Avatar 1:22pm Cecile:

I can't even lift a damn cinderblock IRL.
  1:23pm rw:

Good answer I thought.
Avatar 1:24pm Cecile:

Hey, even Diane answered it...
  1:24pm Dean:

"At which of the big four metal bands would you like to strew rose petals?"
Avatar 1:31pm Cecile:

yay Neurosis.
Avatar 1:33pm Claw!:

OMG, outta the blue, but BRILLIANT -
For any fellow record store grunts - this is for you:
I was in tears reading this. Too real. My shop is getting a notebook immediately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm common:

good stuff, claw! ah, retail.
Avatar 1:38pm V Priceless:

I did the note book thing with my old office job - got enough bossman quotes to write an off-off-off Broadway musical.
Avatar 1:38pm Cecile:

I read it yesterday. It brought back so many memories, good and bad.
Avatar 1:40pm Claw!:

Avatar 1:40pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Luna:

  1:41pm Dean:

The one about CDs for turntables: there are CD turntables, e.g., Rega Saturn.

I have two vivid record store job memories: 1) guy roams around the store all afternoon, approaches counter, reports, "I just looked at every record in your store," departs; 2) the slightly elderly, totally fun father of a friend of mine drops by store, spies Alternative TV's "Vibing Up the Senile Man," brings it to the counter and says to my co-clerk, "I'll take a dozen of these."
Avatar 1:41pm Claw!:

I'm still laughing from reading that. The comments section from that article is hilarious, too. BATLORD!!!
Avatar 1:48pm Cecile:

Croce always sounded like he was never going to grow old.
Avatar 1:48pm Cecile:

I mean, never make it to growing old.
Avatar 1:48pm Cheri Pi:

Jim Croce was my mom's child abuse LP.
  1:49pm Dean:

"Jim Croce was my mom's child abuse LP." Now there's a sentence you don't read every day.
Avatar 1:50pm Cheri Pi:

Since he's toured with Metallica and Slayer the block had better be foam, or marshmallow.
Avatar 1:52pm Cheri Pi:

She tortured us with that album day in and day out, the 70's were a painful time. I was forced to retreat to my kiddie turntable and play the only 45 I had at the time (Bay City Rollers) to get the taste of Croce outta my mind.
Avatar 1:53pm Cecile:

Deftones were supposed to open for Metallica 1 time at the Metrodome, but Chino had seriously injured his cojones region the day before so we had an extra 20 minutes of Limp BIzkit.
Avatar 1:54pm V Priceless:

Avatar 1:55pm Cecile:

what was that weird metal band that used to paint themselves different colors and make up like monsters, and were not Mushroomhead, Slipknot or Gwar? They opened that day, but got rid of their makeup and their crazed sound so they kind of were lame.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Polyus:

I just came back in. . .what are robot vocals?
Avatar 1:56pm Cecile:

Avatar 1:56pm Cecile:

Big Hero Six actually used "eye of the tiger" to hilarious effect.
Avatar 1:56pm MenfussMike:

Cecile: Lordi?
Avatar 1:57pm Cecile:

nope, late 90s band. I think they were from the Midwest. Illinois or Ohio.
Avatar 1:58pm V Priceless:

has he seen "Whiplash"?
Avatar 1:59pm Cecile:

Mudvayne!!! That's who it was.
Avatar 2:01pm Cecile:

I watched Big Hero Six.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm common:

coal miner's daughter is so good!
Avatar 2:02pm Cecile:

It looks like mudvayne went back to their makeup. Good for them.
  2:03pm coe:

'ello folks
Sorry can't stick around. What was the name of the movie that he mentioned about the painting?
Avatar 2:03pm Claw!:

Mudvayne? Coal Chamber?
Avatar 2:04pm Claw!:

Ah. I see you've already solved the Mudvayne Mystery. Disregard.
Avatar 2:04pm Cecile:

It was Mudvayne.
  2:04pm hot bar:

Tim's Vermeer! I highly recommend it as well. Definitely had some impact on my understanding of art.
Avatar 2:07pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 2:11pm Cecile:

  2:12pm Mark:

Haven't heard this wicked Crimson in a long time. Forgot how totally badass they were.
Avatar 2:12pm V Priceless:

Avatar 2:12pm Cecile:

that Discipline album is brutal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Polyus:

Not often I hear people rep for this era.
Avatar 2:13pm Cecile:

Avatar 2:13pm Cecile:

Polyus, after Discipline, I tend to like the Adrian Belew solo albums way better.
Avatar 2:15pm Michael:

The latest KC tour in the fall was outstanding.
Avatar 2:15pm Cecile:

  2:16pm phat:

Holy balls! What a great mix from Eria Tarka to Frame by Frame.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Luna:

Avatar 2:21pm Cecile:

Mr. wonder!
  2:21pm sweir:

Awesome set! Thank you Diane and Brann.
  2:22pm phat:

This sounds a bit like a set of music I may have played myself.
Avatar 2:22pm PKNY:

Stevie=GOAT. I usually don't enjoy the experience or cost of arena shows, but I threw down loot to catch him do "Songs in Key of Life" in April.
Avatar 2:22pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Holy crap! Too busy to listen... is this show available in pill form?
Avatar 2:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

or...... alternately, gelcap?
Avatar 2:23pm Diane Kamikaze:

Gelcap is the way to go Rev!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm common:

I, too, must go do my stupid jobby. gelcap!
Avatar 2:23pm Cheri Pi:

My dad rode the train once in Michigan with Little Stevie Wonder.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Polyus:

The powder is a bit chalky for my liking.
  2:25pm phat:

This show... my oh my.
Avatar 2:25pm Cecile:

I prefer a patch.
Avatar 2:26pm Cheri Pi:

I'll take it in my i.v. drip.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm chris:

Avatar 2:42pm Cecile:

hahahha. Well, gotta go to a meeting. Have a great day commenters, Diane and guest!
  2:42pm Dave in Chicago:

I don't think I've been on the comment board in like 3 or 4 years, but this interview is mind blowing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm chris:

Bye, Cecile. Welcome back, Dave.
  2:48pm Dave in Chicago:

Thank you, thank you very much...
  2:48pm Dean:

I love the video of thrash drumming featuring Bert and Ernie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm northguineahills:

The first time I saw Blonde Redhead, it was 1998, at a club w/ maybe 40 people. Back then, I was a snob who only listened to noise, etc. That show converted me to see how awesome rock could be w/in a rock context (and other contexts) when done well. I told Amadeo afterwards, "You guys are the first pop-rock band I've been amazed w/, thanks". I've been in love w/ Blonde Redhead ever since.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm northguineahills:

Now, look at my music tastes....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm common:

I was a dj in the 90s and played blonde redhead's 10 feet high almost every set. still love it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm dale:

Avatar 2:55pm extinct_species:
