ANT MAN movie. Just what I could do with today.
Oh Jonathan, I feel ya on the sleep deprived cognitive business. In fact I'm on your wavelength on lots of the modern bullshit we're having to deal with these days. We have always railed against The Man but, man, it seems it's so much more fucked up now. The thing that gets new is how so blatant and open it is, like there's really nothing wrong with the way things are. In fact aren't they great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50am
Stanley:

Hi Stormy Islay Steve. Nice to see you there. I'm all tucked up warm and cosy in Edinburgh. Love the ol' Hebrides but the weather!

That's weird, the station signed me out.

Anyway, I was about to post this:
I guess I'm a pretty big Buffalo Springfield fan, because I was aware of Bruce Palmer and his solo record. Very talented guy.
  4:13am
JoeRay:

Sony CD players allow you to program with no clicks between tracks. We (wriu)have Newmark CD players which really suck! One of the best sounding CD players is the Sony Playstation PS 1.
  4:15am
JakeGould:

Okay. Outta here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27am

Amazing. Ferlinghetti is still with us. 96!
Avatar 4:27am
Jherweg:

yes indeed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32am
pacific standard simon:

Every so often I try to tally the Beats, and Beat-associated writers, who are still alive. Right now, aside from Lawrence Ferlinghetti, all I can think of are Gary Snyder and Michael McClure.
Avatar 4:33am
Jherweg:

Fuck this cd player keeps fuckking up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36am
pacific standard simon:

I kept expecting someone to start singing "Istanbul, Not Constantinople" to that loop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42am
pacific standard simon:

I guess Ken Nordine (95) counts as "Beat-associated", sort of.
Avatar 4:44am
Jherweg:

He's more of a beat than Rod Mckuen I guess
  4:45am
kimster:

Thank you for keeping me awake on my drive home!!!
  4:46am
kimster:

Fantastic show even if the cd keeps fucking up!
Avatar 4:47am
Jherweg:

Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49am
pacific standard simon:

Ken Nordine reminds me of a cleaned-up, non-drug-using version of William Burroughs. With a totally different voice of course. But the similarity is definitely there.
Avatar 4:55am
Jherweg:

I feel like Ken Nordine is much closer to Kerouac to my ears.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02am
pacific standard simon:

There's that, too. The fascination with the relation of the mundane to the cosmic. I guess I was thinking of the tape experimentation, and the habit of inventing fantasy scenarios.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03am
pacific standard simon:

kimster drove off the road into a ditch with that last track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06am
pacific standard simon:

Yes, they were. And got busted for it. City Lights is in North Beach, though. Been there many times. It was originally the first all-paperback bookstore, when paperbacks were relatively new and confined to rotating racks in drug stores.
  5:08am
kimster:

Lol !!! Lmao!!! I was thinking that last track was gonna put me to sleep!!!! I made it home safe and sound before that last one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12am
pacific standard simon:

I got my FMU DJ premiums in the mail the other day, so I had that to keep me pumped-up at work this evening. Now I'm trying to wind down.
