Hi ya, Faye!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm -Ken:

Hi all. A few more five star ratings should push Faye back to the top of the DJ charts where she belongs: www.ratethatdj.com...
Avatar 7:22pm Faye:

lol ok thanks Ken
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm Jeff from Rahway:

@Ken, is she driving for Lyft too?

Avatar 7:28pm Cliff:

Good evening Faye and everyone, good tunes so far
Avatar 7:28pm listener mark:

I clicked on the "sends secret messages to my brain."
Avatar 7:31pm Cliff:

Faye, the heart and sparkly-stars bump up the cuteness level of your headshot to be off the charts! :D
Avatar 7:33pm Cliff:

Andy Breckman is STILL ranked higher than Goebbels and Paris Hilton. Unbelievable
  7:36pm Carmichael:

That's because Andy votes early and often.
Avatar 7:39pm Cliff:

I thought the requirement to log in to Facebleargh was supposed to prevent that....on the other hand, I wouldn't put it past him to bribe his own son to add a backdoor for him
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm coelacanth:

good evening Faye and hello children
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm Gaylord Fields:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, folks. Happy St. Valentine's Day. What's next, rate a Supreme Court Justice?
Avatar 7:44pm Cliff:

Hi Gaylord, thanks for providing an excellent soundtrack tonight for my evening nap (I didn't get any sleep last night and finally had to crash)
Avatar 7:47pm Faye:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm Gaylord Fields:

@Cliff: Thanks — and that that, Sominex!
Avatar 7:50pm Cliff:

Heheh, I actually spent years taking either Benadryl or Unisom every night to help me to sleep until I started getting heart palpitations and got referred to a cardiologist, who told me, "You shouldn't take antihistamines daily for years on end, it can give you heart palpitations" (paraphrased, he used more authoritative-sounding medical speak)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm Gaylord Fields:

*take that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm Gaylord Fields:

WFMU is not for everyone. Do not take WFMU while pregnant or operating heavy machinery. Side effects include pregnancy or a compulsion to operate heavy machinery.
Avatar 7:54pm Faye:

can someone make that the slogan on the homepage? Ken are you still there?
Avatar 7:55pm Cliff:

In males too?
Avatar 7:55pm yukamichi:

Especially in males.
Avatar 7:56pm Cliff:

Hmmm, so maybe I need to see a gynecologist instead of a nutritionist then.
  7:56pm Carmichael:

If you're not healthy enough to have sex, do not take WFMU but instead consult a health professional.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm coelacanth:

the more you talk the better it gets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm coelacanth:

okay yeah, the music helps too.
Avatar 8:02pm glenn:

forget nuclear war, insomnia's a motherfucker.
Avatar 8:04pm Cliff:

Absolutely glenn, I've had it all my life and IT SUCKS
Avatar 8:10pm Cliff:

But this live set, it does not suck. It rules.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm Glenn L:

Thanks, Cliff!
Avatar 8:14pm Cliff:

You're welcome, Glenn L....are you the sound engineer?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15pm Glenn L:

Avatar 8:16pm Cliff:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm -Ken:

OK, Gaylord Fields' new slogan now in effect at wfmu.org
Avatar 8:25pm Cliff:

Thanks, Ken! Where is it on the page?
  8:26pm Carmichael:

Between my illuminati cat shirt, the cold medicine and this music, I have transcended this mortal plain. Oh look, there's Bowie!
Avatar 8:28pm Cliff:

And yet, you're still able to post here. It's a miracle!
Avatar 8:30pm Cliff:

Thank you, Tenniscoats! That was lovely.
Avatar 8:30pm yukamichi:

Cliff: sound of clapping :)
  8:33pm cheyenne:

That was lovely!
Avatar 8:36pm Cliff:

Thanks yukamichi..... I could tell it was a sound of something, but Japanese has oh so many of those onomatopoeia words ;)
Avatar 8:39pm Cliff:

Also, this song just popped into my head when you said that: youtu.be...

