"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Good morning JA and WFMUers.
Avatar 7:40am Sem Chumbo:

Thanks for the spins this morning, John. See you next time!
Avatar 7:51am Howard F:

So funny, while is was listening to this track I was thinking about a difficult jazz guitar book I had, chords that are really hard to hold. And it turns out it's the guy wrote the book---Mickey Baker!!
Avatar 8:00am Howard F:

Really liked that Aleuda track.
Avatar 8:03am Howard F:

Great set John! I feel like I'm the only one commenting on this message board, but it's cool!
Avatar 8:12am John Allen:

that's ok Howard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13am Ken From Hyde Park:

Good morning. I like all this lovely pinano music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15am annie:

this music you're playing really goes well with copy-editing, as LJFWeswood would suggst.
Avatar 8:20am pierre:

I went for lunch and like this I miss Jack Rose; bummer.
Avatar 8:20am pierre:

and also, I'm not quite sure if my use of a semi colon is correct.
  8:21am Cecile:

Ha! Great commentary!
  8:23am Cecile:

I admire her, but her phrasing is like when my husband makes fun of Cat Power.
Avatar 8:24am John Allen:

Well Cecile, it was either go with the pat benetar line, or I was going to say something about how joe mcgasko once tried to carry Angel's amp, and she's like 'are you kidding me?'
  8:24am PatrickP:

She sounds a bit like Jarboe at times.
Avatar 8:24am John Allen:

nice call Patrick
  8:26am Cecile:

Seriously, I liked your honesty. Ha!

Good for her, too. Although Joe is a sweetie.
Avatar 8:36am pierre:

I saw Angel Olsen once, I understand why people could be into her, I for once, i'm not much into her stuff.
  8:44am Cecile:

What a pure statement of love "you look so good covered up in bugs"
Avatar 8:46am Cheri Pi:

Let's rock!
  8:47am Cecile:

We were waiting for you.
Avatar 8:48am Cheri Pi:

Mr CP and I had to go food shopping for AO this weekend. I shall not betray her confidence in our craft services.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49am Ken From Hyde Park:

Lots o' rock on the way this morning. Professor Dum Dum is filling in for Ken after this show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50am Polyus:

Does Meg's dreamcatcher hang from the rearview mirror of Meg's Subaru?
Avatar 8:51am Cheri Pi:

I think it hangs from Ian Astbury's neck.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52am Polyus:

Professor Dum Dum you say? Fantastic!
  8:52am Cecile:

Well I lasted 10 minutes last dum dum show. Maybe I'll make it longer today.
Avatar 8:58am Cheri Pi:

don't go Jaaaaaaaahhhhnnnnnnnn
Avatar 8:58am John Allen:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59am Polyus:

I got to hear a lot of European metal that I am not always exposed to via the Professor.
Cheers John.
