An ongoing soundtrack for the as-yet-unwritten memoir, "A Hundred Years of Solid 'Tude." Primitive pop, lo-fi skronk, malfunctioning electronics and a few juicy morsels from the Free Music Archive.

Avatar 9:25am Cheyenne:

This comp came out before the "Who Is William Onyeabor" collection, so this was the first song I ever heard by him. I was instantly in love!

Moral of the story: Pastries taste better when you imagine they are from somewhere else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am Gary:

Forgive me for dorking out, but: "In Danish, Norwegian and Swedish, the term for Danish pastry is wienerbrød/wienerbröd, "Viennese bread".[10] The same etymology is also the origin of the Finnish viineri. Danish pastry is referred to as facturas in some Spanish speaking countries. In Vienna, the Danish pastry, referring to Denmark and Copenhagen, is called Kopenhagener Plunder or Dänischer Plunder" See: en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar 10:02am Jeff:

During Horn Talk, are we going to get to the Sackbut (just because it has the best name)?
  10:03am listener james from westwood:

All this talk of pastry and brass has me craving almond horns.
Avatar 10:13am duke:

Has anyone ever played TV Eye on the french horn?
  10:13am listener james from westwood:

Digging the riffage Cheyenne! And speaking of ephemeral, got an email the other day at work saying our "server has a weak, ephemeral Diffie-Hellman public key". Should I be worried?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51am Greg from ZONE 5:

Vatican Rag!
Avatar 11:34am Jeff:

Wow! Second appearance of The Vatican Rag on WFMU in a week!
Avatar 11:45am Jeff:

Always good to see some Lehrer love.

I loved, and memorized, a bunch of Tom Lehrer songs as a little kid, without entirely understanding what they were about. Details fell into place gradually, over the course of decades, in little aha! moments as I ran across references to the ancient political history lampooned in those songs I could still play back in my memory, or sometimes just eventually learned what a word meant.
  11:46am listener james from westwood:

Still kicking myself for not seeing Crisp during the NYC leg of his last tour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am Greg from ZONE 5:

My calendar is pretty full of love parties. It's like every other night.
  11:48am listener james from westwood:

@Jeff: A freshman year HS teacher of mine once idly said, "We will all go together when we go." When I rejoined, "Every Hottentot and every Eskimo," I thought he was gonna shit.
Avatar 11:49am Cheyenne:

Clarence Reid gets his kicks by making skippy discs
Avatar 11:49am Jeff:

I'm still kicking myself for not asking Crisp to tea, an invitation he was reputed to be likely to accept if one asked.
Avatar 11:51am Cheyenne:

I'm still kicking myself for not BEING Quentin Crisp!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am Uncle Michael:

I'm kicking myself for missing this show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Greg from ZONE 5:

Thanks much, Cheyenne!
Avatar 11:58am Jeff:

That bit of the Tarzan yell at the beginning of Rockin in the Jungle makes me wonder anew about whether Johnny Weissmuller was actually doing the yell himself. Reports vary.
  11:59am listener james from westwood:

thanks, Cheyenne!
