Good Morning Jeff.
Avatar 3:03am

This is a nice slice of guitar soli.

Who spilled shit on the keyboard here?
Cooh John:

Nice to make a visit to the ghetto. Usually sleeping. Awesome sounds.
Avatar 3:13am
Jeff Conklin:

Thanks, John, glad to have you

pacific standard simon:

I'm pretty sure that "spilled" is not the correct verb for the noun "shit".
Avatar 3:16am

Co-workers huh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16am
pacific standard simon:

Unless you're using a bucket.
Violet in Cali:

Great show tonight!
Avatar 3:23am

Violet in Cali:

Haha I know I always rankle the regulars sorry
Avatar 3:27am

Hey I never said you were wrong ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28am
pacific standard simon:

@Violet in Cali - Well, that comment about 'rankling the regulars' DOES make me wonder what the hell you're talking about....
Avatar 3:28am
Jeff Conklin:

Praise for the program rankles no one
Violet in Cali:

I'm just gonna zip it and enjoy the music.

This show is the just the best way to start Monday's!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30am

...Or end Sundays.
Avatar 3:32am

Avatar 3:33am
Jeff Conklin:

@Violet: Zip nothing. Do/say whatever you like :)
Avatar 3:33am
Jeff Conklin:

Morning , Ajay, Simon and regular lurkers.
Avatar 3:34am

Please don't zip it on my account, I was just being cheeky.
Avatar 3:37am

I asked Jenks what "WHAT" stood for on Twitter the other day and he just said "you will find out eventually". Mysterious!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44am
pacific standard simon:

How to pronounce the title of this track? "Three Teepees"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52am
pacific standard simon:

When I hear artists like Furry Lewis, I despair of making music that is worth making.
Violet in Cali:

this song is so beautiful
Violet in Cali:

Oh man I thought maybe there was a big spider in the studio or something...WHAT?!
Avatar 4:14am

This cover is absolutely perfect.
Avatar 4:14am
Jeff Conklin:

@Violet: Ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15am

I vote for Robyn Hitchcock's version.
Avatar 4:17am
Jeff Conklin:

@Simon: Have you ever heard The Contrarians' version?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18am
pacific standard simon:

No, but I'll look for it if you recommend it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28am

Aside from the drums, this sounds like The Faces.
Avatar 4:30am

loved that byrds cut...
Avatar 4:45am

Nice stuff!

Sem Chumbo:

Yet another bowl of oatmeal while listening to the show. It's a thing now. Good morning, Jeff, and the Avanti.
Avatar 4:49am
Jeff Conklin:

Thanks, SmokinJ, and good morn, Sem
Violet in Cali:

Sem's got the "oatmeal" again
Avatar 4:53am
Sem Chumbo:

That Junzo is getting play around the sked, wonderful new stuff.
@Violet: you "dreaming" again? Good early morning to you.
Violet in Cali:

No dreams, I've got some Marionberry this time
Violet in Cali:

Also this Late Summer song is like my new fave
Avatar 4:56am
Sem Chumbo:

I once asked M. Hurley during a gig if he could play The Three Blinds Blues, which was fun, as he did not really play the song but turned it into short and mocking guitar solo.
Violet in Cali:

Um mostly just me talks about it lol
Avatar 5:11am
Jeff Conklin:

@Stefan: Nice. I can't believe I've never seen him perform
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15am

I'm so glad The Avant Ghetto is on the WFMU Summer schedule, Jeff! As for marijuana, I recently applied for a state job that does drug testing so I've been abstaining. If I don't get the position I'm going to celebrate!
Avatar 5:17am
Jeff Conklin:

I don't party but I don't endorse or condemn it

Yes. Glad to hear the AG will be on air for summer. Sorry about the time slot. I rarely have a chance to listen except to archive and as you said, there's nothing like live radio!
Avatar 5:22am
Jeff Conklin:

@rw: Yeah, it seems to be this slot or nothing so I'll gladly zombie through three months of Mondays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26am

I like listening at this time, but you deserve a better timeslot!
Avatar 5:28am
Jeff Conklin:

Thanks, joeray. It is what it is.

Ha! Well you've done a pretty good job fitting the mood of the show to this hour of the day. You have to be careful about what you're good at. There's also some stiff competition at WFMU. I'm guessing earlier time slots may take a while to get.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks for bringing us Itasca today. Nice music to wake up to.
Avatar 5:32am
Jeff Conklin:

Quite welcome, Ken

See you next time, Jeff.

Brian in UK:

Funny thing Jeff, I was playing this the Byrds track in a new car I bought recently. Got a CD AND cassette player. Wacko. Gene sings Neil better than Neil.

It's great to see Bruce's album still being played somewhere. He taught me to play guitar many years ago. R.I.P. Bruce.
