A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Good morning! Love the artwork and this first track.
Avatar 9:02am Trouble:

good grey tuesday, kittens! Today's gorgeous artwork is by Victoria Haven.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02am sphere:

hello Trouble and The Troubulons. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03am Adrian in London:

Hi Trouble and listeners. This track is a relaxing counterpoint to the Polish news and pop station the builders are playing in the living room at the moment…
Avatar 9:05am Sem Chumbo:

Desejo-lhe um dia cheio de flores, Problema.
Good morning, all. Pity the unTroubled.
  9:05am goat friend:

Love this old song.
Avatar 9:08am Marcel M:

Morning Trouble! Nice meeting you at the fair.
Avatar 9:10am Trouble:

that's beautiful sem chumbo! This weekend at the record fair I wrote 'problema" on my name tag. My alter ego for the multi lingual.
Avatar 9:10am Trouble:

you too marcel! adrian: my sympathies...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14am doctorjazz:

Paul Bley's Ida Lupino, no?
  9:16am burnsie5000:

good morning! thanks for brightening this gloomy day here in boston!
Avatar 9:19am Trouble:

good morning burnsie5000, merci. it's pretty bleak here too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

HolyCrow - how come I never heard of Vashti Bunyan until the 21st century...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am Adrian in London:

@RevRabbit She was pretty much under the radar untila few years ago. She'd given up and gone to live on a smallholding on an island off the west coast of Scotland, if memory serves.
Avatar 9:21am Trouble:

you are in luck rev rabbit, since she has a few re-issues, and new releases still in print. fascinating story, she has
Avatar 9:22am Trouble:

i interviwed her on air, via phone several years ago. she was charming and super gracious
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30am Adrian in London:

And by 'given up' I meant on music for a while, not on life or anything! I think it was people like Devendra Banhart who encouraged her to record again. I did read when her last album came out that she went to her local college to learn music production on Logic etc and they wouldn;t let her join because they said she was too old. So she taught herself. She's Vashti Bunyan for God's sake!
Avatar 9:35am Trouble:

wow! i hadn't heard that bit adrian, very odd.
Avatar 9:36am Trouble:

Morning Kevlicki.
Avatar 9:48am bobdoesthings:

Avatar 9:49am Trouble:

morning kevlicki! i went up to white barn farm on saturday, saw some of my favorite people: sheep. don't you know those people?
  10:01am kevlicki:

That's great!
i have yet to meet them, but I am familiar with their farm. I used to live up the road from them.
  10:04am kevlicki:

Hey Marcel! How was the rest of the fair? Any good scores on Sunday?
Avatar 10:04am Marcel M:

It was good! Yeah, I got some nice deals. I posted some of my scores on FB.
Avatar 10:05am βrian:

My, the bike path was crowded today. Good morning, ye Troubled.
  10:07am Polyus:

Our bike rack is full up here at work. I have to assemble another one today to make room.
Avatar 10:08am Marcel M:

One thing about Spring I don't like is the massive amount of cyclists that come out of the woodwork for the nice weather. I forget how good I have it all alone in the cold in the dead of winter.
Avatar 10:10am βrian:

I hope you don't miss the whine and grind of studded tires. Suddenly your bike flies beneath you when you put the real tires on.
Avatar 10:10am Marcel M:

I actually don't change my tires. I just don't bike if there is snow on the street still.
Avatar 10:12am Marcel M:

The lyrics of this song could not be more powerful... chills every time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am MD:

Hello Freeform World!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am MD:

Avatar 10:16am βrian:

See? You are a fair-weather biker! But Bob bless. The more the merrier.
Avatar 10:17am Marcel M:

Brian, I bike to work in torrential downpour, brah. Also no matter the temp. The only time I don't is if there is literally snow in the streets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am JP from KC:

Good morning, all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am JP from KC:

I got my little radio! YAY!! Thanks, Joe McG!

Avatar 10:21am βrian:

Trouble, any pithy soliloquies today? Always good to hear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21am Greg from ZONE 5:

Morning, Problema! Great getting to chat with you at the Record Fair. Such a fun, exhausting weekend.
  10:21am famous original sugarwolf:

@trouble: they sell Yarn from WBF at the ulster co spinners booth at rhinebeck ... And I'm assuming some of those spinners also sell at their store...
Avatar 10:22am Trouble:

yes indeed to all of that greg!! cool @sugarwolf
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am Parq:

"Saint Etienne Present Songs for the Carnegie Deli" is the most intriguing title I've seen in a long time. I'm reading about it, and it seems that the guy who put it together has it in his head that the Carnegie Deli is a diner. Reminds me of the time I heard a Brit fellow on stage at a downtown venue refer to an afterparty at "Katz's Diner". Newbies ...
Avatar 10:24am bobdoesthings:

