm melinda:

@Fox: exactly. Younger voters don't even remember the Cold War.
Avatar 11:53pm Fox (Rā-chul):

Ike - I agree. Pence is the one who will be doing all the work anyway. I'd rather have the devil we know than the devil that's utterly unpredictable and has no concept of the fragility of world powers getting along and can hardly fucking read.
  11:53pm Rimma:

@Ike Yes but I don't trust him w internal politics.... But good point, can't trust Trump w Nukes and he has access to them. Fudge!
Avatar 11:54pm slugluv1313:

ahhh GANG! again, thank you!
and yeah, Pence is freakin scary -- calm but beyond evil
@ Rimma -- yes, either way we are totally screwed!
  11:56pm Rimma:

Avatar 11:56pm Fox (Rā-chul):

  11:58pm JakeGould:

Pence might be in control, but Trump is validating pure hate and ugliness.
Avatar 11:59pm Fox (Rā-chul):

Trumps speech about improving infrastructure and getting people off of Welfare and into work made me think of indentured servitude. So, look forward to that, those of you whose unemployment checks are running out. Labor Camps! Fun!
