Thanks so much, Flash. Take care.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm Jeff Golick:

Avatar 10:34pm coelacanth:

Hey Jeff and Outies!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm melinda:

hi coela & Jeff & folks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm Jeff Golick:

Hi hi, @coelacanth and @melinda.
Avatar 10:39pm coelacanth:

hi melinda!
Avatar 10:46pm geezerette:

A little Lou Reed quality.
  10:47pm Dean:

Can't go wrong with BS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm Jeff Golick:

Truer words...
Avatar 10:50pm coelacanth:

pavement ist rad!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm Jeff Golick:

Zowie, @coel!
Avatar 10:52pm coelacanth:

Avatar 10:54pm geezerette:

Been thinking lately we're in another one of those golden ages of music. Oceans of talent "out there".
Avatar 10:56pm coelacanth:

i feel that way too, g; but i often suspect it's just a golden age for me discovering more... or being open to more...
i just don't know!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm Jeff Golick:

That could be true, @geezerette, though it also seems like we have access to so much music of all kinds and times...it's hard to know where or when to look...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm Doug Schulkind:

Jesus. Lou is dead. What the fuck? This is not okay.
Avatar 10:58pm coelacanth:

he still is. and it's still not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm Doug Schulkind:

What an awful awful year.
Avatar 11:01pm coelacanth:

...i'm just recently open to the great things that happened in the 80s & 90s. (which i still think was a tiny fraction in a sea of horribleness)

- i like this. 'never heard of Kevin Drew.
Avatar 11:01pm geezerette:

Yeah,it's a hall of mirrors, but young artists can track their chosen family trees faster than ever before and it looks like a possible renaissance is happening. Hope so.
Avatar 11:03pm geezerette:

Because yeah Doug,we can use a bright spot.
Avatar 11:03pm coelacanth:

it does feel that way. maybe this to tip the scales from what Doug is referring to?
Avatar 11:05pm geezerette:

I want to think it works that way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm Jeff Golick:

Kevin Drew is part of a Canadian crew...Broken Social Scene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm melinda:

coelecanth I feel the same way. I'm much more open to different musics than I used to be, or at least I put more effort into finding new things. It's interesting learning about 80s and 90s music I wasn't aware of then. It used to make me feel like such a late bloomer, but it keeps life fresh when one continues to look for new stuff.
  11:07pm Dean:

Here's the bright spot: Beethoven's dead, too. Been dead for a long time. But Paul Lewis produces performances of the piano sonatas a decade ago that were as fresh as could be.
Avatar 11:08pm geezerette:

Exactly Dean.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm Uncle Michael:

Crap...did I sleep till Sunday?
Avatar 11:12pm geezerette:

Good morning UM! :D
  11:12pm Dean:

Wakey, wakey, Mr. Van Winkle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm Jeff Golick:

Nah, you're right on time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Uncle Michael:

How was my show on Friday?
  11:13pm Dean:

Best ever. You slurred the back announcements a bit, though.
Avatar 11:14pm coelacanth:

i always considered myself far more eclectic in music than most people. i still do! (wfmu is not most people. i'm a little fish here, and i like it!) ...but when my favorite punk bands turned to crap in the early 80s i gave up on "rock-based" music completely, & immersed myself in reggae and music from all over the planet.
...meanwhile i was unaware of all the fresh spirit shining brightly behind the veil.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm Doug Schulkind:

Oh dear. So sorry, Jeff. I got the word re: Sunday. Don't worry 'bout it.
Avatar 11:18pm coelacanth:

-stay strong Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm melinda:

I'm sorry about your dad, Jeff. That sucks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm Jeff Golick:

Thanks, @coel, @Doug, @melinda. Glad I could share that heaviness here.
Avatar 11:22pm geezerette:

God Jeff. Do whatever you need to do.
  11:22pm Dean:

I don't consider myself eclectic. I consider myself...no, I know that I'm a mere dilettante. Whatcha gonna do?

I had the same experience, coelacanth. Sold a bunch of really interesting records. Regret it now. Again, whatcha gonna do?

With cancer you have to move a step at a time, particularly at the preliminary stages. Doctors adjust diagnoses. The anxiety is over-the-top, but stay cool...
Avatar 11:22pm coelacanth:

you know you can - with your extended, alternate family.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm Uncle Michael:

I'm sorry to hear of your family's rough news, Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm melinda:

I think one can be an eclectic dilettante.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm Jeff Golick:

Thanks, you lovely people. And agree, Dean. One step at a time...
Avatar 11:28pm coelacanth:

i think fear and anxiety are as detrimental as cancer. if one can be diagnosed with cancer and not be overwhelmed with those other devils, the result often surprise the doctors.
Avatar 11:32pm coelacanth:

(which physiologically makes sense, because fear alters the chemistry in the body [especially the kidneys] - in a very physically stressful way.)
Avatar 11:34pm coelacanth:

wow! when is this from?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm Jeff Golick:

My favorite rock record of this year, @coel! So so good. Evan "Funk" Davies had the band on his show earlier in 2016.
Avatar 11:38pm coelacanth:

ah...that's one of the many live sets that i just missed because i was listening to the drummer stream! i remember.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm Uncle Michael:

God I love this song. (El Goodo)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm Jeff Golick:

Yup. And we knew you had good taste.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm Doug Schulkind:

Yay! In five minutes, I get to really start working on my show. Yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59pm Doug Schulkind:

Or, if you'd like to go another 12 hours, Jeff, I could just reeeeelax.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am Jeff Golick:

Yes, well then I couldn't get ready to listen to your show.
Avatar 12:02am coelacanth:

is that the true wheel, or a double bind...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03am Uncle Michael:

Thanks Jeff...take care.
Avatar 12:05am geezerette:

All best Jeff, good thoughts sent your way.
Beautiful show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05am Doug Schulkind:

Lovely evening, Radioman!
Avatar 12:05am coelacanth:

Thank you Jeff. Excellent and moving program.
...again -stay strong...and to your father as well, of course.

ciao peeps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06am Jeff Golick:

Thanks so much, @UM, @geezerette, @Doug, @coelacanth, and all ears out there...
