Tuned in via app -- have to chime in for this Johnny Watson - super good!
  Fri. 12/2/16 4:43pm JtotheK:

Oh, and ShielaB -- please let me know if you have spares of the Bill Bush "I'm Waiting" - at $1500 it's out of my budget. Thanks! Also, hi everyone!
Avatar Fri. 12/2/16 4:44pm djsheilab:

Hey @JtotheK It's $1500?!!?? (crying into my tea)
Avatar Fri. 12/2/16 4:45pm geezerette:

shimmy shake
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/2/16 4:45pm Rob Kopp:

When I heard Space guitar by Young John Watson, I realised why he got this extra name Guitar. I mean: this was in 1954! Why didn't this track receive more credits? It's one of the best instrumentals ever made.
  Fri. 12/2/16 4:46pm jerry h.:

Awesome playlist today @djsheilab !!
Avatar    Fri. 12/2/16 4:46pm Bronwyn Bishop:

I can't listen to Lee Hazelwood without smiling :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/2/16 4:48pm Carmichael:

Lee Hazlewood has been on my playlist for a loooong time ...
Avatar Fri. 12/2/16 4:50pm Dano59:

Lee is the man! The closing track of that 'Again' album is wonderful, giddy, charming, intimate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/2/16 4:53pm Adrian in London:

I saw Lee play at Nick Cave's Meltdown Festival in London, supported by, of all people, Harry Dean Stanton. Quite a night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/2/16 4:53pm Rob Kopp:

Thanks to Lee I have Ann-Margret's single You turned my head around. Love his original version of Pour man on his LP Love and other crimes (covered by Tav Falco)
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 12/2/16 4:55pm Michael 98145:

Ooh, Beach House. thank you.
  Fri. 12/2/16 4:57pm jerry h.:

Harry Dean Stanton-"zelig"

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/2/16 5:00pm Carmichael:

Hey! I know this song ... :)
Avatar Fri. 12/2/16 5:00pm djsheilab:

@Carmichael :)
Avatar Fri. 12/2/16 5:00pm Dano59:

Sheila your notes for One Kiss Can Lead to Another were invaluable to my editing this wiki page:
en.wikipedia.org...
and I can't recommend Kirsten Zemke highly enough either... she's a pop culture maven as much as a musicologist...
Avatar Fri. 12/2/16 5:00pm djsheilab:

This instrumental breakdown KILLLLLLLS ME!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/2/16 5:02pm Carmichael:

That's Lenny Zakatek on vocals, David Paton on bass Eric Woolfson and AP on keys, and Stuart Tosh on drums. Ian Bairnson gets the guitar solo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 12/2/16 5:02pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Nice AP cut!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/2/16 5:02pm Carmichael:

And Andrew Powell does some amazing little things with the orchestra.
Avatar Fri. 12/2/16 5:03pm drewo:

APP always brings me way back! Thanks Sheila!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/2/16 5:03pm Carmichael:

This LP was recorded in Monte Carlo as a tax dodge.
Avatar Fri. 12/2/16 5:04pm listener james from westwood:

My mom and her brother are both smiling from the ether at this track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 12/2/16 5:06pm Michael 98145:

( don't look at me -- i'm not talking :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/2/16 5:07pm Carmichael:

Oops, self-correcting. Got the wrong Stuart on drums; Stuart Tosh left for 10cc before this album, replaced by Cockney Rebel's Stuart Elliott.
Avatar Fri. 12/2/16 5:07pm Dano59:

Saw Alan with A Walk Down Abbey Road Tour (with Todd, Ann Wilson, Ox) - stellar!
  Fri. 12/2/16 5:09pm Jay S.:

Can your continued, over the top championing of the Alan Parsons Project actually be some sly Andy Kaufman-esque performance art routine? Because, after 40 years, I'm still not hearing it in the grooves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 12/2/16 5:10pm Michael 98145:

( not too fond of December, myself )
Avatar Fri. 12/2/16 5:10pm Dano59:

a seasonal affective holiday classic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/2/16 5:10pm Carmichael:

Hey Dano59, what city did you see them in?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/2/16 5:11pm Rob Kopp:

Beautiful quote. I'll keep it. I'm sure it will help me to start with PLATENBOEK part 4 (the sixties after the sixties)
Avatar Fri. 12/2/16 5:11pm Linda Lee:

hey there! really great quote from Martha Graham! need to find that one & post it myself!
Avatar Fri. 12/2/16 5:12pm djsheilab:

Here is it! “There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. ... No artist is pleased. [There is] no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others”
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/2/16 5:12pm rsj:

you should just listen to some sean landers
