  11:28am Rich IN NC:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Amanda:

Nobody needs to clean for that long a time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am listener james from westwood:

Don't mind me, just downing a couple of pre-show plums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Amanda:

Hope they are plum delicious!
  12:01pm P-90:

Hi Amanda and Scenarists!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm listener james from westwood:

They were! It's a golden time for stone-fruit fans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Mike East:

I've got some cherries, myself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Doug Schulkind:

The Scenario is rocking the Atlantic Ocean. Blasting you out into the Stonington harbor, Amanda! Do the lobstah dance, ya'll!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm listener james from westwood:

Was at a party this Sunday featuring a 4-lb. Costco box of cherries. Ripe enough to make eating outside a wise move!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Amanda:

Ah, so not just on the California Coastline, then. Glad to hear it :-)
Avatar 12:05pm Mayuko:

Hello Amanda and all! Today has turned out to be cleaning day for me too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Jeff Golick:

After too much time in the sun, I do the lobstah dance.

Was in my Massachusetts hometown over the Fourth weekend. There was, as there always is, a sign upon entering the town announcing a "Lobsta Raffle." I know we SAY it that way, but do we really have to SPELL it that way, too?
Avatar 12:06pm steve:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, folks. I hope next week's GIF is a dancing lobstah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Jeff Golick:

Come to think of it, it's less of a "lobstah dance" and more of a "lobstah lie-down."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Amanda:

If you thought I chose this track because the riff resembles "Pleasant Valley Sunday," you'd be right!

Hi hi hi everyone and welcome to the show!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm listener james from westwood:

Killer cut here from The Third Eye!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Jeff Golick:

Going through an odd period now where I have very little interest in dialing up my own music. Like, nothing can hold my interest, if I'm doing the choosing. It's radio or nothing. Anyone else suffer from this, from time to time?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Doug Schulkind:

Driving north on 95 from outside Boston up into Maine, we traveled a long way behind a car with Mass plates spelling out LQBSTAH.
  12:15pm P-90:

@Jeff Golick: I find FMU is the perfect resource for those times. Almost like it was created for that purpose.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm doctorjazz:

I get like that sometimes, can't decide on anything. A music player with a shuffle works when you don't feel like radio (and FMU is great for that, of course).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm listener james from westwood:

Follow that LQBSTAH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Jeff Golick:

@P-90: Ha, yeah. It certainly relieves one of doing the selecting, while keeping it utterly surprising and fascinating.
Avatar 12:18pm steve:

Avatar 12:19pm quinn:

this is beautiful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm listener james from westwood:

Same person (and dogs) as behind "Jingle Bells"?
Avatar 12:19pm steve:

this is so much more listenable than jingle cats
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Some years ago, I spent a day on Martha's Vinyard and there was a vehicle with Colorado plates spelling QUAHOG.
  12:21pm Nate K:

I like this Jorge Ben, I'll have to check out that comp.
Avatar 12:25pm ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
Avatar 12:25pm Mayuko:

Jeff G, I recently heard a well-known music producer (in Japan) saying similar thing. He said he figured it's because you can't get out from your own formula as long as you play stuff from your collection (and he did have a huge collection,) even when it's shuffled. But on the radio you never know where you'd be taken to and even songs you know sound different because the context is different/new. I thought it was interesting
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Jeff Golick:

YES, @Mayuko. The new context is EVERYTHING. Something FMU selectors are particularly good at providing.
  12:36pm meow:

Whadoo ya get if you cross Jingle Dogs with Cat Stevens? The Tabbynacle Choir! :
  12:38pm Dean:

The first ten tracks on this ML album were recorded at Berkeley's Long Branch Saloon, which closed many years ago. A few years ago a new Longbranch Saloon opened at the same location, but alas, no live music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Amanda:

I find Jingle Cats to be more of an acquired taste too, @steve... maybe I prefer the more "analog" sound of the Singing Dogs (Jingle Cats are much more synth'd).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Jeff Golick:

As someone who's father went to Beverly (MA) High School, I've always had a soft spot for that "Fly into the Mystery."
  12:43pm SeanG:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm listener james from westwood:

"Hippie Chick"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm listener james from westwood:

And there's always that brief moment of Smiths or SOHO. Either way's a win!
  12:44pm SeanG:

true dat James
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm listener james from westwood:

Ah, my song-name spelling stands corrected!
  12:45pm MONEYBAG$:

wow, is Groovy Train next?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Doug Schulkind:

What a great new comp from Numero.
  12:57pm Dean:

Just learned that Numero now has a retail storefront at its warehouse in Chicago. First day of business is this Friday. I'll be in Chicago later this month...but not on a Friday, the only day of the week when they're open!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Jeff Golick:

Yah, That Numero collection is aces.
Avatar 1:06pm ndbob:

@Doug yep - got an email fro them about it
  1:11pm famous original icecreamwolf:

Hi guys!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Amanda:

Hi Ms. Wolf!

