A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

our copy of 3cd set of cult soviet era soundtracks producer mikael tariverdiev has no info on instrumentation. nov 17 episode of morricone island here at fmu has the real tuesday welds/stephen coates talking about this director.
  9:18am Felipe:

Thank YOUUUUUU!!!!!!!!
Avatar 9:20am βrian:

Joe was playing some Tariverdiev yesterday. Pretty interesting.

Love that version of "keep n moving"! All 3 wailers trade lead vocals, only track on which this happens, I think

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am AndrewC.:

Trouble, I never hear anyone else do that test. Are you the only conscientous DJ at FMU?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am tiago:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08am Webhamster Henry:

KAWZ-mish-er LOY-fer!
  10:09am Ike:

I've heard a lot of other DJs get stuck w/that test over the years! Liz, for one. Maybe Mary Wing too. You should listen more obsessively.
Avatar 10:09am βrian:

When I was a kid, I never, ever, wanted to be an astronaut.
  10:10am gibier:

Hi there!
Avatar 10:10am duke:

Sadly, I think I'm probably too old, too many family obligations etc. but if they're giving free space station trips, I'll consider signing up.
  10:11am Ike:

Disclaimer: Listening obsessively to FMU may have detrimental effects on yr ability to put up w/dumb music on other stations. Also you might grow a third ear on yr witch clavicle. Don't have a witch clavicle? You will!
Avatar 10:12am βrian:

Would a faked space station trip suffice? (We'll make sure the flag shadows point the right way this time.) [hee]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am Adrian in London:

Just in and tuned in! About to make Tuscan bean soup. You'll be playing soup-cooking music, I hope? ;-)

G'TZAG Trouble and everybody! When Pharoah comes on, I automatically get happy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am AndrewC.:

I just like the idea of all the other people happily ignoring FCC regs, while one DJ dilligently follows the rules to the letter...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am Trouble:

sounds delicious adrian. last nite i made an exhaustive search of my computer and sadly the lovely music you sent me did not turn up anywhere. i will seek it out on my own. thanks for giving me the heads up!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Adrian in London:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am Trouble:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am Trouble:

sugarplumwoolwolf: i want it to smell like woooool! i love the smell of wool, especially wet wool. i know that's crazy. when i was nursing dj icepack i used a lanolin cream that smelled super wonderfully like sheeeep
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46am Dave in Vermont:

@Andrew- they recently talked about the Natchez Trace on A Way With Words. Not generally good radio but fascinating subject matter. Also saw Dave Rawlings Machine a few weeks ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50am annie:

i'm still fascinated by the thread-work on that artpiece; attempting to break it down move by move...
  10:51am Mark R.:

Haven't had a chance to catch your show the last few weeks, Trouble--these last few minutes have reminded me how much I love your show. Roland P Young was so echoey and trippy and this Raga is the perfect follow-up. So glad I was able to tune in this morning.
Avatar 10:54am Howard F:

This Indian cello song is absolutely gorgeous!
Avatar 10:54am bobdoesthings:

What about your (vinegar) mother?
Avatar 11:07am bobdoesthings:

I've been neglecting my kombucha SCOBY for months.. it's sitting in what I imagine is some potent kombucha vinegar by now..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Webhamster Henry:

Sourdough starters and Kombucha mothers make great pets, but there is a Tamagotchi-like neediness.
  11:08am Wildneil:

If Vinegar is pasteurized it has no mother. *sniff*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Adrian in London:

I spent 12 hours, that's TWELVE HOURS, on Sunday hand-making panettone. You have to let it rest for four lots of two hours. In the end, it was a disaster. Heavy and not good. Edible, but not in any way like a panettone. But I redeemed myself with ricciarelli yesterday, probably the best patries I've ever made. //end of baking update
Avatar 11:09am cee:

love trouble's attempts at pronouncing some of these tracks
Avatar 11:11am βrian:

And here I thought panettone was a color palette.
  11:11am Mark R.:

Liz will be glad for that down all too soon!
  11:14am Wildneil:

Pantone. Got it!
Avatar 11:15am Utopiast:

@bobdoesthings I tried a Wild Cherry Kombucha beverage for the first time last week. Pretty potent. What will you do with your creation?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am AndrewC.:

I restrict my panettone intake to free samples from Carluccio's
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am AndrewC.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am Trouble:

@brian:my vinegar mother was years ago and it went bad. urg. i keep meaning to start another. next up is making kefir. that and the sour dough seem to be dependant on a warm space and my house is on the cooler side. no 70-80 degree weather at mi casa
Avatar 11:18am bobdoesthings:

@utopiast - first batch i did 11 re-used GT bottles.. did a few with ginger chunks, some with some mashed up raspberries, a few lemon and 2 plain,.. I definitely did not add enough fruit though.. not enough flavor.. or I didn't allow second/bottle fermentation long enough at room temp.. not sure.
  11:19am Wildneil:

@trouble-with a thermometer in it turn on then turn off your oven for a minute. It should get it up to 80 degrees. That's what my wife does to get dough to rise.
  11:20am Wildneil:

Then turn it off of course. Its insulated should stay reasonably warm for awhile...

We're getting all our customers into Elena Ferrante here in our bookshop too! Have heard only superior things about the series so far. I can now tell them that Trouble on WFMU highly recommends them :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am Webhamster Henry:

@Brian yeah, I always have the same Liz/Tony problem... but I also use the archives heavily! Tony, though, doesn't archive when he does "Tape Hiss" .. so Tony is usually my live pick.

My wife identified the music from "Diva"! We both reminisced about seeing the movie (independent of one another, and multiple times each) at the theater on 13th St. Would love to see a DVD release — I've pretty much forgotten the story by now.