  9:17pm MONEYBAG$:

I would love some of the Felt albums on vinyl, maybe not all of them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm common:

good eve
  9:21pm DJ_Guy:

I had trans fx on when I filled in for infinite disto and they ripped me apart in the comments lol
Avatar 9:23pm Faye:

Avatar 9:24pm Cliff:

LOL, what'd they say to you DJ_Guy?
  9:26pm DJ_Guy:

lmao nah actually it was pretty tame, someone just said "wow"
Avatar 9:27pm Faye:

  9:27pm JakeGould:

I think “Trans FX” being on K records confuses some people. Almost like when “Chicks on Speed” had their collection released on K; unless it’s “twee” people get confused if it’s on K.
  9:29pm DJ_Guy:

Haha yeah we discussed the punks vs twee sweater tribe beef in Olympia in the interview
Avatar 9:29pm Faye:

idk Karp was on K way way way back near the beginning of K & they were pretty much a straight hardcore band
Avatar 9:30pm Cliff:

And which two bands define "twee" for you, JakeGould? (I assume there can only be two, as you stated before that shoegaze = MBV and Slowdive only)
Avatar 9:31pm Faye:

well ok not at the BEGINNING beginning but in the K heyday of the 90s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm common:

  9:33pm JakeGould:

@Cliff: I am not getting into this discussion. Technically speaking early, early, early Beat Happening was “twee” but really one or two albums later Beat Happening were far too hard and dark to be “twee.” People also got very confused by the whole Dub Narcotic Sound System stuff.
  9:34pm JakeGould:

For the record, I support K.
  9:34pm MONEYBAG$:

this sounds like they are trying to play "fast car" by tracy chapman but can't figure it out
Avatar 9:36pm Cliff:

JakeGould: it's ok, I don't even listen to twee or care how it's defined. I just wanted to remind/inform everyone else here about your insane stance on shoegaze. ;)
  9:37pm Carmichael:

Being very old and growing up in Ireland, "twee" has a not so positive connotation. But please, don't mind me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Scott:

Really enjoyed the Tenniscoats set, yeah!
Avatar 9:38pm Cliff:

On the other hand, I told you that I once ate matzoh with nutella and you got a little weirded out by that....we all have our oddities.
  9:38pm JakeGould:

@Cliff: There was this point in the early 1990s when bands like—someone will rip me for this—“Cub” came around and that’s when things became too twee for me!
  9:39pm JakeGould:

@Cliff: Why would someone eat a matzoh with Nutella? Your desire to avoid a discussion about that is why voters are confused.
Avatar 9:42pm Faye:

hey thanks Scott McDowell!!
Avatar 9:45pm Cliff:

JakeGould: because I thought it would taste good, or at least better than just eating the matzoh alone. And I was right!

(And I wasn't aware that I was running for public office, gotta cut down on those benzos huh....er, uh, I mean, I can neither confirm nor deny at this time that I am working on quitting a benzo addiction. (Shit, where's my press secretary?! And who are they? I really, really gotta cut back on the benzos some))
Avatar 9:46pm Peteski:

Hey Faye! Happy Luv Day. Hallo Kinder.
  9:46pm JakeGould:

This set is mildly melting my face off… Which is good on a day like this. Thanks!
  9:47pm Syd:

Hiya Faye!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm coelacanth:

Thanks Faye Thanks tenniscoats
Avatar 9:54pm Cliff:

JakeGould, I do prefer the heavier shoegaze to the happy, shiny, sugar-coated twee kind. My favorite MBV songs are "You Made Me Realise" with the "holocaust chord" in the middle, and "Nothing Is" from their last album, with the infinite thrashing hook of bliss.
Avatar 9:55pm Cliff:

And thanks Faye, Tenniscoats, and Glenn L for the show today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm coelacanth:

i don't know what "twee" means but still i'd be embarrassed to be called it!
Avatar 9:57pm Cliff:

I know, it rhymes with "pee-pee"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm coelacanth:

yes; that's exactly why.
Avatar 9:59pm Cliff:

It sounds like babytalk. But I guess that's the point for twee bands and listeners.
Avatar 9:59pm Cliff:

Ok, goodnight folks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51am Cooh John:

Nice to see the usual suspects on the comments board. Caught the archive on another cold winter's day. Listening to Tenniscoats while walking by tennis courts with a coat of snow. That works.
