The EVER-brilliant Mr. Newman!
Avatar 4:55pm Sean B.:

@RevRab There's times when I am completely convinced the FATS was the greatest. Period. No flash,No gimmicks just FATS.
Avatar 4:56pm BEAVO:

I'd like to hear Fats do 2nd Cousin
  4:57pm P-90:

@ Sean B.: Well put! Fats: criminally underrated as an influence on tons of later artists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- maybe even a case Rock'n'Roll was born in N'Orleans - not Memphis...well, not one place I guess...
  5:00pm P-90:

Little Richard a creature of New Orleans , too.
Avatar 5:02pm Sean B.:

@P-90 How old is Fats?; I would put 1000 bucks they could walk him onstage ANYTIME and he would still sound like he was 20 years old. There's not a hell of alot of rock and roll artists that could do it..i dunno.
Avatar 5:06pm BEAVO:

It's New Orluns not Orleeeens
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

When Katrina happened, Fats was unaccounted for @ 1st & presumed lost - & then found OK - & afterwords played benefits for the City & such: supremely excellent...
Avatar 5:08pm Sissophonic Cheryl:

Great show, TOPT!
  5:09pm P-90:

I assumed for many years that Fats was gone! Because he went back so far and laid so low for so many years. I'm not up on the details, but I recall there was a "scare" for some period of days (weeks?) after Katrina hit because Fats was not accounted for. But yes: an under-recognized inspiration for a LOT that came after, if not on specific musical points, definitely on that Genuine-ness, that authenticity that you referred to, @Sean.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm Matt F:

What Cheryl said!
Avatar 5:09pm Sean B.:

@RevRab they pulled him out of the water brother. He was convinced if his home was gone so would be him...
  5:11pm P-90:

OK, there you go, per usual @RRN63 has the details...before my post even went up...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah! Thx ToPT & Roy Loney !

I like the Dead said for their 1st album (& studio experience) they went to L.A. (plastic, man!) - & took speed & were rushed & didn't like it...but I do !...
  5:13pm P-90:

Was that true that he was gonna "go down with his ship"?
Avatar 5:14pm Sean B.:

Tip of that to Fiveash.
@P-90 Yes the authorities had to beg him to get in the boat.
Avatar 5:14pm Ambassador Feelgood:

I'm enjoying this show immensely. Thank you Todd and Brother Roy!
Avatar 5:19pm Sean B.:

Katrina was horrible and Sandy...shit...I hate to even think about that shit. I had 'FMU in my left ear the whole time....
  5:27pm Guy Walker:

So did Sly Stewart write She's My Baby?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- a lot is on the 'This is the Song We Sing' box of S.F. stuff; the expression is 'box', but it's more a beautiful 'yearbook-style' book package...
  5:28pm Guy Walker:

I know Dr. Feelgood covered it, anyone else record it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 5:38pm BEAVO:

Moby Grape were the best SF band of that era.
  5:39pm Guy Walker:

Mojo's She's My Baby is a fuzzed out of the Steve Alaimo orig.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Groovies' '1st Plane Home' would fit w/ that...
Avatar 5:40pm BEAVO:

and Quicksilver
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Bob Slee:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

  5:55pm zbzbzzz:
