Sad news about Allen Toussaint. He was scheduled to play City Winery on Nov. 29th. Always remember ...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Rich in Washington:

Good gawd! This song has evaded me for 30 years. Remember hearing it on the radio but had no idea who had done it. I can die now.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Parq:

  12:29pm Pete L:

Brilliant set
Avatar 12:30pm KP:

Happy Birthday, Liz Berg!
Avatar 12:30pm KP:

This Bixiga 70 has an Eight Miles High feel to it.
  12:32pm JakeGould:

@ChrisM: You can probably scrape off some letters to make the cake say, “IZ BE APP DAY” and then sell the cake to a dot-com startup.
  12:34pm david from radioactive ks:

,,,our rain registers radioactive and thats the unfortunate truth !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Ken From Hyde Park:

There needs to be an official-type web page with a calendar of the various WFMU birthdays. It would have a method for setting up reminders for us listeners so we wouldn't miss the chance to send greetings on the appropriate day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Liz Berg:

This is an easy trick to play because I don't exist on Facebook. There is no way to verify my birthday on the internet, therefore I am ageless.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Not existing on Facebook is a great trick in itself. A couple years ago, Station Manager Ken spoke of the dangers of being on FB. He'd never steer us wrong...would he?
  12:48pm JakeGould:

@KenFromHydePark: You know that Seinfeld episode where Kramer suggested putting up pictures of people with names in the lobby so everyone could be friendlier? That’s exactly what that official b-day calendar page sounds like…
Avatar 12:50pm Polyus:

Tempo changes are brilliant!
Avatar 12:50pm tonyb:

made the mistake of telling
google my d.o.b.
those people CANNOT keep a secret!
  12:53pm Pete L:

oh my god were those Spaniards?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Liz Berg:

I believe El Bien are from Argentina:
  12:55pm Pete L:

thank you this is your best show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Alejandroool:

great sounding show Liz, always miss the first bit because I only arise from the dead around 12:30-1
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Alejandroool:

El Bien... my family is Argentinean, I never hear too much good sounding stuff from there, will check it ooout
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Liz Berg:

I wish we'd get more stuff out of South America... there was a label called Los Emes Del Oso that was releasing super great weird stuff on the Free Music Archive for a while there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Alejandroool:

nice, will check that out too. I'm unaware of too much current stuff. The production values of a lot of popular "rock" music there are pretty uninspired
  1:18pm Pete L:

and how would you categorize El Bien?
I found some totally weird French(?) avant rock on FMA when I was looking for N African stuff - categorized as AFRICAN/ROCKABILLY
  1:18pm rainer quatsch:

meanwhile in the netherlands someone's on a train listening and living your show...
  1:19pm rainer quatsch:

.....loving your show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Cheynne's fill-in a couple weeks ago must've made an impression on someone. A caller to Dave Hill's show last night asked if Ephemeral Riffage was on the schedule. Next scheduled fill-in looks to be 12/25 in for Sheila B.
Avatar 1:25pm Chris from DC:

We should really get Morricone's birthday off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Liz Berg:

Nice, thanks Rainer Quatsch! Agreed, Chris from DC!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm sphere:

i would stand for the final confrontation music from "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm maestroso:

Is this new Newsom? It's very nice.
Avatar 1:39pm zinoy:

cool song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Ike:

Wow, awesome. This reminds me of FFWD a little.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Liz Berg:

Apprentice Destroyer recorded the whole album track by track in secret at Guitar Center!
  1:51pm Pete L:

were they working there or just going in and out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Ruh-ro, Rorge! The secret's out now!
  1:56pm Pete L:

I've seen movies with thinner plots than that! f ing awesome
  1:56pm insertculture:

I really do enjoy the selections
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Ken From Hyde Park:

My aunt & uncle have their 40th wedding anniversary this weekend. I looked up what was the #1 song in November, 1975, and it was "Island Girl" by Elton John.
Avatar 2:26pm Chris from DC:

Yeah, loved that Deaf Wish set.
  2:30pm Mark R.:

I haven't been able to listen that consistently today but every time I tune back in I have my mind blown. Case in point: Dan Friel!
  2:32pm Mark R.:

Takes me back to those halcyon days of mid-October!
  2:33pm Mark R.:

Tell the truth--it's exciting when those weather bulletins come in, isn't it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Liz Berg:

The weather notices would be exciting if they didn't take a full 2 minutes to print out onto our little receipt paper!
  2:36pm Mark R.:

Oh, the anticipation, though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Liz Berg:

Ha ha, you do bring up a good point, Mark R.!
