HI! AmNazz!
  12:02pm MONEYBAG$:

Was this requested by Seymour Skinner?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Amanda:

Nope, by Wiggum I believe
  12:04pm P-90:

Childhood memory: I cried and cried when Bobby Darin passed away.
Avatar 12:08pm KP:

Good afternoon, Amanda.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Uncle Michael:

Is this where I'm supposed to be?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Amanda:

Look in your heart, Uncle Michael, and you'll find the answer.
  12:12pm Dean:

Is it just me, or is the playlist theme today euphemisms for non-missionary positions?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Jeff Golick:

Look in your pants, Dean, and you'll find the answer.
  12:14pm MONEYBAG$:

You're on to something, Dean
  12:15pm Dean:

They're hanging on the line just now. Did I leave a penny in 'em?
  12:16pm Dean:

"Is that a roll of dimes in your pocket, or are you just mildly pleased to see me?"
  12:16pm Dean:

Okay. I'll stop.
Avatar 12:17pm KP:

Nice Monkees!
  12:20pm P-90:

Does that theory imply that the kitten/donkey gif is supposed to have some relevance to "non-missionary positions"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

#32: Cat Snuggles Burro...
  12:21pm Dean:

Do I have to spell this out, Dr. Rohrschach?
  12:22pm P-90:

BTW: Happy Birthday wishes to Revolution Rabbit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Cheers ! (yesterday)
Avatar 12:24pm KP:

Nellie McKay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm doctorjazz:

Wow, Nellie McKay, liked that.
  12:28pm MONEYBAG$:

A few weeks ago, I made the bad decision to combine Nellie McKay with cold medicine. It was a rough night.
Avatar 12:31pm ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
  12:34pm P-90:

Adjective of the Week Winner: "scrumminess"
  12:36pm P-90:

Darrin did have that impeccable showmanship, and also an unmistakeable, irresistible personal charm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Amanda:

I actually said "strumminess." "Scrumminess" is no word.
  12:39pm P-90:

I stand corrected. "Strumminess" makes more sense. Still the winner.
  12:39pm Dean:

Nope, "scrummy" is a word. Per OED, "Excellent, fine, ‘smashing’; enjoyable, delicious." As in "scrumptious."
  12:40pm MONEYBAG$:

"Scrumminess" gets 26,100 google results
  12:40pm Dean:

Yeah, well, you know what else gets google results?
  12:42pm MONEYBAG$:

sure, I just googled "upsidedown circus world"
  12:42pm Dean:

And I bet you had to turn off safe viewing settings before doing it.
  12:43pm P-90:

I wasn't going to belabor the point that scrummy, and by extension, scrumminess, actually are words, but the Anglophiles (and compulsive know-it-alls) had to chime in with clarification, so yeah.
  12:43pm MONEYBAG$:

don't try that at work
  12:43pm Dean:

Great band name: Compulsive Know-it-alls
  12:44pm P-90:

Lemme guess: does "upsidedown circus world" bring us back to "non-missionary positions"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Jeff Golick:

Those Royal Jesters had me thinking Mayfield.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Amanda:

OK, sorry to get heated there -- I should've known that is a word as I have indeed heard "scrummy" before (although it is kind of revolting, as words go).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& 'jammy' means lucky over there - as in 'jammy bastard'...
  12:49pm P-90:

A guess: "scrummy" can sound revolting because of phonetic resemblance to "scummy"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Amanda:

Actually, Derek himself probably said "Scrummy" BITD if you think about it
  12:50pm MONEYBAG$:

what is a jammy dodger?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Amanda:

P-90, not really because of that, more because "scrumptious" is a pretty gross and sickening word and concept. Now let's stop talking about this.
Avatar 12:51pm KP:

There is, or was, a band called Autosalvage?
  12:53pm P-90:

@Moneybags: in England, a "lucky bastard." In the US, a child who prefers not to wear pajamas to bed.
  12:53pm Dean:

You're right, Amanda. "Scrumptious" actually derives from a word meaning, ‘mean, stingy, close-fisted.' Done.
  12:53pm Doug Schulkind:

Hello, nazaroonies!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Amanda:

Hiya Doug!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Amanda:

@KP Autosalvage made only one album. But it was amazing!
Avatar 12:57pm ndbob:

True Amanda!
  1:03pm P-90:

Autosalvage is the band that made one great psychedelic album in 1968 before disbanding; also notable because the guitarist was Rick Turner, who later bulit sound systems for and did musical instrument repair/design/construction for the Grateful Dead and others. That distinctive little brown electric guitar you always see Lindsey Buckingham with is the Turner Model One, still hand-made in limited quantities and much coveted by players.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Jeff Golick:

What *don't* you guys know?

Apparently, this Halloween EC was handing out candy in my nabe with Steve Buscemi, on Buscemi's stoop. That must've been a scene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Amanda:

Maybe just healthy snacks that he claimed were "So Like Candy"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Amanda:

Wow, I think that is hilarious
Avatar 1:11pm KP:

Is there a new Nick Drake release? Getting a lot of play.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Amanda:

I am not aware of one. But ND is total autumn music though.
Avatar 1:13pm KP:

Thank you, P-90!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm doctorjazz:

Great set!
Avatar 1:16pm northguineahills:

Oh. reminds me I had to catch last week's special on the archive last Saturday night around midnight. It made it fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Amanda:

Thanks 4 listening @northguineahills!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The goggles! They do nothing!
Avatar 1:21pm northguineahills:

My wife and were laughing continuously.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm steve:

i still hear people say "ZE GOGGLES DO NOSSING!!" pretty often
Avatar 1:22pm northguineahills:

or "the googles do nothing.."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'Simpson's Time' would be a good little podcast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Amanda:

Eh, there are a bunch of Simpsons podcasts out there already but I have considered it!

BTW, thanks Nate for co-Simpsons Timeing with me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm steve:

the economy of jokes in this episode is incredible. peak Simpsons for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Jiminy jillickers!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...thing I like about podcasts - I got an old small iPod that'll shuffle 'em - which makes for like my own radio station of casts both short & long...
Avatar 1:32pm northguineahills:

One of my wife's best friends had questionable tastes in music (the better one's were from her bfs), but after her not getting any of our Simpson's references, she confided she never watched the Simpsons. She doesn't hang out w/ her as much any more.

My wife grew up watching the Simpson's in Mexico, so she was surprised how much better the voices/accents were in English, and how the jokes also made more sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Amanda:

Interesting... I have only heard Spanish-language Simpsons a little, but I'm always intrigued at the end of the credits on TV when they show the Spanish actors' names for SAP. There are fewer of them which means more people must do more voices.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Amanda:

Or, I mean fewer people do more voices.
Avatar 1:35pm northguineahills:

It's also how I worked on my Spanish when visiting her parents, since I have all of the Simpsons memorized.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I'm surprised how many voices Harry does: www.facebook.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Jeff Golick:

Re @Rev Rabbit's ipod comment above: I am currently mourning the recent death of my iPod classic -- which Apple doesn't make anymore. It wasn't quite 72, but had a good run.
  1:39pm P-90:

I have friends from the Netherlands, where The Simpsons are HUGE apparently, who learned quite a bit of English after they moved here by watching Simpsons episodes they already knew by heart, but now in the original English.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The Simpsons: Is there anything that program can't do?
Avatar 1:42pm KP:

Me too!
  1:43pm Dean:

Something tells me you might be an Amazing Blondel fan, too?
Avatar 1:44pm KP:

NP
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@P-90 - I wonder how they felt about the episode that made the Dutch Van Houtens so look inferior to the Danish Van Houtens? (The "Little Orphan Millie" episode)
Avatar 1:46pm KP:

That "Me too" was something else
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm steve:

Queers! i have not heard them in forever. nice.
Avatar 1:48pm KP:

These guys are contemporary! Very cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm steve:

years later that song still echos my sentiments on unambitious people
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Amanda:

I haven't heard Amazing Blondel very much but they are def up my alley, should delve into their catalog more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Amanda:

Sigh... found myself with that Queers song in my head this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I am unambiguously unambitious.
Avatar 1:51pm northguineahills:

I've somehow missed that Queers song.

Gathering laundry, so, thanks again for another lovely show.
Avatar 1:53pm KP:

i'll have to check in on Beginner's Mynd next time im in DC, which will be soon.
Avatar 1:54pm KP:

i think we have this very Brady LP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm steve:

that jogged my memory and now "Dont Back Down" (think i may have actually given my copy of the cd to the station) will likely be in my head for the rest of the day. they had some catchy songs.
  1:55pm P-90:

This nicely done.
Avatar 1:55pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Lovely show, young lady! Listened to most of it outdoors on this great November Indian Summer day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm steve:
