Select videos from Golden Fest 2014 (thanks to Noel Kropf )

It's our eighth annual live broadcast from Brooklyn's legendary Balkan and East European music and dance blowout! Golden Fest is a massive two night gathering of musicians, folk dance enthusiasts and fans held at the spectacular Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn's South Slope.

It's a two night affair - tonight is the second night - at the spectacular Grand Prospect Hall, 263 Prospect Ave, South Slope, Brooklyn.

We'll bring you the action live from 6-9 pm at the Grand Ballroom stage, one of four stages with dozens of bands playing from 6 pm until 2 am.

Tickets, available at the door, include a fabulous Balkan / Mediterranean buffet dinner home-made on-site. (Beer is extra - but they usually have great East European dark beer!)

Over sixty bands will play on the four festival stages - Grand Ballroom, Chopin Room, Atrium and Rainbow Room - see the full schedule here. But the bands playing at the Grand Ballroom during the broadcast are:

6:00 pm: Cocek Nation: A stellar ensemble of young musicians, born at the EEFC Balkan Camp, ages 10 to 30, who play together with joy and incredible focus.

6:30 pm: Balkan Fields: Balkan Fields, from New England, led by accordionist Melinda Fields, features instrumentals from the Bulgarian, Serbian, Albanian and Romanian traditions. Fields has studied Balkan-style accordion with the legendary Bulgarian accordionist Ivan Milev, and includes in today’s program several tunes by Milev and bassist Mel Fitzhugh.

7:00 pm: Choban Elektrik: Psychedelic electric Albanian, Macedonian, Roma and Greek.

7:30 pm: Harris Brothers Balkan Band: Brassy. Traditional and contemporary. Slavic and Rom dance music, up close and personal. The HBBB bring charisma and joy to every performance.

8:00 pm: Black Masala: From Washington DC, part of a new generation of go-anywhere brass bands, infectious grooves result in a dance. party.

8:30 pm: Merita Halili, Raif Hyseni and Musicians from Montclair State University: Featuring star Albanian singer Merita Halili with her husband Raif on accordion.

Big thanks to Golden Festival founders and organizers the Zlatne Uste Balkan Brass Band and the Eastern European Folklife Center and the festival committee including Noel Kropf, Quinn Zannoni and Emerson Hawley; the festival tech crew led by Alison Goessling and Charlie Pilzer; WFMU co-host and tech guru Irene Trudel; and to the rest of our illustrious crew:
