@cosmic matrix - I guess you can email Ken or Joe McGasko and get a refund.
Avatar 3:26pm djsheilab:

Listen to the good people on the WFMU comments board and pledge away!!!!
Avatar 3:26pm Lopez:

cosmic matrix: what was the song you requested? I think we need to know so we can better decide whether you've got a legitimate gripe or are over-reacting. Also, what time during the show did you pledge/request? These are important details!
  3:27pm SeanG:

that aint dylan!

Mouse and the Traps - A Public Execution
  3:31pm djelrock:

It ain't about the songs of Yo La Tengo @cosmic matrix or the prizes being given away; it's about the radio station which depends 100% on the selflessness of its listeners. It took me a while to get it but I finally got it.
Avatar 3:32pm statoj:

Hey Toddophonic, don't trash the non-linear method of random word band naming. Plus, if that premium is an incentive for people to pledge, let it be! Trash on, Dude!
  3:33pm Nate K:

Todd smashing listeners into the turnbuckle every Saturday.

Jose "El Tres Cuerdas Monty" Bilac
  3:35pm ira:

I probably shouldn't do this. But under no circumstance does Cosmic Matrix have a legitimate gripe. Scam??? We played 34 songs and acknowledged another 17 in the medley, which left dozens and dozens of requests unfulfilled. Some because we didn't have any idea of what the song was, some because we ran out of time, some because the request form got misplaced in the chaos. We appreciate everybody who pledged and made a request, and hope you'll rethink the word "scam," at the very least.
Still trying to figure out how Todd-o-Phonic Todd managed to foil my plan to host his show today!
Avatar 3:39pm Lopez:

Ira - that's what I was trying to say without saying but you've got conviction! Tremendous job last week to you and yours, and tremendous job every week to Todd-o-Phonic!

  4:14pm P-90:

"Demigod Todd"!
  4:15pm Listener Robert:

I recall Gaylord Fields' having said on the program, probably in response to my query on the comments about stumping YLT, that you would have the best CHANCE of your request's being played if it wasn't obscure. That seems to warn right there that requests weren't guaranteed to be played, and therefore that the offer was in good faith.

However, the folks at WFMU seem so collegial, even with all the joking as in Andy's benediction, that I think they'll find some way to make it up to cosmic matrix, because I at least feel bad for hir.
  4:15pm JakeGould:

  4:44pm Finer Whiner:

Just to set the record straight (after two comically misunderstood phone messages)...geez, it's not even funny anymore...but I WAS FORCED TO...TUCK...MY...SHIRT...IN by the strip-club bouncer at Todd's bachelor party several decades ago.

  4:47pm Finest Whinest:

"Sir...would you PLEASE do me the favor, SIR, of tucking your shirt in? Sir, please! Please tuck your shirt in!" --doorman at Scores circa 1992
  4:47pm Todd:

Ya know this song is about lynching. It's been researched that all the places Chuck mentions fleeing were scenes of racist tragedy
  4:50pm IT'S REALLY HIM:

  4:50pm Listener Robert:

It just seems to be "Wabash Cannonball" w different lyrics. Is that one about lynching too?
Avatar 4:53pm cosmic matrix:

@all, wuz gone, just came back--didn't realize the whole "stump" aspect to it all--i called during the last 45 minutes of requests--the person on the phone was a newbie, she told me they'd play any song--i figured i'd take it fairly easy on them and picked the first ryan power song that popped up on youtube--thought that maybe an intern would try to learn it super quick or something--oh well. i don't hold it against fmu, just a misunderstanding!
