Frogs! Simpsons! And Clarence Carter on the stream!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am Amanda:

For you, James, and all of you listeners: I present the image that this frog GIF narrowly beat out this morning for the honor of playlist GIF:
giphy.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am Amanda:

It's actually so good that I realize I should use it some other time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am listener james from westwood:

Holy hell, yes, that one's gotta go in the to-be-used list.
Avatar 12:01pm KP:

Hello, Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Stevel:

SWEET CAROLINEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

[ahem]

Good near-post noon to you all.
Avatar 12:02pm ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
  12:02pm MONEYBAG$:

on the Halifax tip
  12:02pm P-90:

Sweeeeeeeeet Am-annn-daaaaaaaa!
Good Noontide, everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm listener james from westwood:

How do, all! Happy to hear the early 90s right outta the gate!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm doctorjazz:

Hey! Like the loser gif, definitely need to use it another time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Uncle Michael:

Is this where the party is?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Lizardner Dave:

Ah, the sweet, sweet absence of my usual mid-Wednesday conference call, I can listen in real time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Amanda:

We will be going in and out of the early '90s throughout the show, as per the uzhe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Amanda:

Welcome, everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Sean from Bridgeport:

(Homer voice)
The lady in the song's name is Amanda like Amanda's.
  12:10pm P-90:

We love the uzche :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Good afternoon, Amanda and Nazarethians! What's going on here? I haven't the froggiest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm listener james from westwood:

@Sean: Yes, in the same tone as his "Moe is their leader" line!
Also: Hunter Thompson avatars for the win.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Amanda:

Two Amandas in one set -- tho' Dionne's is never called by name, more's the pity! Mindy has a motorcycle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Sean from Bridgeport:

Thanks James!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Matt F:

Wow!
  12:21pm Matt:

I'm terrible at voice recognition, but this is Bernie?
Avatar 12:22pm KP:

All right!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Amanda:

What are you getting at?
Avatar 12:23pm ndbob:

Fadoul is great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Artie Haywire:

Yep.
  12:36pm P-90:

@Amanda: The Love Machine is definitely worth checking out, it's famously so crappy it's fun, a la Valley of the Dolls, but I think you'll also dig how steeped in 1969 atmosphere it is. And it has what a big movie studio at that time thought of as real "hip" music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm listener james from westwood:

I had a feeling I'd had the pleasure of hearing Jale here before, and the playlist search confirms Amanda's previous lurve for diff't tracks of theirs. Smashing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Amanda:

Ah, great info/advice! It seems like a film I would, indeed, like if it were on TV late at night or something. Thx P-90!
Avatar 12:38pm Dominick:

very nice
  12:38pm MONEYBAG$:

are we on the Amanda Train?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm listener james from westwood:

Ahhh, flashing back pleasantly to my doing middle-school (or early high school) homework with this cut on in the background.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Amanda:

Duane and I always have a little bit of overlap! Just enough to keep you guessing/confused.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Amanda:

@LJFW, for me it was briskly walking to school (or, more often, away from school to home).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm listener james from westwood:

Would've loved mobile audio on my school bike/pedestrian commute! Only had it in Mom's car during shite weather.
Avatar 12:53pm ndbob:

Hmm - middle school years for me were the early Beatles
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Amanda:

When old enough I used to get driven to school, then would go home alone on the subway. So it was CBS-FM in the mornings, which I think was 90% responsible for what I currently listen to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Doug Schulkind:

I can think of one person who would find it hysterical that the Pink Lincolns are on the Stiff Pole label. Good afternoon, Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm listener james from westwood:

Heh, in my case it was Imus in the Morning. In retrospect I'd have been better off w/ 101.1.
Holy Christmas, this Diamond version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Doug Schulkind:

@Listener James from Westwood
Fifteen years ago, Give the Drummer Some beat out Imus in the Morning (and Howard Stern and others) for "Best Radio Morning Show" in the NYC City Search editors' and readers' polls! True story! www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Amanda:

Hi Doug! From Stiff Poles to just plain Stiffs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm listener james from westwood:

@Doug: As bloody well it should every year!
Avatar 1:17pm Dominick:

Oh MY!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm listener james from westwood:

Is this melody from "Scheherazade"? Or am I dreamin'?
  1:19pm P-90:

...from the days when they tried to market the brilliant composer/arranger/producer Crewe as a (heavily closeted) teen heartthrob singer, like a new Eddie Fisher...
  1:20pm northguineahills:

Tuning in from my friend's pad in the upper west side helping him move his parent's stuff from his childhood home. Thanks WFMU app.!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm listener james from westwood:

"Homer, is this projection accurate?!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm listener james from westwood:

Holy cow, I'd forgotten this was the Mel Brooks ep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Funny how both Bart and Lisa get enrolled in ballet classes at one point or another. Also notable: they both excel at it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm listener james from westwood:

"I hate Carl Reiner!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Sean from Bridgeport:

Homer: Oh wow, I can't believe my first passenger is comedy legend Mel Brooks. You know that movie, "Young Frankenstein"? Scared the hell out of me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm listener james from westwood:

The can of Tab Bart sips!!
  1:32pm P-90:

Always LOVED the Bart/ballet subplot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm listener james from westwood:

Oh hells yes to this Hatfield.
  1:34pm northguineahills:

I still have this Juliana Hatfield cd!
  1:34pm P-90:

Yes! bart was always depicted as athletic. So ballet was something physical that he could credibly excel at if he got real motivated.
Avatar 1:35pm ndbob:

indeed James!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Amanda:

This CD is so amazing. Another thing that shaped my identity, most likely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Always after his Lucky Charms. Well, the chase has ended. www.nytimes.com... Magically delicious to the end.
  1:37pm northguineahills:

I think Irwin is the only other dj that plays Juliana Hatfield.
  1:41pm famous original sugarwolf:

Juliana Hatfield once responded to me on Twitter about what color nail polish she bought at Sephora. My teenage self would die at the thought of that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Amanda:

OMG! Sugarwolf, you win life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Amanda:

Or.. you know, the nail polish section of life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Twitter is going to be the cause of, and the solution to, all of life's problems.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Doug Schulkind:

Here will be his playlist: wfmu.org...

Thanks for Pet Clark en Francais!
And it's always a little bit sad when that final bed music comes on, cause the end is near, and it always seems a bit too soon. You need a three-hour slot, Amanda! Thanks for the great tune, Simpsons Time, and everything, and have a great week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm listener james from westwood:

Bonus cut!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Amanda:

I can't do a three-hour slot during the day, I'm too busy! But thanks!
