Hey Stashu! Great reading tonight at the WFMU Literary Guild thing at the KGB Bar! I mentioned a video of a drunk monkey with a knife in Brazil. Well, here it is! “Fire deparment Lt. Col. Saul Laurentino said the monkey drank a glass of rum at the bar before picking up the knife and chasing after men, leaving the women alone.” www.upi.com...

There's no cause to start and scream
Nor rub your eyes, this is no dream
Although I sit upon this chair
I rise and float up in the air

I have this fascination
No cause for a deviation
It's called levitation

Thank you Jake for the story and the link; why does that story sound so much like the title of a Tom Waits' song?
  3:09am
JakeGould:

Which story? The drunk monkey with a knife or the the pet buffalo that rides in a car with a Jersey Girl?
  3:11am
JimmyfromKearny:

You, know, I was referring to the drunk monkey with a knife; but come to think of it they both could be Tom Waits' songs...

Hey there, Ms. S! I had the flu all week and my sleep cycle is perhaps irrevocably messed up, but glad a side effect is the ability to listen live. Now I shall request "Pearl and Roy" by Mott the Hoople, just because. Dedicated to Kelly McGinnis.

In keeping with tonight's theme, let me mention the seminal science fiction series of novellas by James Blish,"Cities in Flight," written in the 50s and early 60s. These stories recount the futuristic adventures of the space-travelling city of New York as it journeys to the edge of our galaxy and beyond, encountering on the way hostile aliens, space pirates and the social consequences of the collapse of the galactic economy. Blish's influence continues i.e. the floating cities in Star Trek and Star Wars and the the 80s comedy-sci-fi radio series, "Space City," which in turn share many elements with "Switchboard Infinity."

Dosas are typical of the cuisine of Southern India. Southern Indian food is often vegetarian (except maybe for fish), and features tropical flavors like ginger and coconut.
