Good morning, Joe!
  9:07am Brendan:

Hi folks. I had a thing for a Claudia once, and wiki'd the band. The story behind the name is a riot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am tomasz.:

morning Joe. that opener was wild
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 9:09am Ken From Hyde Park:

Good morning, Joe and surface-dwellers. Boing boing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am doctorjazz:

Hi all.
Avatar 9:11am Sem Chumbo:

Hiya, Joe, and all Inspectors McGaskets listening in.

I suppose if The Fall ever stops being, it would become the Felt?
Avatar 9:12am Joe McG:

The goodest of good mornings to you all and thanks for tuning in today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am SeanG:

looking forward to Cate
Avatar 9:18am KP:

Always great to hear you over the air, Joe. The crackles and drifting authenticate the experience.
Avatar 9:19am V Priceless:

hey JM!
Avatar 9:20am Joe McG:

Sean G. reminds me to mention that my special guest today around 11 a.m. will be Cate Le Bon. She came in last Thursday and we had a really fine live session and chat. I hope you'll stay tuned for that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am sphere:

hello everybody. :)
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 9:25am Guido from Cologne:

I have a concert conflict on May 31st:
Cate Le Bon versus Fat White Family
Avatar 9:26am Sem Chumbo:

@sphere: diggin' your personal statement.
  9:30am MONEYBAG$:

Why does Garfield hate Mondays? Pretty sure every cat gets to sleep until 1 PM regardless of the day.
Avatar 9:31am Joe McG:

@Guido: Much different experiences, I imagine! Mood will determine!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am MD:

Hello Gang! It's NOT Raining This mOrning! Yea!!!
Avatar 9:36am Cecile:

yes, it was!
  9:36am tomasz.:

harp is working for me too. it's a rare and beautiful sunny Glasgow afternoon and i am hauling all my worldly possessions across town in boxes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am foofs:

Never buy an antique harp.
  9:36am tomasz.:

Garfield is a nihilist
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am Parq:

Classics IV did Spooky *and* Traces. Also Stormy.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 9:37am pantz:

@tomasz Anyone that obsessed with lasagna couldn't be a nihilist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am Parq:

Also, what MD said.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 9:38am HarktheUmpire:

I will face the same conflicting conundrum on the 30th, Guido.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am sphere:

@Sem: thanks!
Avatar 9:42am Joe McG:

@tomasz: Good luck with the new flat! @Parq: Thanks for reminding me, I wasn't sure. The mind is deteriorating at a remarkable pace.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am yayson:

parq, i read somewhere that the classics album is the ur-document of soft rock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am sphere:

i just love this Smiths song always.
Avatar 9:53am Marc Francis:

Hey Joe! Hay all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am Parq:

What I couldn't remember is who did Sunny. Turns out it was a guy named Bobby Hebb. Yayson, soft rock *wishes* it has what the Classics' stuff had.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 9:54am pantz:

Always loved the squeeze box in this song.
Avatar 9:55am Cecile:

even the Classics couldn't top themselves. They became Atlanta Rhythm Section, and were never the same.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am yayson:

yes, a pale shadow indeed
Avatar 9:57am Cecile:

Although not as bad as Ambrosia's drop from "Holding on to Yesterday" to "How Much I Feel".
  9:57am Brendan:

When Morrissey did an upbeat track it was like the sun came out after a week of rain.
  10:00am Will:

I think I already want to hear that Eerie Wanda song again.
Avatar 10:02am Joe McG:

@Will: I've played track 1 and now track 2. Maybe I'll just continue to play it in order.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03am Scott Williams:

Joe Does Gorky's!!
Avatar 10:04am Marc Francis:

Telephone! Such a great song.
Avatar 10:05am Joe McG:

@Scott: I did them and I don't think they regret it! At least not yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08am SeanG:

Avatar 10:09am soup and fog:

What a song to wake up to the first full day of finals week!
Avatar 10:10am Joe McG:

@soup: Go get 'em!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:10am pantz:

One can really see where Gordon Gano got his singing style.
Avatar 10:11am Joe McG:

@pantz: I never noticed that before and you're SO right!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am Tim 07030:

Hi Joe! Able to listen for a while at work today (don't tell anyone)...
Avatar 10:12am Joe McG:

@Tim: Your secret is safe with me and the rest of the Internet. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am Tim 07030:

Times I heard 'Marquee Moon' (the song) on the jukebox at Maxwell's = 457
  10:16am Will:

Oh, Joe is testing that theory that even songs you're inclined to hate are gladly listened to when played on his show! (Last week he tested that theory with "Midnight at the Oasis.")
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am JP from KC:

This is nice Monday music, Joe. Thanks for the pick me up. And thanks again for your help with my S4L!
Avatar 10:17am Ear Hammer:

Here we have a real-time loop of Mercury cutting in front of the sun today. It's a little dot going left to right about 1/4 from the bottom. mercurytransit.gsfc.nasa.gov... You can see also see some surface noise from solar flares and whatnot.
Avatar 10:21am Joe McG:

@Ken: Surface noise with solar flares sounds pretty good to me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am Uncle Michael:

Chip Taylor channeling Dan Penn on that one.

"Marmalade thighs and Maxwell House eyes" still in my top ten of favorites lyrics.
Avatar 10:27am βrian:

Speaking of, an adjuster once told me, if a person doesn't have a porch to pee off of, that's one less fire prevention measure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29am Uncle Michael:

I love that Buckingham wrote about having formerly been "somebody" before he became "somebody."

Avatar 10:35am Joe McG:

Kelly Jones!! @Brian: Platter sizzle is such a lovely sound!
Avatar 10:43am βrian:

Strangely, I was in France in 1981, listening to ZZ Top. I still associate the scent of Bas Provence with swaying beards.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:43am pantz:

What? A love ballad from ZZ Top???
Avatar 10:43am Ear Hammer:

Zed Zed TOP!
Avatar 10:45am Joe McG:

@pantz: Men with beards have a sensitive side!
Avatar 10:45am βrian:

@Ear Hammer: That's a shibboleth, to be sure.
  10:57am Listener Don:

Avatar 11:44am Joe McG:

Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 11:45am pantz:

What @tadpoles said. Also reminds me of Stereolab a bit.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 11:45am Brian in UK:

Belated hello Joe. Are Cate's song titles a little self deprecating?
Avatar 11:45am Joe McG:

@pantz: All kinds of influences in there!
Avatar 11:46am Joe McG:

@Brian: Very possibly! She seems to have a sense of humor about herself and the world.
