  4:07pm Matt in Hillsborough:

it's been a year, try something different! (and i like the opening)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm Adrian in London:

Keep the Japanese theme. "Dooo-do-do-do-do-dooo…"
  4:07pm Cliff:

Girls screaming & moaning? Just use some clips from that SUW episode a few weeks ago

(And I like the current starter just fine)
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 4:08pm listener james from westwood:

I whistle your theme song to myself between episodes, so I'm a fan. But hell, summer schedule, summer intro, who knows? (And I vote for the short-snippet idea vs. a full song; leaves more room for new future hits!)
  4:08pm T from New B:

Love the theme and think it is a great transition piece, but follow your heart. Remember, you are the DJ!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Fuzzy:

A chimpanzee collage, or maybe wolf howls and bubbliing noises, or bad white-guy rapping...just some random ideas.
  4:09pm Cliff:

Actually MONEYBAG$ has a good idea there
  4:09pm Cliff:

There's always bagpipe music
Avatar 4:09pm The Contessa:

Yes, you are the DJ, it's your show, play what you want!
Avatar 4:12pm djsheilab:

@Cliff Bagpipes! My most favorite instrument!

Do what feels right to you, Sheila! Change only if you feel the urge to change!
  4:12pm Cliff:

Well you play 'em every week!
  4:13pm Mike Sin:

Kicking off the weekend with cold pints of ginger beer and your show. The ladyfriend and I enjoyed listening to your marathon premium this week as well.
  4:13pm JakeGould:

Just tuned into hear Bananarama. Perfect summer weekend DJ choice. Great work!
Avatar 4:15pm djsheilab:

Uh oh....just as you guys are popping open the beers I'm playing a song about vampires and blood.
  4:16pm JakeGould:

On the positive side of the schedule Matt W’s “Garbage Time” takes over DJ Trouble’s spot. So hey!
  4:16pm Cliff:

Avatar 4:17pm djsheilab:

Thanks for your feedback everyone! MEGADETH IT IS!!! Holy Wars!!! A 7 minute long intro!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm Adrian in London:

That Bananarama track was great; never heard it before. Also YES, Jenny Hval! If anyone gets the chance to see her play live just go; she's so good.
Avatar 4:17pm TehBadDr:

Bananarama, very much a summer song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm maestroso:

Ooh, nice spacey and airy vampire song....
  4:18pm Cliff:

If Terre T could play Cherry Blossom Clinic all the way through every Saturday, you can play 7 minutes of Megadeth.
  4:19pm JakeGould:

FWIW, the first Bananarama album when they styled themselves as goofy art school kids? Great stuff.
Avatar 4:19pm djsheilab:

Ok I'll summer it up for yas next!
  4:23pm zmz2:

oh not this kind
Avatar 4:23pm djsheilab:

Damn! Shoudla brought Irma Thomas' "Don't Mess With My Man" to play after.
  4:24pm Cliff:

L'esprit de l'escalier
  4:24pm P-90:

I humbly but firmly express my (no doubt worthless) opinion that the original theme song is an admittedly idiosyncratic but completely fitting opener for this program, whether at 6 AM or 3 PM. I have been a faithful, enthusiastic listener since the very first web-only broadcast last Spring, and I feel strongly that changing the opening music would be a regrettable compromise. I know I will almost certainly be overruled on this, but some of us FMU folk will feel honor bound to stand against the mediocratization and perversion of a DJ's original inspiration wherever and whenever the possibility appears.
The present opening theme expresses the essence of the intention behind the SBB show perfectly well, which no doubt is how it came to be selected in the first place. My advice: stand strong, stay pure, don't allow your vision to be diluted by second thoughts and the well-meaning but misguided attempt by others to "improve" your show, with little "tweaks" to their preference. It's a slippery slope to start down.
So there.
Avatar 4:26pm βrian:

I'm with P-90.
  4:26pm JakeGould:

I say I like when metal (METAL!!!) shows up on the show, but the original theme is the one I like and associate with this show. So there.
Avatar 4:29pm Cecile:

I like the original theme. I think it fits the show.
  4:30pm Cliff:

I'm still voting for bagpipes, I don't care about the superdelegates
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Adrian in London:

Yep, P-90 all the way. And, if you don't like the theme, just tune in five minutes late - problem solved!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Fuzzy:

Yeah -- stick with your original interval signal so listeners can easily identify the program that is about to begin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Adrian in London:

@Cliff The Contessa once saw Glenn Campbell play live and towards the end when he came on and started hooting away on the bagpipes we decided that coming home to watch a Cary Grant film was probably the best course of action.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Michael 98145:

mess with our DJ, and there'll be an army of us
Avatar 4:33pm βrian:

@Adrian. Heh, I slowly developed an aversion to Mr Giant Man, but I still like Fabio's show. I just turn up fashionably late.
  4:33pm Cliff:

But yeah P-90, it seems to be a general internet problem that people will offer unprompted advice in an attempt to be "helpful"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Fuzzy:

Example: everyone can identify the shows that use the 3 samples I mentioned earlier.
Avatar 4:34pm geezerette:

P-90 is absolutely right.
  4:34pm Cliff:

Adrian I must celebrate my Scottish heritage, no matter how much it hurts my eardrums
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Adrian in London:

@Cliff Ah, you'll be using Edinburgh rock as drumsticks, no doubt?
Avatar 4:35pm βrian:

Maybe play it at half speed? Double speed?
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Andrew Waterloo:

Some people offer advice because they don't know other ways of communicating.
Avatar 4:36pm βrian:

You heard about how the Irish gave the Scots bagpipes, right?
  4:36pm Cliff:

Wash it down with some Irn-Bru!
Avatar 4:37pm The Contessa:

Oh no!
  4:37pm JakeGould:

FWIW, some people just say things on the comments board that are disposable comments. The only comment I have ever said I was staunch about is how much I hate ABC’s “When Smokey Sings.” Jesus christ do I hate that song… But if I say that in a comment, it’s a comment on the song and not the DJ. Blah, blah, blah…

@Sheila The best pop star responses to catty/vile comments is James Blunt. Music's far too insipid for my taste but his Twitter feed is a constant delight.

  4:38pm Cliff:

βrian didja hear the one about how the Portuguese gave Japan tempura?
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Andrew Waterloo:

I just remember a dumb youtube channel made by guys making fun of pop music fans, and the fact that the Brittney Spears fans just very politely shrugged their shoulders and said, we're here to have fun, I don't know why you're not.
  4:40pm Ed McG:

I think it was one of the episodes from the 1990s TV series "Ally McBeal," where someone tells Ally that she needs a theme song to deepen her brand. I can't find the episode, but I think that a theme song is actually optional. If you find something that reflects your taste and your attitude and your sensabilities - use it. However, if you are straining to fit into some mold, just remember it's free-form radio. John Barry's theme for the James Bond movies probably sets a high mark for theme songs. If you find something that meets that level of intensity, you've got what you need. Otherwise, sail on, because it's going to be less than great.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 4:42pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 4:44pm JtotheK:

the movie 'I'm Gonna Git You Sucka!' also has a relevant scene about the importance of theme music...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm pinholga:

Your theme song is great. Change it if you want, but only because _YOU_ want. It sets the mood nicely for your show, setting it audibly apart from the previous show, which is exactly what a theme should do (which is not to say I don't like Bryce (or Kurt, in the case of today) because I really like Bryce!). Your's in particular is a nice because of how well it distills your musical sensibilities into one perfect package.
  4:45pm Cliff:
