Some pop, fumbling musicians, bedroom recordings, vocal harmonies with orchestras, elongated notes, tape hiss, one-chord wonders, analog synths + clicking drum machines, loners, breezy country, and brief cacophonous interruptions.

Amazing track 'America Lost...' - to go w/ seeing the trailer for 'Don't Think I've Forgotten' about Cambodia: looks like an amazing kick in the guts...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am coelacanth:

i think Eno's got vertigo.
Avatar 10:23am Claw!:

I have been gradually taking things over to the new place. Gonna take some more this weekend and I'm getting a U-Haul on Tuesday to finish everything up. I NEED for this to be over.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am coelacanth:

this song definitely made it onto a mix tape.
  10:25am frenchee:

exquisite Eno!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am coelacanth:

okay Bear!,soon then... moving can really suck,i know.
one year (long ago) i moved 5 times. i had about 1000 lps at that time.THAT sucked!
Avatar 10:30am Rev. Turnip Druid:

th'Druids are moving next month. LPs always the last to go in boxes, first to come out. Might pack an emergency dose in a backpack for rapid retrieval.
Avatar 10:32am Claw!:

Five times in a year?? Gross!
Yeah, I already took half my records - planning to take the other half on Saturday. I'll give my Tuesday moving buddies a break from that since they helped me move em the first two times.
  10:32am frenchee:

ugh, I'm moving too. Less than 1,000 LPs but a lot of books. Yes, the stereo is first to be unearthed (and tuned to WFMU, cuz we're auld skool like that).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am coelacanth:

'good idea,Rev.. Just keep your eye on it. i put my favorite books in one box and it was that box that disappeared.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am Matt from Springfield:

Bill Zurat!

Unfortunately I can't listen in now, but I'll totally hit this Archive ASAP! Love your shows!
Avatar 10:34am d¢ pät:

Happy to report that I haven't moved in 16 years..
  10:35am Mark:

Drakkar the musical artist--not to be confused with the favored scent of 80s lounge lizards.
Avatar 10:37am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- cause this is lovely.
  10:39am JakeGould:

People of Earth, good morning.
Avatar 10:40am d¢ pät:

This Drakkar is my new favorite group. Must find out more.
Avatar 10:40am pierre:

that's a good good show
Avatar 10:42am Rev. Turnip Druid:

no idea what the collection numbers anymore. At its peak (before the Great Purge of 1993) it was about 5000. Probably up to 1300 now. Seems like ELEVENTY BILLIONS when huffing 'em into a truck.
  10:42am Mark:

I'm digging this mellow Thursday am vibe. That sounds like faint praise, but far from it. Robert Lester Holmes is really hitting the spot. I'm bugged that I can't figure out who his voice reminds me of, though. I'm sure it'll come to me about 11:15 tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am SeanG:

I moved from Boston to Seattle and sent 12 boxes of books through the mail. When I got to Seattle I changed my mind and as the boxes arrived I shipped them back to Boston. I look at it now as Performance Art.
  10:45am Mark:

@ Rev. Turnip, Someday, all music ever recorded will reside in the cloud, and, with a touch of a button, we'll be able to summon it directly into our heads. The sound reverberating inside our skulls will make the perfect speaker system.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53am Brian in UK:

Wurlitzer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am Mike East:

We just moved, too, and yes - radio comes first.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am coelacanth:

Rev., you meant 13,000 right?(since you said"up to")...That sounds like heaven and hell all rolled into one!
i don't know what i've got either, though i WAS good about cataloging them. i guess around 3000. i intend to part with at least 1/3 of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am Mike East:

...and good morning
Avatar 10:56am Rev. Turnip Druid:

neh, coelacanth: like "back up to" 1300. I did a massive purge in the early 1990s, when I could get "the weird stuff" on these newfangled CDs. Definitely over that delusion now, and trying to get back to former vinyl glory..
Avatar 11:00am Claw!:

Wow, this is surprisingly good for the Stones. Good for them.
Avatar 11:02am the Canterbury wood-elf:

i never would have guessed this to be the Stones! i wonder what combination of drugs they were on at this point in '68...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am coelacanth:

Rev.,that's still a lot. if i end up with just the ones i truly cherish it may be around 1500. i haven't moved in 10 years, but i know i will. fortunately i store most of them in someone else's house.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am coelacanth:

that sound sounded kinda like "the wait", by..?
Avatar 11:15am Cheri Pi:

this makes my brain feel minty
Avatar 11:17am βrian:

Now all you need is some chocolate chips.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Stevel:

Minty brain!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am coelacanth:

SeanG -"performance art"! i like it!..maybe i can look at my father's insane buying and reselling at a huge loss of things (like boats) as performance art.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am common:

great stuff!
  11:22am P-90:

That stones rehearsal was fascinating. Playing with something new (for them): slide and steel guitars.
  11:24am Mark:

Bill, really enjoying your show today. You're one of the smoothest fill-ins I've heard. Great taste in music and you put together groovy sets, too. Respect.
Avatar 11:26am d¢ pät:

Man, haven't heard this SY in about 15 years! Too long!
  11:28am rw:

Ah, youth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am Carmichael:

Good morning FMUers. It's workin' time in California.
Avatar 11:31am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...indeed.
Avatar 11:32am d¢ pät:

I usually just listen to Bad Moon which kills everything. But this is great too.
Avatar 11:42am Chris from DC:

Backward guitar, always a good thing.
Avatar 11:48am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- gem of a set.
Avatar 11:53am Sem Chumbo:

Enjoyed the Bill Z(igg)urat Tower of Tunes this morning in the same way as Mark^^^. I'll keep an ear out for your next fill-in. Thanks.
  11:55am dennis diken:

nice show Joe!
  11:55am Mark:

"Helen Is A Hologram" sounds like when a robot comes home from a hard day of work, fixes himself a drink of sulfuric acid, kicks back in his barcalounger--he'd listen to this type of tune-age on the hi-fi.
Avatar 11:57am d¢ pät:

..or he's sitting at the kitchen table sitting next to an empty bottle of sulfuric acid and Helen is asleep in the other room. He just keeps saying "Helen is a hologram. Helen is a hologram.."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am coelacanth:

Bill -what i meant before was it's been TOO long!
Thank you.
later on mammals.
  11:57am Hel:

A daymare of a playlist!
Avatar 11:58am Claw!:

What a set! Thanks Bill - it's been a pleasure.

Later, Fish!
