Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm common:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Caryn:

Sheesh, that should be just svensk, without the a. Cash gets me too excited to do proper grammar.

webhen for the win!
Avatar 3:50pm Pwal:

mountain modal set,
please continue and continue and continue
Avatar 3:54pm Pwal:

Je Suis Fou de Dalí, merci Webmaster Henry!
  3:56pm P-90:

Kudos, Webhamster. I'm not surprised he did spoken word, especially not surprised he accepted sponsorship from a bank to release cross-promotional interviews on LP. And I knew he co-"wrote" "operas" and stuff. I was hoping for some singing, but I guess we'd all have heard it if he had...
Avatar 3:58pm Pwal:

Webhamster, merci.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Webhamster Henry:

Thank the obscure audio magpie and former WFMU DJ Kenny G! Dali, especially as he grew older, was happy to commercialize himself as much as possible, sometimes to the detriment of his reputation.
  4:04pm P-90:

Kudos to Kenny G. as well. Yeah, Dali preceded Warhol in the shamelessly self-promoting Modern artist-as-pop-star game.
Avatar 4:04pm Pwal:

well that commercial detriment afforded me the finances to retain a damn good attorney in exchange for a small signed Dali watercolor of dubious origin. Merci Dali.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Carmichael:

Hiya Kurt and listnahs. Working through the paper work on a Friday afternoon.
Avatar 4:21pm Sem Chumbo:

Took the words right out my mouth, Don.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Philthy woman:

Sabi sabi
  4:26pm sue:

i have this song! i think i might be able to find the name
  4:27pm ted:

Avatar 4:27pm Kurt Gottschalk:

that would be great! i saw them live and loved it and contributed to their indiegogo campaign but when i got the cdr there was little info and i haven't been able to find it online.
  4:28pm sue:

ya rayah - by cheb khalid
  4:29pm sue:

that is the version i have.
  4:31pm ted:

also, El Hachemi Guerouabi did that song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Webhamster Henry:

I was wondering when DVA would show up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm northguineahills:

My brother took me down for his wedding, and so I could take a three week break from everything. Avoided the internet the whole, and just got back. I was going through WFMU w/drawal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Webhamster Henry:

That can be your next contest: cover Revolution #9.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm common:

this is so good kurt! all of this! thanky!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Revolution 9 was my favorite Beatles song when I was two. I feel that this foreshadows my later WFMU fandom.

Also I would leave for half an hour and miss both Eugene Chandbourne and Beefheart, wouldn't I? Sigh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Caryn:

I don't know if you're very self-conscious when dumpster diving. But you are much more conscious about whether there are other people around you.
Avatar 4:46pm Sem Chumbo:

Good thing I went to that class, Kurt. Now I totally get this masterpiece.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm Bronwyn Bishop:

This song always brings back flashbacks to the crazy high school station I used to listen to when I was in elementary school. The kids used to play this three times in a row sometimes. They also used to fight on-air. Come to think of it that probably also foreshadowed my WFMU fandom ;)
  4:47pm #4:

actually did this at karaoke AND sent it out to Ken.....
It's like a plague.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Philthy woman:

I am seeing the vdo right now- whooo! thnx Common for turning me on to that artifact I missed in the 80's
  4:48pm #4:

gonna bring a fan next time....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Caryn:

It really is a good song, though. Of course the video is the perfect example of the common problem with a lot of 80s music videos: let's just chuck every single bit of imagery we can think of into the video until nothing has anything to do with anything else.
Avatar 4:52pm Jeff:

I liked the obsessive songwriting analysis video.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Webhamster Henry:

I put My Pal Foot Foot into the infinite process... umm.. I don't think it's done yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Caryn:

The song analysis got a lot of clicky-stars. This is the WFMU listenership you're talking about, after all.
  4:54pm JakeGould:

There are no problems with 1980s videos.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm rsj:

Al Gusto? That's my cat's name!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Caryn:

@Jake: don't get me wrong, I love them. Many of them are complete mishmashes, but entertaining ones. Mishmashes, nonetheless.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm rsj:

actually just Gusto
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Webhamster Henry:

I thought that was a bowed glock on Dumpster Diving - and it was!
  5:03pm Hel:

I didn't go dumpster diving but i did lie to the fruit stand guy who tried to pick me up. Told him that I live with a doberman pinscher. Loved the Johnny Cash but the Eclipse made me queazy Maybe if i play Carcass or old Slayer I'll feel better
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Webhamster Henry:

ha, webmast hen, the next song challenge could be "don't get sued by yoko"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Webhamster Henry:

Or "Remix He's So Fine"
  5:10pm Brendan:

This sounds like an awesome Charlie Daniels fiddle solo , like when the strings made an evil hiss
Avatar 5:12pm Kurt Gottschalk:

uh oh, i have this on really loud and it stopped feeling loud.
  5:13pm P-90:

feels just right at any volume
Avatar 5:13pm TDK60:

Time for an ear checkup, Kurt. Somehow this reminds of telegraph but obviously more modern.
  5:16pm Brendan:

Try adjusting the main spurving bearing just to the left of the six manestically spaced grommets on the lunar wane shaft. That should make it louder.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Philthy woman:

Whatcha wanna make 1st Cheri Pi?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm common:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Philthy woman:

The rhythm of the bongos . I cant control myself any longer
  5:43pm P-90:

-Had a tragic accident, onstage, that cut his career and his life short. A real shame, get sad every time I think about it, to this day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Carmichael:

Yes, I've also lost all self-control.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah, kept him away from his Stratocaster. Raised in a spirit religion tradition - just the man.
Avatar 5:53pm Fredericks:

Is this the "LOVE Boat" theme song?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

wiki say was:
Ron Carter - bass
Elvin Jones - drums
  5:58pm Brendan:

Interesting about Curtis. Apparently rumors of his bongo player losing an arm and going on to play some of his best work including a stint with Def Lep were unfounded.
  5:59pm Brendan:

Gracias Kurt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- Thx KG
