Was a nice way to open the show.... be forwarned - I'm doing a Rick Parfitt tribute throughout the show. I'll try and keep the boogie down to a minimum, but it's unavoidable.....
Avatar 3:16pm Sem Chumbo:

@BiUK: well, maybe no psychedelics involved here, but perhaps simple central nervous system depressants:www.watfordobserver.co.uk...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Quo's '68 'Pictures Matchstickable' album is fave PsychPop.
...Is this to the tune of Dylan's 'Song to Woody' or is it the psychedelics?...

Hey Bill! Merry haha to ya!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Parq:

The Rockettes --my, my. I worked as a vacation fill-in stagehand at the Music Hall in the seventies a couple of summers. The girls I knew -- and I only knew a few, even to say hi to -- are long gone, so I have no idea what the vibe is in the current crew. It may be voluntary for them on paper, but I'm sure that anyone who refused to go will find herself no longer getting placed in shows nearly as often as she used to be. That's show biz.
Avatar 4:26pm Bill Mac:

Thanks VP many more to you!
Avatar 4:29pm Bill Mac:

That's right Parq, I would imagine there's be a lot of dissenters

Avatar 4:43pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Wigkey gets it about right here; they are well-known to GarageRawk & Psych enthusiasts - & bridged those Genres w/ distinction in the Bay Area - & w/ protopunk aplomb:

The Chocolate Watchband is an American garage rock band that was based in San Jose, California. The band, formed in 1965, went through several lineup changes during its existence, but developed a sound heavily influenced by the Small Faces and The Rolling Stones. Combining typical psychedelic and garage rock components, the band's sound was marked by David Aguilar's lead vocals, and experimental intensity of an early protopunk band. The band's rebellious musical posture, combine with psychedelic-inspired guitar distortions and keyboards, made them one of the harder-edged groups of the period.
  4:43pm Willl:

I heard somewhere that Spinal Tap was based primarily on that band Status Quo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Jeezy:

Avatar 4:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

More wigkey:
Dantalian's Chariot was a British psychedelic rock band formed in 1967,[1] led by keyboardist and bandleader Zoot Money, and also featuring Andy Summers (later of The Police).[2] They are best remembered for their single "Madman Running Through the Fields",[3] and for their live performances, which featured early psychedelic light shows.[4] The band would all wear white robes and kaftans in concert, with all of their equipment painted white, to heighten the effect of these light shows.[4] The group disbanded in April 1968,[5] with Summers going on to join the Soft Machine and Money joining Eric Burdon & The Animals.

Avatar 4:48pm Bill Mac:

One of the few rap groups I love...
  4:48pm JakeGould:

Jonathan Richman was a fairly big Velvet Underground and Andy Warhol fanboy. I think Lou Reed had respect for him. Jonathan recorded “I’m Sticking with You” with Mo Tucker in 1974: “Notes: side 1 offers the legendary duet by Moe and Jonathan Richman. Personnel: Moe Tucker/Jonathan Richman (vocals), Willie Alexander (keyboards, backing vocals), George Nardo (guitar), Walter Powers (bass), Jim Wilkin (drums). This song was recorded February 24, 1974 in Boston at Music Designers studios. Came with liner notes insert backed with a poster of a gig Jon Richman played the night before this historic recording session in 1974.” olivier.landemaine.free.fr...

One thing I really love in Spinal Tap is the pastiches of the different periods the band went thru - from Beat Group to 'Flower People' to Heavy70s to wannabe Prog...altho' I hasten to emphasize The Rutles came 1st!

@melinda: A good chuck of Jonathan Richman’s solo songs sound 100% the same, like that song… But at least that part of the song where he dips into “Sister Ray” is pretty sweet.

Yup - &...:
' Alice Cooper claimed he was the inspiration for the line "Woke up this morning and I got myself a beer", as stated on his Planet Rock morning show. According to the book, Light My Fire by Ray Manzarek, a bandmate of Morrison's, the song refers to Morrison's waking after an alleged three weeks of drug-induced sleep and the actual lyric sung is "woke up this morning and I got myself a beard". '
I love the doors - like Iggy, Alice, Bowie, the Bunnymen, Mazzy Star & so on do. I'm good w/ their company...

With Drumpf, there WILL be fighting in the war room.
Avatar 5:36pm Bill Mac:

Hi Herb, here til 6...
Avatar 5:37pm Linda Lee:

i just don't see Drumpf making 4 years unless he's actually completely cut out of any governing authority. too much of a loose cannon.
Avatar 5:38pm Linda Lee:

everyone knows he's batshit. even the sycophants know it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm coelacanth∅:

that clown is only the tippytop of the shitpile though. if he never makes an executive decision from herein, we still have a disaster on our hands.
Avatar 5:40pm Linda Lee:

absolutely true coel.

Bill, great spins. See you next time around.

Sweating through my headband. The pace! The pace!

The disaster without Trump is Reagan era bullshit. With Trump, you have someone who validates a level of on-the-ground hate and bile that hasn’t been seen in decades.
  5:41pm Evan near Baltimore:

What a blast from the past. Classic Status Quo from the fade out, fade back in era.
Avatar 5:41pm Sem Chumbo:

Take care, BiUK. Remember, yabbos on scooters pulling dustbinds...

Thanks VP!!! I'm losing weight here!!!
Avatar 5:42pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Of course - there's no other way Pence could've gotten into the White House on his own. The Dems tho' - had their Populist candidate & shut him out. Didn't work - did it?
I have a theory that people voted in a majority Repub Congress expecting Shillary to win - a kind of Brexit effect of getting more from your vote than you expected...
Avatar 5:43pm Bill Mac:

Happy New Year Bub. See you in the chicken coop!
Avatar 5:43pm Linda Lee:

you're a magician Bill!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Cooh John:

Later CJ! Jane! Stop this crazy thing!
Avatar 5:46pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Nixon was highly competent - but disturbed - & even B-Movie Raygun had served. Drumpf won't even read intelligence briefings. He has no useful background in anything but fraud, bankruptcy & game shows. The Republicans dragged it down this far to score points - & the Dems dragged it to the 'Center' to play along & compete. Now where are we...

My 5- and 7-year-old nephew and niece have declared this song "boring," but I love it.
Avatar 5:47pm Linda Lee:

very unfortunately at this point party affiliations are almost totally meaningless. .. in the critical things we're down the shitter regardless.

Nice response to the commentary, Bill. Zeig Bop!
