Afternoon ms kamikaze
Avatar 12:05pm V Priceless:

heya DK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Rich in Washington:

Greetin's, Diane! Fellow Kamikazes!
  12:08pm bionic brain drain:

Bob Seger? Live? I can't believe it? He came down off his mountain top?
  12:09pm Dean:

Bob's eager.
Avatar 12:11pm Tito "Pepe" Infidado:

Buenas tardes tiempo de amor y revolución de la roca!
Avatar 12:15pm Diane Kamikaze:

Good afternoon, all! It's just us chickens! Some new and old stuff on the agenda! Thanks for tuning in!!
Avatar 12:16pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

May I rock?
  12:19pm Dean:

It has only just occurred to me that DK shares a monogram with a popular publisher of informative books for kids. Does DK do rock? Yes, DK does rock: http://www.dkfindout.com/uk/music-art-and-literature/types-music/rock/
  12:20pm Dean:

"[H]eavy metal is a form of rock music that emphasizes rough sound."
Avatar 12:21pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Always thought this Kylesa track would pair nicely with the Levitation album [hawkwind] - similar vibe, exquisitely well done.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm common:

rock, you say?
  12:31pm Dean:

They do the other kind, too. http://www.dk.com/uk/9781405328319-rocks--minerals/ And metal. http://www.dkfindout.com/us/science/materials/metals/
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm chris:

Hello. And rock, we shall.
  12:35pm Dean:

"Vox" is Latin, voice. "Dieux" is French "gods," plural. "Malveillance" is French for "oyster cult."
Avatar 12:35pm V Priceless:

something from "Euroman Cometh", perhaps? woo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Dean - My kids loved DK books when they were younger. They were good sources of information.
Avatar 12:40pm V Priceless:

  12:41pm Dean:

@KFHP: Heck, yeah! One of the cookbooks (about grilling) I use most frequently is a DK volume. Kinda bugs me, though, because the photographs always depict the ingredients -- the mise en place -- all set out in perfectly measured little piles. Like I'm gonna do that!
Avatar 12:44pm jljl:

Coincidentally, I also did a show w/ a third to half French stuff at 10AM today on WMBR. If you're curious, the archive is here:
Avatar 12:45pm Cecile:

Avatar 12:46pm Cecile:

Got Sortiliege?
Avatar 12:46pm Cecile:

Did I miss Bob Seger? Did he do "Carry On My Wayward Son?" I hate that song
Avatar 12:48pm Cecile:

jljl, I'll check it out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Stevel:

Cecile: www.youtube.com..., Kansas via GWAR.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm coelacanth:

hello Diane and aural daredevils
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm doctorjazz:

Not a "Supernatural" fan, I guess. That song makes my teen daughter cry at the end of each season.
Avatar 12:49pm Cecile:

Also Gojira? With the cute brothers?
Avatar 12:50pm Cecile:

I do like the version of Dust in the Wind Will Ferrell sings in Old School.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm doctorjazz:

And, it is Kansas...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm coelacanth:

not that i hate Bob Seger in general, but he has his own songs i can hate.
Avatar 12:51pm Cecile:

I like old Bob very very much.
Avatar 12:51pm Cecile:

newer stuff is kind of OY. But he is a kind person and a loyal Michiganian.
  12:52pm Dean:

I saw Kansas during the Leftoverture tour. Not bad, actually. Not great, but enjoyable enough.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm coelacanth:

i was pretty into him in high school. i still like some of his music, now and then.
Avatar 12:53pm V Priceless:

Magic Bullet band, right? ; )
Avatar 12:53pm Cecile:

yes, with his hit single "Ninja Moves"
Avatar 12:54pm V Priceless:

A Beefheart/Seger hybrid collab
  12:54pm Dean:

I'm partial to "Get Out of Denver," but Eddie & the Hot Rods' traversal.
  12:54pm Pete L:

To Cecile etc - That was Kansas. See if you can find, by The BOB SEGER SYSTEM, "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "2 + 2 (Is On My Mind)" and "Heavy Music, Pts. 1 + 2" and go from there until the early 70's
Avatar 12:56pm Cecile:

Dave Edmunds also did a ridiculously good version of it, too.

Yes, we know. We're riffing off a joke Chris M. did about Bob Seger being on Diane's show and doing his hits like "Running on Empty". Chris M is kind of silly.

I do love all those records, Pete L. Great stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm coelacanth:

(i also really liked kansas back then...and still don't hate it.)

i don't know "ninja moves"...is that from his mediocre-rock period?
  12:57pm Dean:

Oh, yeah, the Dave Edmunds version! Forgot about that one. And everybody knows "Running on Empty" was John Cougar.
  12:57pm JakeGould:

Nice Lizzy Mercier Descloux right over here. Finished reading the Richard Hell book… *spoiler* But his screwing around on Lizzy while she was nice to him scrapped their marriage plans and pushed him towards going into drug rehab for real. That and his screwing over of Cookie Mueller.
Avatar 12:57pm Cecile:

It's actually Night Moves, but if you substituted a blender name for "night". When you said "Magic Bullet" I thought about that new blender.

I thought it was Eddie Money.
  12:59pm Dean:

No, wait. It was Meat Loaf, the song after "Paradise by the Dashboard Light."
Avatar 12:59pm V Priceless:

always enjoyed the riff in Seger's silly "Her Strut"

haha on the blender ref - I thought of that too
  12:59pm Pete L:

oh you are HILARIOUS!!!!!!
I'm from the midwest and could not believe how Bob Seger sold out - obviously I take music too serious sometimes... I am so gullible!
Avatar 12:59pm Cecile:

Richard Hell left a lot of unhappy ladies in his wake. It says something that someone rebounds with John McEnroe after a relationship with you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm chris:

Avatar 1:00pm Cecile:

Pete L., I am from MI and completely agree with you.
We all take music too seriously sometimes, Pete. It's a nothingburger.
  1:00pm JakeGould:

@Cecile: Yeah, he comes off as a tortured slumming prep school horn-dog in much of the book. But at least he admitted it. So hey…
Avatar 1:01pm V Priceless:

any fans of the french duo Air? I dig 'em...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm coelacanth:

-Eddie & the Hotrods did "get out of denver"? ...any good?
Avatar 1:01pm Cecile:

I like Air, and also the sometimes reviled Phoenix.
Avatar 1:02pm Cecile:

I also like more David Guetta jams than I should, but that's a whole 'nother story.
  1:02pm Pete L:

Air's early instrumental stuff esp is pretty cool
  1:02pm Clay:

Seger sold out? As in having hit records? I bet Iggy would have loved to have all those hits (fellow Michigander). Love Kansas, too. So many more artists worthy of scorn than those two.
  1:02pm Dean:

@coelacanth: OMG, yes. First album, pre-Graeme Douglas. Raw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm chris:

Yep, I like Air.
Avatar 1:04pm Cecile:

I have no problem with anyone having hits if they have hits with good songs. Most of Seger's non-regional hits were pretty dopey. I will stand by that opinion. I also said nice things about Bob Seger being a good Michiganian boy.
Avatar 1:05pm Cecile:

And Iggy did OK with songwriting for David Bowie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm coelacanth:

Thanks Dean. i just have "life on the line", and i think it's partly Great/partly kinda feeble.
Avatar 1:07pm V Priceless:

New DB single drops virtually tomorrow - LP Jan 8th....
Avatar 1:11pm Cecile:

Bonjour Cleveland!
Avatar 1:12pm jljl:

coelacanth: Eddie & the Hot Rods first two records are great as is their cover of Get Out of Denver. My fave Seger: Ramblin Gamblin Man
Avatar 1:18pm MenfussMike:

what the hell is this guy going on about?
Avatar 1:19pm Cecile:

IMSL! Iron Maiden as a second language! Hurrah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm coelacanth:

when "do anything you wanna do" was on the radio,i couldn't afford both albums and i chose the second; but if i had chosen the first,"get out of denver" wouldn't be on it anyway. it's a reissue bonus track.
i think now i must get both reissues. (as well as check out very early Seger, which i'm just slightly familiar with.)
Avatar 1:20pm MenfussMike:

give that guy some Maalox
  1:21pm Dean:

And the lyrics retell the joke from Airplane.
Avatar 1:21pm Cecile:

Rock me like un ouragan
  1:22pm Dean:

No, coelacanth, GOOD was on the original first LP. At least it was on the version I had. British issue, maybe? If you like DAYWD, dip in to Kursaal Flyers, too.
Avatar 1:24pm Cecile:

Le Laguna Coil.
Avatar 1:24pm Cecile:

Lacuna, sorry.
  1:24pm JakeGould:

What is this beautiful French noise? Oh, Eths!
Avatar 1:27pm V Priceless:

ooh...swell Air selection!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm coelacanth:

oh i don't know Dean. i's just going by wikipedia.
...i want your lp!
  1:28pm Dean:

Sadly, it was a casualty of the Great Purge of the late '80s, early '90s, when I unloaded hundreds of LPs. Dummy, dummy, dummy.
Avatar 1:28pm MenfussMike:

best song yet
  1:28pm Dean:

GOOD was on the 1977 US release: http://www.discogs.com/Eddie-And-The-Hot-Rods-Teenage-Depression/release/1046473
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm coelacanth:

aw man.
...i know i've been fortunate that i've so far always had relatives with big houses.-but i do need to get rid of 1/3-2/3 of them, sooner than later.
  1:31pm Clay:

I don't know, Hollywood Nights, Turn The Page, Main Street, Night Moves, Rock N Roll Never Forgets, Still The Same ... dopey? I just disagree.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm coelacanth:

i guess the wiki shows the brit release then...or it's just bumbling!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm coelacanth:

okay Dean, that's it. discogs also shows the uk release- different track list.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm coelacanth:

...anyway if i'm gonna get that album i'd just as well have all those bonus tracks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Polyus:

My only familiarity with Trust is from the Heavy Metal soundtrack. That song was a whole different thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm maestroso:

Avatar 1:40pm Luna:

Just now tuning in and what do I hear? MAGMA! Hola.
Avatar 1:41pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 1:52pm V Priceless:

Avatar 1:52pm Diane Kamikaze:

Avatar 1:52pm MenfussMike:

Avatar 1:53pm V Priceless:

Avatar 1:54pm V Priceless:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm chris:

golden woman, i would have thought... hmm...
Avatar 1:56pm Diane Kamikaze:

Wow, my bad - thought it was track title!
Avatar 1:57pm V Priceless:

I thought the translation was "The Argent Groupie"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm chris:

silver it is... my french is horrible
Avatar 2:03pm Diane Kamikaze:

Would there be anything wrong with being The Argent Groupie though???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Polyus:

Put a blanket in your bass drum? That's awesome.
Avatar 2:04pm Cecile:

Not really. And while you're at it, you could play Argent's "Liar"
  2:06pm Clay:

Good one, Cecile. I like Tragedy, too. That All Together Now Argent LP is good. Russ Ballard!
Avatar 2:07pm Cecile:

Russ Ballard's Winning is a great solo album.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Currently unable to listen, but the title of the song from Sweet reminds me of The Ramone's "I Wanna Be Sedated." I wonder how many other songs have titles "I Wanna Be ____." (Possible marathon premium idea in there somewhere.)