I don't like how vengeful Laura Lee is in this song.
  10:28am melinda:

Hi Trouble
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30am Ken From Hyde Park:

Here now...awaiting the halftime festivities.
Avatar 10:32am βrian:

Sun must be on the way, Trouble, cuz it's gorgeous here. 55 and sunny on the ride in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32am JP from KC:

It's upper 60's and sunny here in the Midwest, but I'm at work, so it's dark and rainy... in my soul.
Avatar 10:34am Sem Chumbo:

We live for the editorial content of La Problema adroitly folded into the show. Abrigado!
  10:36am melinda:

I don't speak French but I like the sound of French spoken by people from Quebec.
  10:37am medifoo:

Avatar 10:38am βrian:

I recall hearing a conversation between a Quebecois and a Parisian. I could understand the latter perfectly, but not a word of the former. I'm pretty sure he was from rural Quebec.
  10:39am mg:

Wow, really? Never knew this existed. Thanks for playing.
  10:39am medifoo:

Jeyonwa is a really good Korean food place in los angeles
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40am sphere:

was that David Lindley on the Elton John solo? it sounded like him.
Avatar 10:46am Trouble:

no david lindley on that unfortunate track
  10:46am medicalfools:

  10:50am Polyus:

Katie Von Schleicher put me in mind of early Zola Jesus stuff a little, before she went all glossy dance pop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am sphere:

thx trouble. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56am Adrian in London:

@Trouble When it comes to the quality tunes you;re definitely winning over my builders' station ;-)
Avatar 10:59am Trouble:

wow, adrian, that is the highest of praise! merci. will we see your home in elle decor when it's done?
Avatar 11:06am Trouble:

oy i just hit the bomb russia button instead of order out and all the comments vanished. erggggggggg. all praise to liz berg and joe mcgasko for returning sanity to its rightful place
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am Priscilla:

Sanity is overrated!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am steveo:

I wacky-parsed the playlist as "everyday jazz"....

I'm loving the show, Trouble. Thank you.

(I did not notice commentgeddon...)

Avatar 11:18am Trouble:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Sister Rosetta 'American Masters' anybody not seen it :
Is Heron Oblivion the best band in the world?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Cliff:

They're the best band I've heard this year, that's for sure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I'm thinking...if we add Electric instruments to Folk - we might bring a new Poetry to Pop - eventually express inner worlds - a 'Psychedelic' music & culture!
...Nah - never happen...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am Priscilla:

@ Revolution Rabbit Nov63: Thanks so much for that link
Avatar 11:25am chromaphone:

I've been doing psychedelic folk for a few years now and it goes over real well live. Had to take a break from gigging though. Thanks for turning me onto HO Trubs! So cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am coelacanth:

hello Trouble and Troubled
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Cliff:

The cover image of this album by Fatima Al-Qadiri is both timely, and creepy: i1.sndcdn.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Priscilla:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am coelacanth:

something grabbed me enough that i had to boot up the computer just to gold the star. i think it was heron oblivion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am Cliff:

Yeah, a Teletubby with mace...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 11:46am Sem Chumbo:

Great company on a fog-bound Tuesday morning here, Trouble. See you and the birds next time.
Avatar 11:50am Trouble:

thanks for tuning in this morning everyone! there was a foul snake closing in on me as i walked into the world this morning. it seems to have slithered away a bit by now. x
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am Ken From Hyde Park:

@Adrian in London - May you enjoy a safe & peaceful mayoral election.
Avatar 11:51am βrian:

Clear skies are on the way, Trouble. Get your bike tuned up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am Priscilla:

Another fabulous show — thanks Trouble!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am mariano:

Hey, random question, but I'm doing a design project for a client and he's given me a picture of this band, and we're trying to figure out who it is. It's not REM is it? Doesn't look like Michael Stipe, but it could be the angle. Did a reverse image search online but no luck... Thanks! picasaweb.google.com...
Avatar 11:54am chromaphone:

looks like REM to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am mariano:

Thanks, that was my first thought. It's just that the Michael Stipes' face looks so round and boyish!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am mariano:

Sorry, didn't mean to write "the Michael Stipes'"...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am Adrian in London:

@mariano Good name for a band…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am mariano:

@Adrian: Haha, you're right!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am JP from KC:

I'm pretty sure it's REM. That looks like Peter Buck and his Rickenbacker in the background. The image is flipped though, so he looks like he's playing left-handed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Cliff:

They could be like the Ramones or the Donnas, everybody in the band's name ends in "Michael Stipe"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Cliff:

(And thanks for the show today, Trouble!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm mariano:

Thank you all for your insights!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm mariano:
