Hello! Sorry to hear about your cat Therese. I'm sure she had a good life.

Therese, my heart goes out to you. I am a major animal lover, and was devastated by the loss of an 18-year old cat and then a nine-year old cat, both through real ugly cancers. Had to put them both down. So painful. More affecting than the deaths of many humans because we spend way more time with our pets - even sleeping with them - than even family and boy/girlfriends. I hug you through the radio.

Bob in DC and/or Virginia:

I'm so sorry, Therese. My family lost our cat last year -- he just went downhill in a hurry for reasons the vets never pinpointed. These furry little creatures bring such an amazing spirit into our lives, and they leave such a hole when they pass on.

Thank you all for the nice words! She had nothing but love for everyone who came into my home and I was so lucky to have her for as long as I did.

I dropped off my son at weekend camp Friday afternoon. They had a calico sitting out front. It was fun to pet him for a little while in the warm sunshine before departing.

Sorry for your loss, Therese. Your cat reminds me of this dog that used to be at Community Bookstore in Park Slope before they changed owners. Big, old black labrador. Would come up to you when you were browsing for books and nudge you for a pat on the head. Once you did that, the second you stopped she would the put her paw on you like Bill Clinton doing that “I feel your pain…” move… It would never end. Also, sometimes that dog would lead the other bookstore pets on a trip to the liquor store next door. Anyway, your cat and your memory of the refrigerator… Beautiful… Good thoughts…