And a hearty hi to everyone! I haven't been able to say individual hello's but I sure appreciate you all.
  1:14pm MONEYBAG$:

Amanda, by chance are you familiar with the Utica Club theme song? reminds me of this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm doctorjazz:

Been a bit "out" there today, pretty cool, but nice to hear The Grass Roots, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm listener james from westwood:

"Hey, goober—where's the meat?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Ken From Hyde Park:

"can't stand up ... under... my own.... power"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm listener james from westwood:

Someone repeatedly used the "It's just a little ——! It's still good! It's still good!" in a Twitter exchange in my feed re: an incinerated frozen pizza and I nearly choked to death laughing.
  1:21pm famous original icecreamwolf:

I thought of this episode the other week when I had a lamb burger with goat cheese.
  1:21pm David W & Ridgewood Ruth:

I don't know if its caffeine or post-holiday protein rush but you all are raging today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Mike East:

best part about the lamb is when Homer pushes the second cutest lamb away..."outta the way, you! Awwww..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm listener james from westwood:

OMFG the shark eating the gorilla
Avatar 1:24pm northguineahills:

They don't expect us to swallow this tripe!!!??
Avatar 1:25pm northguineahills:

actually had a super yummy Polish tripe soup the other day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Now, as a special treat courtesy of our friends at the Meat Council, please help yourself to this tripe!

When I grow up, I'm going to Bovine University!
Avatar 1:29pm northguineahills:

Bart no!
Sorry, force of habit.
Avatar 1:31pm northguineahills:

I like all of the places that Homer shouts at looking for Lisa.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I like the part where Homer squirts more and more and more lighter fluid on the grille. He empties two entire cans on the charcoal.
  1:35pm Nate K:

When Lisa and Homer walk away to this song playing, I get a little teary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Amanda:

@Ken HP, a callback to an early Treehouse of Horror when he does the same thing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Amanda:

@Nate, me too- every time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Jeff Golick:

There should be a German word for that feeling of not wanting to over-experience something wonderful, so as to preserve the deep-feeling-ness of the experience...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Jeff Golick:

  1:43pm MONEYBAG$:

this is the Utica Club song I was talking about: https://youtu.be/CDitNNIi_zs
  1:44pm Nate K:

@Amanda, what's your opinion, if you have one at all, on "the New Monkees"? Anything redeeming there at all?
  1:49pm Nate K:

After checking out YouTube, I'm going to answer this one for you: "No, nothing redeeming."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Amanda:

@Nate I have never even heard the New Monkees at all. They say that at least a couple of them were pretty decent musicians and enjoyed good session careers afterward...? I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm listener james from westwood:

Expecting Trouble to break in and say, "Good morning!" amid these fine birds!
  1:50pm Nate K:

@Amanda, Tom Cochran wrote a song for them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm listener james from westwood:

We had a surprise quartet of killdeers around the apartment bldg. for about 3 weeks. I was afraid they'd blown off course from the short, as they had the long legs of a wading bird, but evidently they like golf courses and parking lots. They resided on my bldg's lot until just about a week ago, offering birdsong I'd never heard before. No idea where they went.
Avatar 1:52pm geezerette:

Appreciating the surrealism. :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I've heard "You Bring the Summer" from their new Good Times album on WFMU recently. Like on Cheyenne's fill-in on the Fourth. Catchy tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm listener james from westwood:

Lotsa good 70s faves this episode amid the superfine stuff I've never heard before. Loved it!
  1:55pm Nate K:

@Ken, that's the new (old) Monkees, I'm talking about the '80s reboot called "the New Monkees."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Amanda:

I like the new Monkees album, just for the record... played a couple songs from it already OR HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN
Avatar 1:57pm northguineahills:

Thanks Amanda!
Avatar 1:57pm ndbob:

excellent show Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Jeff Golick:

Two already? Thanks, Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm doctorjazz:

Getting that Monkees album after hearing it here (should be coming soon)
Thanks for a fun show!
  1:59pm P-90:

Another fine outing, Amanda. Thanks! You really give something to my day, every time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Amanda:
