No, no, my show is on Wednesday. OH WAIT A MINUTE
  9:08am MONEYBAG$:

this show is on thursdays now? what a country!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am listener james from westwood:

I still get that "it's almost Scenario time!" feeling nearing noon on Wed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am Stevel:

Listener james and MONEYBAG$: My internal radio clock is still set for Wednesdays as well, although this slot actually works better for me (all about me.)

Amanda, I have a Simpsons question that perhaps everyone else knows the answer to. Was Duff beer, at least in part, named after Duff McKagen of GnR? Reading his autobiography, and he says he was asked for permission (also saw the documentary, which is pretty good.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am Amanda:

This Duff McKagan tidbit is entirely new to me. Not saying it isn't true, just that it seems a new crazy Simpsons story surfaces every day!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am Uncle Michael:

Didn't Duff Beer appear before anyone had ever heard of G'n'R?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22am Amanda:

@MONEYBAG$ glad you found us here!

@UM I'd say not, GnR's peak popularity was around 1988 and Duff beer would've debuted if not in 1990, just a wee bit before then. That is just my best guess tho
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am Stevel:

Wow, I am unreasonably impressed to be presenting said tidbit to you.

UM: (Hey! Is Kansaas a f-ing cold as Indiana today?) This would have been around that '87 '88 mark. Duff also had a large belt studded with Budwiser bottlecaps and was frequently introduced by Axl as "Duff--King of Beers--McKagen."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am Stevel:

In an excerpt from his autobiography, Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan claimed that the beer was named after him as the writers were fans of the band and he was known for his extreme alcohol consumption and was popularly called "The King of Beers". This is a claim Simpsons creator Matt Groening has called "absurd".
Duff Beer - Wikipedia
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35am Stevel:

... In response McKagan has stated that he thought it was common knowledge and uncontroversial that he was the origin of the name, and jokingly called assertions to the contrary "absurd."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35am listener james from westwood:

We have light snow in Westwood, here in northern Bergen County, and it's cold but not brutal. Supposed to be dangerous winds over the course of today so I'm glad I don't have to fly into or out of here. I am copyediting where it's cozy and hoping a down mood lifts soon. WFMU helps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35am Stevel:

It all seems to be rather "absurd."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am Jeff Golick:

Those animals seem to be watching a very gripping program. I would like to watch it with them. And all of you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am Stevel:

Just had to switch to headphones for Bad Brains. Carry on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am listener james from westwood:

In my head, Falk is wearing the Columbo coat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am Jeff Golick:

And his hand is affixed to to his forehead for most of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43am Amanda:

He's wearing a tux and looking exactly like he does when he goes to Janet Leigh's house to watch a movie that one time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44am Stevel:

Really love everything I've heard from The Meltaways.
Avatar 9:45am glenn:

nick lowe should update it to faithless elector.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am Amanda:

I wonder if any electors listen to WFMU! Could you even imagine???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am Jeff Golick:

@Amanda: it's got a big gasoline stain on it, unfortunately. Current run of tunes bringing me right back to Providence, RI, circa 1990.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am Uncle Michael:

It's cold here, and McKagen is full of shit.
Avatar 9:59am glenn:

everyone from g&r is full of shit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am listener james from westwood:

Also, heroin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am Jeff Golick:

Well done, @Amanda.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am Amanda:

A veritable hail of hot takes levied against GnR on my Playliste this day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am Amanda:

To Jeff's earlier conjecture about what the animals are watching, I think it could be the space heater, which is what my cat is most fond of watching.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am listener james from westwood:

Hell yes, Portishead!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am Jeff Golick:

My initial thought was True Detective season one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am listener james from westwood:

Had a girlfriend back in the mid-90s who hated Portishead b/c of "Sour Times." Relationship didn't last. I'm better off w/ Beth Gibbons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26am Amanda:

Pff, yeah you are.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31am listener james from westwood:

One major plus of the 3-hour Scenario: the return of this music bed.
Also, folks rollin' in their cars and listening thru their mobile also would appreciate the immediate back-announce. But excellent point re: the visually impaired.

Aha...checked in during Simpsons Time. Yay, me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am listener james from westwood:

IIRC Kent is also using a typewriter, which I find charming.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am Ken From Hyde Park:

They also use them at the police station, like that time Wiggum sarcastically recorded the arsonist's statement on his invisible typewriter.

Many thanks, Amanda!
