Everyone: WFMU is in the middle of Crunch Time, a month-long fundraiser that keeps us solvent until our Marathon in the Spring. This year, Crunch Time is featuring 2 unique and RAD T-shirts that you can choose between! Either a beautiful bird playing a record with its beak Flintstones-style, or a chipmunk playing hot lixx on a guitar. HOW COULD YOU LOSE WITH THAT S#1T. To pledge to my show, please use the banner at the top of this page. I appreciate ya!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar 12:04pm ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Jeff Golick:

See t-shirts in living color here: www.wfmu.org... !! (scroll down a tad.)
  12:06pm P-90:

Hi Amanda! Good to hear you live! I missed hearing the John Sebastian show live, but have enjoyed it twice (yes, twice) in the meantime. A rare treat! Oh, sorry to hear you had a "harrowing " commute today. I've had one or two of those myself recently... those will mash down on your soul if you let 'em.
Avatar 12:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Every kind of animal loves snuggling kitties.
  12:09pm P-90:

The kitty's loving it too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Jeff Golick:

It's like there's no end to the power pop I've never heard before. Yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Amanda:

I'm loving having you all here! P-90, thanks for the nice words re: John. Trying to not play any of his songs today and give him a rest, but I may fail. Dudes, those shirts are AMAZING and I honestly can't decide which one I want
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Amanda:

Dave Edmunds is like one of those shut-ins who are only attracted to anime characters, except for fictional women in songs.
Avatar 12:15pm ndbob:

Interesting observation there Amanda
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Dave Edmunds:

Yes, and?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Amanda:

Well, I mean I don't REALLY mean he's like that, I was only joking.
Avatar 12:19pm ndbob:

Ah i figured:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Amanda:

I'm just cranky because my horse didn't use its lip to caress my head today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Dave Edmunds:

Ok, well, that seems valid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Jeff Golick:

This set has been fantabulous, btw.
Avatar 12:29pm ndbob:

Amanda's show - the place for good obscure rodent songs:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Matt F:

This is probably better than the Bobby Darin version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm listener james from westwood:

"This bird's gonna fly! Waaugh!" [Chief Wiggum crashes through window]
  12:31pm Doug Schulkind:

Someone should do a mashup of Thelonious
  12:32pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Hello Amanda n'all. Enjoying the show from rural but connectivity challenged NE PA. Foliage change in full glory! I'm sure Alvin would enjoy scurrying around here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Jeff Golick:

I believe there is a funny use of the original Dr. Doolittle in a South Park ep.
  12:33pm Doug Schulkind:

and the Chipmonks.
  12:35pm Doug Schulkind:

Amanda, did you know that my oldest and dearest friend is the drummer on that Insect Surfers record?!?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Jeff Golick:

-00ps, make that The Simpsons.
Bad place to make that error.

I'm tired.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm listener james from westwood:

Not that the Mütter Museum's any slouch. Megacolon ahoy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Jeff Golick:

Don't google image search "megacolon," btw.
  12:39pm P-90:

I SHUDDER to think how much they might have wanted for "Bobby Darin Does Dr. Doolittle." (Especially if disk and sleeve were in real good condition.) But Dang, David Seville and Co. did a very, very nice job. Really impressive. I must have heard it in the way back then, but thanks for the reacquaintance. Dave [or Ross] was a really talented guy.
Avatar 12:40pm ndbob:

@Jeff yep - megacolon is a major issue in domesticated pet rats - not so much in lab rats
  12:42pm P-90:

I've got dibs on "Megacolon" as a band name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Amanda:

My best friend from college wrote Dr. Mutter's Marvels (sorry too busy for umlaut), which I recommend to all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Jeff Golick:

I'll be over here with a bowl of Colon Blow.
  12:45pm Doug Schulkind:

I remember when Dan Buccino answered the "Drummer Wanted" ad that Dave Arnson posted when he was starting the Insect Surfers. It was a few months before we graduated high school. I went off to college and Dan went off to play in a rock band and I was so jealous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm listener james from westwood:

Amanda: Holy Christmas, that was an excellent book! Tell her I thoroughly enjoyed it, all the more for my having visited the museum before learning about the doc through her work!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Amanda:

Next time she comes into town, y'all should go to one of her lectures too, she is really charming and hilarious in person.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Amanda:

@Doug, the Insect Surfers are so great! You're right to be jealous!
  1:01pm MONEYBAG$:

How did Micky go from that to being unattended in the dungeon?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Amanda:

@MB$, I guess she decided she didn't want to spend her life with him!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm doctorjazz:

Hi-gotta post when I hear Richard Thompson, especially this underappreciated album.
Avatar 1:07pm ndbob:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm listener james from westwood:

"Boy, this guy's got more bread than a prison meatloaf! He's rich, I tell ya! Hey, who'm I talking to?!"
  1:24pm Sean:

Mr. Burns: You, foodbag - do you have a son?
Homer: Yes sir, I do.
Mr. Burns: And is he a constant disappointment? Does he bring home nitwits and make you talk to them?
Homer: Oh, all the time! Have you ever heard of this kid Milhouse? He's a little wiener who--
Mr. Burns: Fascinating. Goodnight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Marge:Careful of the apple pie on the seat.
Grandpa: Uh-oh!
Marge: Grandpa, are you sitting on the pie?
Grandpa:I sure hope so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm listener james from westwood:

"He spelled 'Yale' with a '6'."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Amanda:

A+ to the design on Burns's roommate, as well
Avatar 1:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm listener james from westwood:

So what? So let's dance!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Nice work on framing this Simpsons Time episode, Amanda.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Brian in UK:

Not really up with Rodney Dangerfield; was his autobigraphy originally really to be called My Love Affair With Marijuana.
Avatar 1:47pm northguineahills:

Thanks Amanda, gotta vamoose!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Amanda:

I recently read that John Sebastian opened for Rodney Dangerfield once and was booed off the stage. It makes me feel bad, but also I want to meet that show organizer to tell him/her that the bill was 30 years ahead of its time
Avatar 1:53pm ndbob:

excellent show Amanda!
Avatar 1:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah Thx AmNazz !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Amanda:
