Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03am Bronwyn Bishop:

Avatar 9:04am Doug Werewolf:

  9:04am Polyus:

Saw them last Friday for the first time since, what, 1994? Greybeatds were out in force.
  9:05am Polyus:

Greybeards, that is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07am Devin B.:

Poly: I think the last time was '96 for me. At the Capital Theater Backstage in Oly, if I remember. Plenty of greybeards last night for sure, but also an encouraging number of younger folks.
Avatar 9:07am Jim Devoid:

Holy rock and roll memories! Used to hear KD in my local metal record store growing up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Cliff in Prague:

Who doesn't like Catholic girls?
Avatar 9:16am Mdurek:

Killer set Marty! I feel like I should be at a dance party instead of sipping my first bustelo ^_^
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am Cliff in Prague:

Avatar 9:50am Chris from DC:

Yup, cranking this one.
Avatar 9:50am PKNY:

I saw Manowar on this tour, still one of the goofiest things I've ever seen.
  9:52am Polyus:

I can only imagine.
Avatar 9:52am Rev. Turnip Druid:

...speakers and DECENT coffee.
Avatar 9:53am PKNY:

Wrote about it on a previous MM show post, found it via the Googles:

"I saw them at the Chance in Poughkeepsie, which is about a 600 person capacity club. They had a wall of Marshalls about 15 ft high, like at least 4x4 cabinets on each side. In a club. *Opening* for Overkill. With both bands' backline set up, they had about 3 feet of space between their amps and the edge of the stage to walk around.

Face-melting stage raps to boot. Their guitar player had one of those leg immobilizer braces strapped on while still rocking their Viking gear, and Joey DeMaio said he hurt leg after he fell out of the tour bunk while banging some chick. Then some dude start heckling Joey, so he pointed him out in the crowd and said "You! I'm gonna be f**king your girlfriend tonight!" Spinal Tap have nothing on these dudes, straight up."
Avatar 9:55am Chris from DC:

Can you play that again?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56am Cliff in Prague:

Can you play 3 hours of that?
Avatar 9:57am Jim Devoid:

NOT METAL, I love it!
Avatar 9:59am Rev. Turnip Druid:

same, re: the game of thrones comment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am steveo:

forgive my ignorance and can someone tell me the name/artist of that track that Marty just (and often) uses for his set break? (I loved how it gave a strong beep at one point when he was giving his brilliant "no metal no fantasy" talk.)
  10:03am Polyus:

I am probably in the minority of people who don't really dig the whole artists playing their old albums trend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am pantz:

@steveo Black Superman by Above the Law. Great tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am Bronwyn Bishop:

yay! one of the best walker brothers tunes :D
Avatar 10:12am PKNY:

@Polyus - kinda agree in some ways, it seems like an easy way to cash in when on tour. But to be honest, the first time I remember someone doing this what when Slayer did "Reign in Blood" in the early 2000s, and I couldn't have been happier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Greg from ZONE 5:

Morning, gang!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am pantz:

@Marty What day will you be trying out for the early AM shift?
Avatar 10:20am Marty McSorley:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29am Guido from Cologne:

Is this the album with Lois and Bebe Barron?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29am steve:

again i zone out for 2 minutes and come to in the middle of some occult sex ritual
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30am steveo:

thanks @pantz!
Avatar 10:30am Whosondephone:

I'm going to try some of those things.
  10:31am Polyus:

@PKNY - a lot of times I think of certain records as really specific to a time and place. The artist are different people now and so am I for that matter. For instance, Patti Smith and 'Horses'. It feels kinda human jukebox-y to me, and I wouldn't expect that from her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32am MD:

Diggin the set Marty..TNX!
  10:32am Polyus:

That said, I guess we all have songs we want to hear when we go see shows. I am no different there.
Avatar 10:52am Henry:

damn great stuff
  10:52am Brendan:

Late to the party but diggin this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am Ahtie Spheahz:

My new favorite Gi Scott-Heron song. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56am Ahtie Spheahz:

-or even GIL Scott-Heron...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am pantz:

My rookie cards are a great investment. What a great line. Mos Def is unstoppable!
Avatar 11:07am Whosondephone:

Black Sheep No way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am Cliff in Prague:

Viva Los Angeles
Avatar 11:24am Cecile:

great seg!
  11:30am Brendan:

@Marty no football in LA for 20 years and now maybe 3 teams if the Raiders come?
Avatar 11:33am Marty McSorley:

pro football never left LA. USC and UCLA were always there. The NFL was just MIA for a few years. Never been to an NFL game. grew up a Trojan fan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am pantz:

@Marty Considering the teams LA is inheriting, USC is a better choice for quality football.
  11:37am Brendan:

Exactly what my brother living there says that a pro team would be the 3rd most popular team in town .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am Ken From Hyde Park:

I swear the background singer is going "Woof Moo" here.
  11:51am Polyus:

This Black Death stuff is so good. Somebody please reissue it.
Avatar 11:52am Whosondephone:

I think I would call this traditional Doom.
Avatar 11:52am Jim Devoid:

Black Death - another high school metal memory. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am Cliff in Prague:

I wonder what Marty is gonna play on Inauguration Day next week
Avatar 11:59am Whosondephone:

Good Heavens Evens.
  11:59am Polyus:

Oh shit, it HAS been reissued? Missed it somehow.
  11:59am Brendan:

Thanks Marty
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Cliff in Prague:

Heh, Black Death is like the counterpart of Angel Witch (same band name/album/title)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
