Yorkshire calling, present and correct. That Tammi song was so good, I fear you may have peaked too soon.
  3:36pm Alyssa:

Avatar 3:40pm statoj:

Sheila, Just want you to know I moved here in June last year to middle of nowhere and WFMU is the only decent station I get reception to in my kitchen, which is how I discovered your show. Such amazing good fortune! Now I sit in the parlor and listen to you. Best part of my week. Live long and prosper!
  3:42pm modchick65:

Really, really love this Amason song.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 3:43pm listener james from westwood:

That feeling when you hear a beautiful track on Sheila's show and you go to star it ... and you already did ... dig the hell out of this Amason!
Avatar 3:43pm djsheilab:

Avatar 3:44pm Evan From Seattle:

You kill it every week Sheila, and today is really knocking it out of the park! My pledge went in under my first name, so thanks for the shout out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Adrian in London:

Avatar 3:49pm Wild Neil:

@Sheila B-can you play some Anna German? She is a Polish singer who sings in Russian too I think...
Avatar 3:50pm statoj:

Computer#3 is a wacky sing! (I love it). 1968- must be about a mainframe, right? (Pre-apple, right?)
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Sean from Bridgeport:

Killing it, Sheila!
Avatar 3:57pm Joe B:

Also folks, keep in mind that WFMU's $1.2 million goal has not gone up in YEARS, but operating costs rise each year. So it is a modest goal that we MUST achieve!
Avatar 3:57pm statoj:

Doonebury cartoon skewered Wounded Warrior as a fraud this week. Much better to support WFMU. No rapelling required.
  3:57pm Listener Robert:

You use washable towels there? Not paper? Huh, maybe you should've taken the bubble bath I offered yrs. ago. Are we talking about washrags for the kitchen?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Adrian in London:

God, this sounds great!
  4:01pm Listener Robert:

Well, Joe B., it's been $1.2 M for just a FEW yrs. in my recollection. But Stn. Mgr. Fred Keenan did say financial conditions this yr. are the worst ever. Part of it is the absence of rent revenue from what's now Monty Hall.

How's this idea: hire out Monty Hall to dancercise classes. Seems it'd be great for that on the evenings you don't have use for it. And I'm sure dancercise makes $ !
Avatar 4:01pm The Contessa:

God, this sounds great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Adrian in London:

Dammit, our plan didn't work!
Avatar 4:02pm The Contessa:

@Sheila, wondering about Tick Tock…
  4:03pm Ra from Dispokino:

Just pledged 50$ - must confess it's the first time after years of listening. Cheers from Switzerland!
Avatar 4:03pm Joe B:

yeah, so how is not going up in 3 years not YEARS? costs go up every year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Adrian in London:

Oh wow, so pleased this is on the premium. Our car's going to be leaving the ground when we blast this out around Sanderstead! ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Lewis:

@Ra from Dispokino - Welcome to the Club! Glad to have you!
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 4:05pm JtotheK:

this pointer sisters is AWESOME -- thanks for spinning it!
  4:05pm Listener Robert:

I had some other use for Auricle's annual fin. statement recently: Seeing what costs were, assuming they were typical, for a program streaming operation. I wanted to add some facts to the speculation at BellGab.com on whether Dark Matter Digital Network could pay for itself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm SeanG:

gimme that FUZZ
  4:08pm modchick65:

Wow... that was the Pointer Sisters. Cool.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 4:09pm listener james from westwood:

If this is your usual time to head out of the office for the 4 pm coffee ahead of the commute, why not send a bit of that cash Sheila's way instead? She's your audio caffeine every Friday!
  4:10pm Listener Robert:

In cx w my above remarks, that's one of the great things about WFMU -- not only a great operation in its own right, but also showing the way for others.
Avatar 4:12pm Evan From Seattle:

I can't wait to get my hands on this premium. Such amazing stuff! This is why I canceled cable so I could give that money to WFMU.
  4:13pm P-90:

1966 and 1967 were close, very close. But 1968 was the peak.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm SeanG:

Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 4:14pm listener james from westwood:

Oh, agreed—FMU has such a better rate of satisfaction than even basic cable!

Do Not Sell At Any Price -- excellent book! who doesn't like reading about scuba diving in rivers in WI for 78s??? (incidentally, said scuba diving was done not far from a very great area record store...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Private Presley:

Very happy to see the evolution to 2001's Moonwatcher on the home page. Does that make the listeners the Monolith? Apparitions tuning in from another dimension.

  4:38pm Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

Citizenship! It's crazy how complicated it is. I just got mine and I've been here since I was 4 months old. The paper trail is nuts.
Avatar 4:39pm statoj:

I love Googoosh! You played her a few months ago!
Avatar 4:42pm Honeybear:

Actually, she's secretly Azeri.
  4:43pm P-90:

My maleness is being dangerously lured by her female singing voice
Avatar 4:43pm statoj:

Clay Pigeon, sorry to hear about KE. What is it with 2016? Losing one after another great. My g-g- generation...
Avatar 4:44pm djsheilab:

@Karen in Sleepy Hollow Your story sounds similar to mine! Been here since I was 2.
Avatar 4:45pm Honeybear:

As in, from the Turkic-speaking northern part of Iran (that otherwise might be part of Azerbaijan, but for various political machinations throughout the ages).
Avatar 4:45pm Honeybear:

@P-90 mine too. Wouldn't mine trading my gender for a voice like that, though.
  4:46pm modchick65:

It must be depressing to go through all of that to try to get citizenship only to have Trump as your potential president. My brother-in-law is going through that right now.
Avatar 4:47pm Honeybear:

Last heard this Afghan Whigs song around the time it came out, I think.
  4:47pm Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

I'm glad I finally get to vote but that means I can't run back to my homeland as easily if things go south.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 4:50pm JtotheK:

i've said it on this program before -- but this Crystals 45 is bananas! love it!
Avatar 4:51pm Todd-o-phonic:

Now that you've got the Jasper Woods 45 maybe I can score this Crystals single!
  4:51pm Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

It sure is! What a fab show, even during the marathon!
  4:52pm P-90:

@Honeybear: So the Azeri are not accepted as truly "Iranian" by the other Iranians?
  4:53pm modchick65:

The backing vocals on the Crystals record are fabulous.
Avatar 4:58pm statoj:

I have to leave now, but I hope you get your contributions up to 100! Trouble, you and Sheila make a good team! Xx
Avatar 4:59pm Honeybear:

@P-90: oh, I don't know all intercultural dynamics. But they are of a different language group (not even in the same language family as Persian/Farsi). And they were independent for a little while, at the beginning of the 20th century.

Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 5:03pm listener james from westwood:

Agreed, Evan! Where the hell else would I have heard this but here? Or maybe Warsaw.
  5:04pm ADL:

@P-90@Honeybear: Yeah, they're the dominant ethnic group in Azerbaijan, which borders Iran and is an independent country, formerly part of the USSR. Tho the Azeris are scattered throughout the greater Caucasus, much to the consternation of the Georgians, etc....
  5:04pm P-90:

This song is beginning to sound like an old favorite

Bliss. That track was bliss. Want it to go to a home with a turntable (temporarily without one!) but love it SOOOO MUCH!

"Io la conoscevo bene" or "I Knew Her Well" is a must for Stefania Sandrelli fans (you know who you are!), but also HIGHLY recommended to anyone who's fascinated by the 60's and 60's pop music and visuals.
