Avatar 9:46am northguineahills:

In 1997, my roommates drove from FL to DC, and at an after party bar, ran into Ian Svenious, and hung out w/ him that night and the next. He gave us some vinyl, and he was a stand up fun gentleman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am Stevel:

THIS playlist!! Einstürzende Neubauten. Slim Whitman. Slim Whitman.

Avatar 10:07am Cecile:

I have to give tiny props to Mackelmore for having him, Caz and Melle Mel on the VMAs with him. Also? Melle went bare chested, even though there's so much more of him to love now

Avatar 10:11am Cecile:

wasn't this the guy who wrote the theme to the Young and the Restless?
Avatar 10:13am bobdoesthings:

I never understood The Warriors... like.. once they make it back to "their turf" ... everyone is still going to be after them.. what was their real plan..
Avatar 10:14am pierre:

Strawberry Letter 23 !
Avatar 10:14am Marcel M:

Ferk yeah! Strawberry letter 23!
Avatar 10:14am Cecile:

criminals are not generally good long-term planners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am JtotheK:

strawberry letter 23 is so, so, so much better than letters 1-22.
  10:15am Wendy del Formaggio:

I love Strawberry Letter 23! A highlight of this summer: seeing Shuggie Otis perform it in Northampton, MA. *swoon*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am Bronwyn Bishop:

Damn, Einsturzende Neubauten and then Flower Travelin' Band! Awesome! Also, love the Brothers Johnson.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am JtotheK:

@wendy - that sounds great!
Avatar 10:16am Cecile:

this song was a lifeline when it came out. So much lame pop in '77, no matter what the revisionists want you to believe.
  10:17am Wendy del Formaggio:

JtotheK: it was. The entire band was H-O-T. What a treat to see that show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am JtotheK:

and now a suicide appearance -- great show this morning!
Avatar 10:18am bobdoesthings:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am Ken From Hyde Park:

I vote "Yes" on SL23. RIP Louis "Thunder Thumbs" Johnson. youtu.be...
Avatar 10:24am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Wigkey say re Suicide: ...'In a November 1970 flyer the band was the first ever to use the phrase "punk music" to advertise a concert'...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37am Greg from ZONE 5:

Morning, gang!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am Stevel:

Hadn't realized Suicide was active in 1970. "Punk" makes sense, certainly from the leather-jacket point of view.
Avatar 10:43am Cecile:

I remember reading Rolling Stone and they were rolling their eyes at them, even back in the early 70s
Avatar 10:49am Cecile:

WOW. Another gem I never encountered.
Avatar 10:50am Cecile:

I wish dance GoF sounded this good.
Avatar 10:53am Cecile:

I'm playing Carcassone on my ipod and humming "my swine is the bassline"
Avatar 10:55am Cecile:

doe-joe-gee, maybe?
Avatar 10:56am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Suicide - *early* 70s - just two guys, one w/ a synth - & Vega used to go into the audience & throttle people w/ his mike cord. You kiddin' me?
Avatar 10:58am Cecile:

nope, that's pretty much what they did. Their first record didn't come out until punk happened - '77
Avatar 10:59am Cecile:

another band that England had to sell back to us.
Avatar 11:00am Marcel M:

Oh man, I wasn't paying attention and I thought the phone emergency sound was a cool track about to start haha.
Avatar 11:00am Marcel M:

I was like, ohhh this is gonna be cool! Sounded like a crazy organ.
Avatar 11:02am bobdoesthings:
