What's shakin', @DJ Snazzy AmNaz?
Avatar 12:01pm Okasa:

Good afternoon Amanda et al.
Avatar 12:01pm ndbob:

afternoon Amanda, Sugar, everyone!
Avatar 12:01pm KP:

Good afternoon, Amanda.
Avatar 12:02pm KP:

Does that little guy have a hedge fund?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Artie Haywire:

So, it's on!
  12:02pm listener james from westwood:

afternoon, amanda!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Afternoon, Amanda and all!
  12:04pm P-90:

I like that guy with the autumn leaves. First impression: a bit spiky, but engaging.
  12:09pm MONEYBAG$:

who is more punk rock than that hedgehog?
  12:10pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...a hedge fund for the leafier suburbs...
  12:11pm listener james from westwood:

this gay cat park cut is electro-delish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Amanda:

Hey all you hedgehog managers out there! Let me be probably not the first to say, WHERE IS THIS GAY CAT PARK and when can I visit it.
Avatar 12:12pm Okasa:

That little guy looks to be searching for gold rings...
  12:13pm listener james from westwood:

"dad, why'd you take me to a gay cat park?"
Avatar 12:15pm KP:

Medical Records, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Uncle Michael:

Spiny Norman?
Avatar 12:20pm steve:

fun fact - Sega of Japan originally wanted to name Sonic the Hedgehog "Mr. Needlemouse"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Amanda:

  12:20pm listener james from westwood:

the proper answer to "when do i want to hear 'stardust'' is "right the frak now."
Avatar 12:21pm Okasa:

I read that Stardust's composer, Hoagy Carmichael, said that his favorite version was the Boswell Sisters.
  12:24pm listener james from westwood:

Pointless "Casino" trivia: Unable to use the name of the actual casino De Niro's character managed in real life, Martin Scorsese included like 3 or 4 versions of "Stardust Melody" on the soundtrack as a massive wink to the way things really went down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Uncle Michael:

Amanda, yesterday, Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon told his players to come to the ballpark early and to bring their families...with no explanation.

He'd brought in a petting zoo. I saw footage of the friendly flamingo coming up to all the peoples in the clubhouse.

I do not know if there were hedgehogs.
  12:25pm KP:

The Searchers!? Wow
Avatar 12:25pm ndbob:

Someday I will go to the Hoagy Carmichael archives here in Bloomington
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Uncle Michael:

This Searchers album on Sire was a yooge favorite of mine back in '81.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Amanda:

Wow!!!!!! I want to pet a friendly flamingo. Just like Manfred Mann.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Greg from ZONE 5:

@Uncle Michael: Joe Maddon rules. Good fit for the Cubbies.
  12:33pm KP:

Nice Lion!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Uncle Michael:

I agree Greg!
  12:35pm KP:

Uncle Mire I had no idea. Thought they were novelty act by then
Avatar 12:36pm Roberto:

I used to substitute teach high school in the early '90s. You can imagine how many kids signed the attendance sheet as "Hugh Jass."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Amanda:

This is Jaill, not Jale, for you homophone enthusiasts.
Avatar 12:40pm Roberto:

Yikes those "kids" are now pushing 40. F I'm old.
  12:48pm frenchee:

Hi AmanNAZZ, hi folks!

Now I'm sulky cuz I wanna pet a friendly flamingo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Mike East:

Yo La Tengo rehearsed here last weekend. Probably the first time I was ever bummed that I don't work on Saturdays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Amanda:

@Roberto, I guess those kids are my contemporaries (as if I couldn't have guessed by their Hugh Jass-loving ways.)

@frenchee, I know!!!
  12:55pm Dean:

UCLA's research library at one time had a plaque honoring an important professor on campus, Hugh Gilchrist Dick. The middle name was initialized.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Amanda:

  12:57pm Dean:

Those were the days when you judged a man's endowment by the size of the velour elbow patches on his tweed jacket.
Avatar 12:58pm Okasa:

If Amanda was a real Simpson fan, she would legally change her last name to Huggenkiss.
  1:10pm KP:

I saw a reunion gig by Vandals fairly recently. Leslie West was not aboard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm sugarwolf:

I watched Telstar the Joe Meek movie this summer, and even though I know how it ends, it was more depressing than I anticipated!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm sugarwolf:

It had a lot of cute boys in it, so that was ok.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Amanda:

"Everything we do is done exclusively for you 'cause we're the Vandals" is illogical but still great.
  1:13pm KP:

Sugarwolf I saw Telstar on plane going to London. Could not believe that bizarre thing was being shown to a captive audience. Difference between UK
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Yogi Berra never appeared on The Simpsons, did he?
  1:16pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...this is *not* Mark Lanegan ! ! 'Steve Von Tll' - hm !...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Amanda:

@sugarwolf Cute boys are a great equalizer in so many things. @Ken, no, regrettably!
  1:18pm P-90:

I know I'll see the Joe Meek bio movie, but so far I've been holding off, I've been sticking mostly to upbeat stuff lately, and I'm pretty sure "Telstar" won't leave me feeling upbeat. Just a guess.
Avatar 1:19pm steve:

looks like i got back in time for Simpsons Time, right?
  1:20pm KP:

P-90, I was surprised the people on the plane didn't walk out
  1:20pm P-90:

I think Amanda will confirm that Yogi never did The Simpsons, but he sure did The Munsters...
Avatar 1:22pm steve:

  1:22pm listener james from westwood:

w00t! ducked out for a sec but back in for simpsons time! i vote dean-o.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Uncle Michael:

I watched an episode of Inspector Morse last night that featured Con O'Neill who played Joe meek. In the climactic scene he once again dies by firearms.
Avatar 1:23pm Okasa:

Dean Martin!
  1:23pm KP:

Roma for the Popa
Avatar 1:23pm Joe non Papa:

A - Dino
  1:24pm P-90:

I've known a few real-life "outside" artists who really reminded me of Homer Simpson. Uncanny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm sugarwolf:

Mental illness and illegal homosexuality is such a downer, WHO KNEW???

JJ Feild, tho.
Avatar 1:28pm northguineahills:

la grille, what the hell is that!!!??
Avatar 1:31pm steve:

thats my fav line ngh!
  1:36pm P-90:

@Amanda: too much? I've not yet heard a single Simpson Time that was too long. Cross my heart.
Avatar 1:38pm northguineahills:

I took a siesta around 12:45, but kept Amanda on, and woke up w/ Lenny & Carl.
Avatar 1:40pm northguineahills:

I know who's missing, james had a work trip today. Wednesdays aren't the same.
  1:45pm listener james from westwood:

thanks, ngh! i'm here but beset by page proofs! plus that was a rare 10th-season ep i've not seen!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Amanda:

Ah, I think he was here incognito a little while ago, but yes I agree!
  1:46pm KP:

Fred Neil could be the most underrated of them all
Avatar 1:50pm Dominick:

Better late than never.
  1:51pm KP:

Wow this is awesome. Who, what?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Amanda:

Welcome all latecomers!
Avatar 1:56pm ndbob:

Avatar 1:56pm northguineahills:

  1:56pm KP:

Skip Battin, Byrds!
  1:56pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Stevel:

Too short, but sweet! See you next time!
Avatar 1:59pm Okasa:
