Avatar 3:05pm Billy Jam:

hey Brownwyn B, Chris, Loop, Cecile - thanks for joining the show today…..gonna be music heavy and good IMO - Let me know if the levels sound off (too loud at any point) here on the comments - thanks guys - and give a big shout out to Mighty Grouse for engineering for 3 hours today
Avatar 3:09pm Cecile:

this is great.
  3:10pm spodiodi:

Last track was hot.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 3:12pm chris:

Thanks, Mighty Grouse! We owe you at least one ___! You fill in the blank.
  3:12pm loop skywalker:

levels sound on point :)
Avatar 3:12pm Billy Jam:

TIME is the topic of today (and everyday of our lives when u think about it)……..If I could control time, and time travel I would go back a few years and spend one more quality day with my dad…….then I would go back and visit others dear to my heart who have passed on…..BUt then I would start time traveling to meet all my other heroes…..like zap back to 1981 to meet up with Bambaataa or 73 to meet up with Kool Herc (both previous guests - recent era - on this show)
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Time waits for no one. Yay, Billy Jam!
  3:14pm loop skywalker:

id go back to undo a few wrongs i done in the past and all the things i did right i would do them righter :)
Avatar 3:15pm Cecile:

I'd go back and give my younger self more real confidence instead of false bravado and arrogance.
Avatar 3:16pm Billy Jam:

so with TIME being the topic O day - I ask you A: does time run faster now for you than few years ago? Do you value time more now? If you could time travel where/when would you go?
Avatar 3:17pm Billy Jam:

OH yeah I'd go back to when I first started out in radio in early 80's when the FCC wasmnt so damn restrictive…..no curses edits needed in 1984
Avatar 3:17pm Cecile:

yes it does. yes I do. Australia 1975 or Ann Arbor 1987
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Bronwyn Bishop:

A song about the year I was born! Yay!!!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 3:20pm chris:

i def value time more now that i did last year or back even further. and it does seem to move a bit faster all the time. going back in time to spend more time with my pa would be awesome. i spend a lot of time these days trying to run toward what i value, rather than running away from what scares me, as i did in my youth
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Bronwyn Bishop:

A. Yes time goes too fast these days. I feel like last week I was 18 but that was three years ago and now I'm an old maid.
B: Yes I value time more now because I don't have much youth left.
C: No question, I would visit the 60s and possibly stay there forever. I just wasn't made for these times, man. *takes bong hit*
  3:21pm loop skywalker:

Man,time actually is going way faster now im old.Id love time to stand still right now because my son is getting too close to that horrible time when he may fly the nest (he is 15 but university is only 3 years away) i do everything i do now to spend as much time as i can with him as he is my absolute number 1..so yeah,,,a time freezing machine for me please Billy Jam .
Avatar 3:22pm Cecile:

Bronwyn, I didn't listen when people told me that when I was 21, but you really are still young.

And a wise old DJ bud told me, "the era you are in is the era you're in."
Avatar 3:23pm Billy Jam:

@ Loop -yeah right? - like summers rush by if u don't stop and embrace em…..we just passed the halfway mark in this show's summer series…..TIME……I love ya but u pass so fast…TIME
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Thanks Cecile. I feel old because us women are generally told we're at our most attractive when we're 17-19. I still felt like a child then. And in a lot of ways I'm glad I'm around now and not then, because back in my beloved 60s I probably would have ended up a housewife. I still romanticize them, though.
  3:24pm Benny in BK:

I sure value more time now than when I was a kid.....I value life so much I sleep less....will do that when I'm dead LOL
Avatar 3:26pm Cecile:

Disabuse yourself of that notion. remember the old line :pretty is as pretty does. It's corny but true.
  3:26pm spodiodi:

Good advice for anyone, Chris (your last line of your last comment)
Avatar 3:26pm Cecile:

I felt old at 21 because in a lot of ways I was precocious. Then suddenly I wasn't.
Avatar 3:26pm Cecile:

ITA spodiodi
  3:27pm loop skywalker:

Yeah i heard the 60s were dope...the music from that era certainly is Bronwyn.also my mum (also named Bronwyn) produced the legendary Loop Skywalker :)
Avatar 3:28pm Studio B Ben:

HERE WE GO! My ears are ready for some Billy Jam!
Avatar 3:30pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Thanks Cecile :) Wow Loop there aren't too many Bronwyns out there! Is she Welsh by any chance? Tell her another Bronwyn says hi :D
Avatar 3:33pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 3:33pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Interesting sample...chipmunk Freddie...
  3:34pm loop skywalker:

No,not welsh Bronwyn...but definitly a rare name outside of wales.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Yeah no one around here ever knows how to pronounce it. It's really popular in Australia though. Fun fact: I have the same first AND last name as the Australian speaker of the house and thus I always get tweets from angry Australians.
Avatar 3:37pm Cecile:

When I was down there, I knew three Antheas.
Avatar 3:37pm Cheri Pi:

Is that her name? It's nice hearing her calm, steady voice in between songs on the Spin concert LPs.
Avatar 3:38pm steve:

Bronwyn - i'd like to report from the future that, if you're super motivated and do what you want with your life, you never get old. (pretty happy guy in his 30s who teaches kids your age)
Avatar 3:40pm Cecile:

it might be. it's her or another person whose name I don't remember
  3:40pm P-90:

Yo Billy Jam and all, still getting used to this new time for this show. Coincidence:(or not) i've been thinking about time a lot lately and how it passes in our lives. So this show is right "on time" for me personally.
Avatar 3:40pm Cecile:

I'm 54 and going back to school.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Thanks Steve. That's nice to hear :)
Avatar 3:41pm Billy Jam:

If I could go back in time I'd go back to a month before each major power move by Mark Zuckerberg and I would create "BassBook" - a free (really free and non intrusive) social media network for BASS heads……and hip-hop fans
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Good luck Cecile, that's awesome!!!
Avatar 3:42pm Cecile:

I'd be in on the ground floor, billy!

Avatar 3:42pm Billy Jam:

someone recently (I think at WFMU - maybe Irene Trudel) was telling me about how she saw Patti Smith at a speaking event and someone asked her if she could change anything in her life what would it be - expecting it to be something about her creative output…But she said - and it is good advice - the most important thing is to take care of your teeth
  3:43pm loop skywalker:

what are you going to Study Cecile?
Avatar 3:44pm Cecile:

graphic design
Billy, I have to say that's good advice. I have good solid teeth, but had one root canal. I can't imagine people who have multiple ones, and gingivitis and other stuff...and it costs a fortune!

if i could change something in my life it would be not waste time worrying over silly shit that didnt matter or never happened.....being too cautious and over thinking every single step and (sometimes) ignoring my gut feelings on decisions in life
Avatar 👻 3:48pm ADA:

I'm back! I've been listening from my phone on 3G on my walk to get the best damn tacos ever. sounds good! checking in here, heavy topic... time moves faster now. I wish I had more time with my sister who left our physical realm in 2008 at the tender age of 13. I feel her presence more than ever though, but to have more time with her - I wish I did, to show her more about music especially.

@ Chris - me too……its funny listening to certain era records now - like big rock records - and you hear how incredibly well they are produced ----- I like it but I also like rough rugged and raw recordings that leave in the mistakes in the studio - ones that in time become non-mistakes and part of a unique piece of art

Avatar 5:14pm Billy Jam:

great mix ADA - thanks for creating this for WFMU - we appreciate it mane~ >>>>>
So the plan for tonight is that I record the set at Elbo Room by The Genie (the "scratch guitar" pioneer that was live performance guest on this show before) - maybe some other acts sets too…..And upcoming next week - with curation assistance from SF emcee/activist Dregs One am planning a live cypher session with (tentatively) Telli Prego, Richie Cunning, and Lightbulb along with Dregs plus (maybe) his buddy DJ Yelir from Children of the Funk laying down some wicked beats down. In this scenario I would record (that way I can edit out curses before airplay) - only six weeks left in this 3 hour series
  5:17pm Dave in Pinole:

ADA -do u dj at clubs in the bay area?

Time keeps going slower the older I get, because I keep getting better at savoring what isn't coming back, and ignoring the bad. So I guess I value time more, but in a different way, it's no longer a resource, just opportunities. If I could time travel, I'd go to the future, because the one thing I'd like to witness is equality (especially gender equality). We've made progress, but we're still so far I'm not going to see that day without a time machine
