Hey everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm chris_in_space:

Hey all. I've got one ear on the show tonight, the other on Jays vs. Yankees. Jays just recorded first run of the game at bottom of 6th. Oh yessssss.

- love Renegades version !
...efd delivers !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm chris_in_space:

Will do efd. You are a Mets man, correct?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm efd:

Red Sox primarily, then Whoever's Playing The Yankees, then Mets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm chris_in_space:

btw I LOVED that Royal Headache tune. That's the stuff right there.
Avatar 9:13pm JakeGould:

  9:14pm Eric:

Sox and Rays are tied right now
  9:14pm Bootsie:

That Renegades version totally smokes.

I have this record! I love this song!

Avatar 9:22pm JakeGould:

Folks, let’s not forget the Pope is in the U.S. and coming to NYC tomorrow night and will be here Friday… So plan accordingly because commuting anywhere is going to suck.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Stevel:

How could I possibly miss Thirteen Women! Attending to responsibilities, no less. [sigh]

This is a hot-shit set!
  9:27pm Eric:

Do you think the Pope will listen to WFMU in the pope mobile? Does the pope mobile have a radio?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Stevel:

I'm expecting traffic in Fort Wayne to be manageable, but I'll head to Milwaukee tomorrow night just to make sure. Of course, that could be for ribs, amazing tequila and better-yet friends. Hard to say.
Avatar 9:30pm JakeGould:

When all is said and done this Pope week will be remembered by me mainly as the week I bought L.E.D. light bulbs and also the pizza rat.
Avatar 9:31pm Ryab:

What is this music bed?
  9:33pm P-90:

Tonight: Special Evan Pope" Davies Edition

Looking forward to the Warriors --er, The Worriers live set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm Stevel:

Oh, holy pizza rat. do you deliver us from hunger and deprivation? Yea, verily, and all that jazz.
Avatar 9:33pm bobdoesthings:

I have that Vagrants record.. it's mostly great.. some weak points.. but worth getting. Bob recommends things.
Avatar 9:35pm bobdoesthings:

@jake - you get the warm temperture LED bulbs.. my one complain with the energy efficient bulbs is that the color of them is so cold/bluetinted.. You gotta go out of your way a bit to find the warm tinted ones sometimes.. worth it IMO
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm Stevel:

Try 4 years back. Time flies.
The history of Thirteen Women.
Avatar 9:35pm JakeGould:

@Stevel: Look out “Pizza Rat!” Here comes “Shake Squirrel!” www.youtube.com...
Avatar 9:37pm JakeGould:

@bobdoesthings: Ikea of all places has decently “warm” tintedLED bulbs. They are 40 watt equivalents running at around 6 watts and work nicely for my purposes. $4.99 for a two pack. WHAT A BARGAIN!!! (I know this stuff because I bought some today.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Damn, I missed Worriers in Worcester last night. Stupid broken-down truck.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Stevel:

"Shake Squirrel", while entertaining and an impressive physical display, lacks the struggle and general evocation of disgust that we experience when seeing our most reviled vermin clumsily make away with one of our most revered foodstuffs.

Viral Review.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm chris_in_space:

Russell Martin just whacked a 3-run dinger to make it 4-0 Jays at B7th. Feeling pretty good over here.
  9:41pm P-90:

Oh I see: just "Worriers", no "The".
I like her voice. Cool photos, too!
Avatar 9:41pm JakeGould:

@Stevel: And “Pizza Rat” was a rat with a pizza in the subway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Stevel:

That too!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm Stevel:

Does having the Pope (or other such folks) visit generally croak the entire NYC grid? A flat-lander inquires.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm efd:

@Stevel, not the whole grid but certain sections are going to be pretty tough to navigate Thursday and Friday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm efd:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50pm efd:

well I think it's great anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm sashajones:

into it!!
Avatar 9:53pm JakeGould:

@efd: I think it’s great too! I just was doing other things instead of typing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm chris:

great set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm efd:

I'm just giving you guys a hard time! I realize you're all rocking out too much to be typing.

  9:56pm P-90:

Nicely rocking out, and I'm always blown away by the consistently primo engineering on WFMU live sets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm efd:

@herb.nyc they're younger than me, but that's not saying much!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm efd:

I'd put the age range of the members at mid-20s through mid-30s.

Why was Tom Verlaine so mad at that ventriloquist anyway?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm steve:

Marquee Moon is definitely the most significant record i found in any suburban nj garage sale as a teen
Avatar 10:22pm JakeGould:

@efd: Acceptance of “Pizza Rat” into your life is your only salvation now.
Avatar 10:24pm JakeGould:

@eyenoise: That lyric reminds me of Señor Wences and Johnny.

excellent, thanks chris! Unfortunately the Rays are pummeling the Red Sox. but that's the way it goes.

Easter and the Totem!? Wow! How did I never hear of them?
Avatar 10:33pm David Shortell:

As usual when the subject of "Thirteen Women" is broached, I present this clip of Marcello Mastroanni tripping the light to Bill Haley's rendition in Luchino Visconti's 1957 film adaptation of Dostoyevsky's "White Nights".

@DavidShortell: Nice!

Digging the Uitimate Painting set. Kind of like a series of Meat Puppets 45s played at 33. And I mean that in the best way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm efd:

@john That's an angle I hadn't thought of!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm Santos L Halper:

Yes indeed, these guys sound great tonight. Thanks efd!
  10:49pm Tommy:

Very nice ! Diggin the Ultimate Painting
  10:51pm john:

Of course, I'm going to like virtually any 45 played at 33, so consider the source.

Nigel Tufnel-esque levels of sustain just now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm efd:

@Jeff from Rahway - cool, glad you got to see them live!
  11:01pm Julie M Brooklyn:

It's all about the sustain.
Avatar 11:01pm JakeGould:

Dude sounds like Nigel Tufnel… “None more black…”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm efd:

maybe I should have stuck to the political discussion! At least those questions were coherent. unlike some of these!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm efd:

Avatar 11:06pm Kevlicki:

missed the live set! will have to check out the archive...
  11:08pm Julie M Brooklyn:

Hey, efd, I should listen more often, and I might just.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, folks. Been running around this evening and checking in occasionally. One of the three bulbs in the kitchen ceiling fan lights went out recently. Daughter convinced me to replace all three with LEDs. Now I need to find a way to use the two good incandescents. They have the little bases and don't fit in typical light sockets.
  11:17pm KP:

Hey Evan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm efd:

greetings Ken fHP and KP! and Kevlicki!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm efd:

all the K-names showing up at once
Avatar 11:19pm JakeGould:

@KenFromHydePark: Wait… So remember that night we both had salads. Well guess what? Today I went out to get LED bulbs to replace all my fixtures I use daily that use compact fluorescent. What is this syncrhonicity here?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Ken From Hyde Park:

It's Yom Kippur Karma or something, I guess.
Avatar 11:24pm JakeGould:

@KenFromHydePark: Maybe… But my timing was bad. I went to Ikea earlier in the week and it was empty during the day. So I went today thinking it was the same… But yeah, everyone had off for Yom Kippur so they apparently flooded the store today to just buy furniture while I just want like a handful of bulbs for cheap.
  11:24pm john:

This is awesome. Why don't more bands in 2015 acknowledge their enormous debt to BTO?
Avatar 11:28pm JakeGould:

“The Upper Crust” owes an enormous debt to “AC/DC.”
  11:30pm john:

OK, Carousel also owes Foghat.
Avatar 11:34pm Danne D:

Hi EFD and Funk Fans :)
Sorry for the late check in :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm efd:

I've gotta try to get those Carousel dudes over here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36pm efd:

hello Danne!
Avatar 11:40pm JakeGould:

Is Carousel’s “2113” a reference to Rush’s “2112”
Avatar 11:44pm Danne D:

Wow the streams have been around that long?!
  11:46pm P-90:

...Well, if Joe called it "the party of the year"...
Avatar 11:56pm bobdoesthings:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm efd:

thanks for listening everyone! See you in a couple of weeks - make sure Julie feels at home next week.
Avatar 11:57pm Danne D:

Avatar 11:58pm Danne D:

Have a good break EFD :) Glad you got such a great fill-in for next week :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:
