Nazario Scenario time! I'm as happy as a pig in a ... washbin? Bidet? Porcine hygiene vessel?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Amanda:

Hi Listener James! I believe that is indeed a bidet, which strikes me as a proper place to bathe one's tiny pig.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Amanda:

Can yiz hear my string music yet?
  12:00pm P-90:

Greetings, DJ Amanda and all the Nazarinii
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Doug Schulkind:

Hear hear, here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm doctorjazz:

Hi all!
  12:01pm P-90:

A clean piglet is a happy piglet!
Stream loud and clear since the very top of the hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Polyus:

Oh fer cute, would you look at that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Amanda:

Welcome, welcome to one and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm listener james from westwood:

So I have WFMU, a wee pig, and the chance to pet a dog I met while getting my mail just before showtime. Wednesdaying like a boss!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Carmichael:

My favorite Australian band! Hi Amanda and listeners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Uncle Michael:

This reminds me of their "Hearts In Her Eyes" cover. I like it!
  12:09pm jeff g.:

oooh oooh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Uncle Michael:

Records connective tissue!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Carmichael:

Aaah, the Records. You're hitting all my memory banks this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Amanda:

Was "Hearts in Her Eyes" a cover? I always thought the Searchers did it first, though I know the Records covered it decades later.
Avatar 12:12pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Pooh was starting to drop hints...squeaking clean tiny pigs prefer perfect PowerPop...probably...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Amanda:

Porcine preference for power pop, precisely.
  12:18pm P-90:

That HUGE voice
  12:18pm jeff g.:

Amanda has forgotten more about power pop than I'll ever know.
Avatar 12:18pm Slater:

that HUGE cowbell
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Amanda:

No, Jeff, your power pop game is on point!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Amanda:

Hah, I had always missed that muttered Portobello Road comment by Michael Flanders...
  12:23pm jeff g.:

you're kind, Amanda, but the proof is in the playlist. you are my mentor, and I, your manatee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm listener james from westwood:

"antepenultimate" = <3 <3 <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm listener james from westwood:

@jeff g: May we all aspire to one day be the Mento.
Avatar 12:32pm glenn:

oh, look. a piggy in a french extra toilet.
Avatar 12:33pm ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
  12:40pm ?:

Never understood WHY someone would do a cover that's note-for-note faithful to the original version. Just let Randy have it his way.
Avatar 12:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...propitiously propelled upon peagreen platter
- white lightning & wine are fine for this swine
...when @ noon we spoke of bacon
- our diminutive friend knew we was fakin'
...& despite Flanders' threats - he knew sooner yet - we'd be kind more like Simpsons' neighbor
...i wished him good bidet - as I went on my way
- a hack & a ham - I'll stop here as personal favor...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Amanda:

Anonymous commenter: maybe these two covers are more up your alley?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Uncle Michael:

Amanda, I'm afraid you flipped your attribution. The Records wrote Hearts In Her Eyes for the Searchers, which might be why you heard the Searchers version first.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Amanda:

My God, UM, you are right! Mind blown. I always thought that was a 60s song of theirs that the Records recorded much later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Uncle Michael:

I didn't know that Donovan sings on Billion Dollar Babies till I got it horribly wrong, on mic last week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Doug Schulkind:

It's the Amanda Erroneous drinking game! Everyone snarf another shot of tequila!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar 1:05pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Donovan on 'BillionDollarBabies' ?! That is the kewlest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Uncle Michael:

I always thought the duet vocal was Michael Bruce faking an accent. It's not.
Avatar 1:09pm ndbob:

interesting version of "I See the Light " there
Avatar 1:15pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...going to Nuggets box booklet instead of interwebz...
- know the Five Americans version of 'Light' - who were Dallas-based, the 5's was '65, produced by Dale Hawkins...
  1:18pm P-90:

Cool interview with Donovan about how that came about, his interest in Alice's band's guitar style, and learning the importance of mastering falsetto harmony singing from Chris Squire, at the Ultimate Classic Rock site: ultimateclassicrock.com/donovan-alice-cooper
Avatar 1:18pm ndbob:

right Rev - maybe their first 45?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Amanda:

Yep, I am pretty sure the Five Americans did it first.
  1:20pm Ike:

Love that MDID. Hey sorry I missed the meet-up, wasn't feeling too well. Hope to catch the next 1.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm listener james from westwood:

O.M.G. Top five episode.
Avatar 1:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@nd: Nuggets booklet says they had earlier singles that didn't chart - later they had hit w/ 'Western Union'...Cheers P-90!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm listener james from westwood:

(and yes I am saying this having not seen the last 10 years of episodes.)
Avatar 1:26pm ndbob:

ty Rev!
Avatar 1:28pm northguineahills:

I think I just saw this one around xmas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm listener james from westwood:

"Nothing gets chocolate out!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm listener james from westwood:

Few TV heartbreaks are as sad as watching Ralph burn the card while on stage.
Avatar 1:34pm northguineahills:

True, james...

nice segue
  1:35pm P-90:

Def a "pinnacle" episode, a defining episode. I'll have to rewatch it now, it's been a while.
Maybe a nominee for the next Meetup?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm efd:

That sounds like a great way to spend Valentine's Day!
Avatar 1:41pm Kurt Gottschalk:

HAGS! Thanks Amanda!
Avatar 1:45pm northguineahills:

Eugene Chadbourne never disappoints.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Amanda:

Thanks for checking in, Ike! No hard feelings, and hope you can make any future ones.

@Kurt, you're super welcome!

@efd, I plan to make it the best ever...
  1:47pm P-90:

The scheduling of the "Westminster weekend" that always falls near Valentine's Day was either a propitious coincidence or a brilliant marketing tactic...
Avatar 1:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- so - Johnny was covering Bob before The Byrds?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Amanda:

Such a New York tradition, in the most sickening yuppie NYT Style-guide way... but one I can actually support!
  1:50pm P-90:

Avatar 1:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- oh yeah - they was hangin' @ Newport & all...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Amanda:

@RevRab, so says the note on this "repro" - but I realize that's probably the recording date.
Avatar 1:53pm ndbob:

excellent show Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm efd:

btw Amanda, I know this will disappoint you but I will not be doing my show next week so there will be no salute to the WKC Dog Show this year! Feel free to take up that gauntlet in my absence! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Uncle Michael:

Thank you, Amanda.
Avatar 1:54pm jay c:

another awesome show for the books, happy wednesday to all!
Avatar 1:54pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- oh - you guys should do the DawgShow together!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Amanda:

Gosh, Evan! What will we do!?!? I may have to cook something up in your absence, especially since I have your blessing! :-)
Avatar 1:56pm northguineahills:

Thansk Amanda, I already faved that Cash song back on your show in September.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm listener james from westwood:

Closing with a fave of mine. I choo-choo-choose to star it. Happy Valentines' Day, all, and thanks, Amanda!
  1:57pm P-90:

No "tribute"? Aww...
THANKs and Happy V-Day Amanda and Aman-fans!
  1:58pm Sean:

Who's your favorite Travelling Wilbury? Is it Jeff Lynne?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I choo-choo-choose you!
Avatar 1:59pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...☆ed everything...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Uncle Michael:
