Halloo allah you! Jim & I have changed our shoes back; it was nice to sport his Keds for a minute, but these boots are so warm
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Scott Williams:

Lourdes Rebels: clicky-star
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Greg from Bloomfield:

@Polyus: WHOA. I wonder if Morgan Freeman said anything about shoes in Se7en...
Avatar 3:12pm V Priceless:

Morgan's got a footwear reference rider in his contract, seems like.
Avatar 3:14pm Sem Chumbo:

Hiya, Scott, and all.
Avatar 3:16pm Marcel M:

Hey Scott !
  3:18pm Robert:

Barry Farber said an attempt in the USSR to use newsreel footage of picketing at a strike in the USA as pro-communist propaganda backfired when viewers were impressed by how good the shoes the strikers were wearing were.
Avatar 3:21pm Marcel M:

I gotta say when someones shoes are really poppin' I do notice them. But maybe thats because I like shoes. No offence Mr. Freeman..
  3:23pm Mark:

For an album called "Italia Synthetica," she sure sounds French, yes, non?
Avatar 3:23pm cheyenne_h:

  3:24pm Mark:

I would definitely hurl trying to actually dance to the "Commercial Dance Song."
  3:25pm SeanG:

now we dance

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Scott has awesome shoes. They are nothing if not poppin'.
Avatar 3:25pm Claw!:

I know that's not the song playing, but it sees like the right thing to say.
Avatar 3:27pm V Priceless:

i'm a sucker for anything robot-related
Avatar 3:31pm coelacanth:

greetings Scott and people
Avatar 3:36pm Sem Chumbo:

Liking this one...my chiropractor recommended it.
Avatar 3:36pm coelacanth:

what's this about shoes?

i notice a man's shoes as often as a woman's if they're nice boots.
  3:36pm Cramadol:

Wow. Contortions. Woof.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Parq:

That scream after "contort yourself five times" is one of the greatest in rock and roll (loosely defined in this case).
  3:37pm Mark:

Really digging this crazy show so far...

Avatar 3:39pm Polyus:

I bet I haven't heard this song since this album was new, and somehow I recognized it right off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Andrew Waterloo:

Genesis after The Contortions :)
  3:40pm Andy the painter:

oh man. this genesis song.
I remember writing the lyrics to this on a math notebook in high school.
sounds good right now. thanks Scott!
  3:41pm Dean:

Is the "it" of the title a nod to "It" from LLDOB?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Parq:

Andrew, right? Up there with the time Charlie Lewis came out of Alan Sherman into the Selector.
  3:41pm paula pc:

all about abacab, ready to send Scott another cassette or 8-track version after a nice warm summer
  3:41pm ted:

it's 1980!...in a good way
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Holy smokes that song was good.
Avatar 3:42pm V Priceless:

@ Dean: venturing a guess here..no. ; )
Avatar 3:43pm Claw!:

I'm so amused by the ire that Mr. Collins draws...
Avatar 3:44pm Polyus:

He sure played on a bunch of peoples' records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Carmichael:

Heya Scott and all of the shoed. I'm sandbagging until Genesis id over, then I'll listen ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm steve:

Genesis really should only be heard on a heat-mangled earped overplayed tape that's been hidden under the seat of a minivan for 30 years.
Avatar 3:44pm V Priceless:

the Phil ubiquity didn't really quite kick in until "Against All Odds", circa '84 - '85
  3:44pm Dean:

Collins' solo stuff was appallingly bad. But as a drummer and all-around musician on those early Genesis records -- SEBTP, e.g. -- and his work with Brand X, among other groups, he is redeemed.
Avatar 3:44pm Cheri Pi:

isn't it 20 years too soon to be talking about abacab?
  3:45pm SeanG:

wonder why the tune abacab isn't sampled by rappers
Swag For Life Member 3:45pm S from I:

I'm not trying to justify Collins-hate but can anyone defend "sussudio"?
Avatar 3:45pm Roberto:

That warped Abacab tape was a magical moment in radio history.
  3:46pm Nardo:

I like the Duke lp
  3:46pm Dean:

In addition to their LPs up through LLDOB, I have a nice stash of Genesis bootlegs, many vinyl, and I used to collect their Italian 45s and such. I have never heard Abacab.
Avatar 3:46pm glenn:

yeah, Phil Collins is a douche, but he's a great drummer
Avatar 3:47pm V Priceless:

@ S from I: as a card-carrying 'prog' head, no!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm efd:

I don't know how explain this, but the whole time "Keep It Dark" was playing I somehow tricked myself into thinking I was hearing Peter Gabriel's "DIY."
Avatar 3:47pm Dominick:

sorry.... had to
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm efd:

I guess it can be largely explained by the fact that I was concentrating on something else at the time. But still.
Avatar 3:47pm coelacanth:

i got into abacab for about a minute; but wind & wuthering still holds up,for a non-Peter Gabriel genesis album.

and i admire someone who can sing fairly well whilst drumming quite well.
  3:48pm Dean:

Never mind the appearance of Collins' "In the Air" not long after Gabriel released "On the Air."
  3:48pm woj:

commodity fetish! always nice to hear!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Carmichael:

OK, now we're ... uh .... ROCKIN'!
  3:51pm Dean:

There's this pop hit these days called "Sledgehammer" by I don't know whom. My 8YO digs it. I played him the "real" "Sledgehammer," Peter Gabriel's, and he was like, "Meh." But last night I played Gentle Giant's "In a Glass House" LP and my son asked if it was the "Sledgehammer" guy.
Avatar 3:52pm Claw!:

I like gated reverb. That's about the only nice thing I have to say about Phil Collins.
  3:52pm Beano:

Scott you are sooooo smooooov
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Andrew Waterloo:

My kid seems to only like pop, They Might be Giants, the Trashmen, and some shoegaze.
Avatar 3:53pm V Priceless:

Gabriel's 3rd record = no cymbals = nuts, in a good way...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Carmichael:

I've also dug Gentle Giant for a long time. And I started talking to a casual acquaintenance about music, and found out he is a bigger Utopia fan than I am. It's been a weird week.
Avatar 3:54pm Cheri Pi:

Sussudio:I'm thinking of going blonde
Phil Collins: Keep it dark.

what a prick!
Avatar 3:58pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

YAYAYAY, the LSD rekkid.... Love this bit, ten thousand teddybears...
Avatar 3:58pm Claw!:

Yeah, V, the lack of cymbals in that record is pretty striking. "Intruder" is my JAM! Primus did a sweet cover of that song, too. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Scott Williams:

wow.... looks like Phil's still got it, y'all
Avatar 3:59pm Sem Chumbo:

Heavy rotation on this one lately *l*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Andrew Waterloo:

Misc. Debris is a fantastic covers EP
Avatar 4:00pm V Priceless:

@ Claw! Did not know about the Primus cover - will check that out. Great song/record.
Avatar 4:04pm coelacanth:

i saw Gabriel at rutgers university on the first halloween after that album came. he opened with a long intro'd intruder, the whole band hitting drums as they-in elaborate costume- slowly walked from the back of the auditorium to the stage.
That will be with me forever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm rsj:

not this again, making me jones for some tabs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Carmichael:

Man, I'm just recovering from all the LSD I took for Fabio's last show.
Avatar 4:05pm Claw!:

Yeah, Miscellaneous Debris is the record it's off of, as Mr. Waterloo started above.
Good stuff.
Avatar 4:06pm Sem Chumbo:

A model psychosis. But is it this year's model?.
Avatar 4:06pm Claw!:

Whoa, 'canth! I'm already imagining it, and that sounds so rad!
Avatar 4:07pm Sem Chumbo:

Was it possible to cheat on an acid test?
  4:08pm Mark:

Yes, directly from the floor of Scott's grandmother's basement, didn't dust it off or anything, straight to the airwaves...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm Carmichael:

I would listen to this kind of music while on acid.
Avatar 4:09pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

This Baxter piece following the last one brings to mind one solid piece of advice: Self-medicated viewings of Mondo Cane = not advisable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm chris:

OOoo the drama! Hi again, Scott and Boarders!
Avatar 4:13pm V Priceless:

@ 'canth - very cool! I recall him walking from the back of the auditorium during the 'Security' tour @ Stony Brook U, too..

thanx for the link, C!.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Carmichael:

This was Zappa's favorite modern composer.
Avatar 4:14pm coelacanth:

Claw! it was!..one of a few bonding experiences with my sister...another was seeing Toots & the Maytals, also at rutgers, but outside...i was tripping hard, coincidentally, and right in front of Toots, who i thought was suspiciously glaring at me! there were only a few people there & i thought moving farther from the band would be too conspicuous!
...not the best of trips!
Avatar 4:17pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

It definitely out-200-Motels 200 Motels. Clicky.
Avatar 4:17pm Sem Chumbo:

Zappa served as master-of-ceremonies at a Varèse retrospective, longish interview via Downbeat here:wiki.killuglyradio.com...
  4:18pm Mark:

The present-day composer refuses to die!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm rsj:

you'd never guess he's singing about LSD in italian
  4:20pm r i s k y:

Avatar 4:22pm Dominick:

I thought he was singing about a peccary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm common:

thought it had something to do with bacon.
Avatar 4:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

i'm stealing the ROOM.
Avatar 4:24pm coelacanth:

i'm sure he was singing about bacon-filled shoes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Was that a straw in a Big Gulp cup?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Like Ghostbusters meets Lolita meets The Godfather meets Hee-Haw...
Avatar 4:32pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

HA, jeezus, I haven't heard Birdsongs' version of le sacre in ages..
Avatar 4:49pm Claw!:

sloooooow iiiiiiiiiit dooooooooooooowwwwwwn...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Carmichael:

I would skip around like a forest nymph if I listened to this song on acid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Matt from Springfield:

I'm not on acid but I'm imagining myself doing exactly that, Carm!

Hi Scott and friends!
Avatar 4:57pm Sem Chumbo:

Hiya, Matt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Matt from Springfield:

And ruh roh! It seems Scott was playing that mangled Genesis tape again, will have to turn around again for that one!

Hiya Sem! And all others here assembled.
Avatar 4:58pm coelacanth:

howdy Matt!
Avatar 4:58pm Mugsy:

Avatar 4:59pm coelacanth:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Matt from Springfield:

And coelacanth, my favorite once-thought-extinct-but-not-really commenter here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Matt from Springfield:

I read that therapeutic dosing of LSD is finally making a comeback, picking up where Dr. Leary left off. Mostly for PTSD, drug addiction, etc but that may be coming as a viable option.
Avatar 5:00pm coelacanth:

that's like when i tell my only niece she's my favorite niece.

Matt- "mellotronic"!...you may want to backtrack, too. Scott played some ondes martenot in the second set!
Avatar 5:35pm Claw!:

I just saw this Ruth Copeland LP come into the shop a few weeks back... It's expensive!
Does anyone know how she came to be involved with the P-Funk cats?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Matt from Springfield:

@RRN63: Well, obviously you need an eco-friendly bag to touch the bread itself, then you need a handwoven-fair trade alpaca sack to cover that bag, then you need a tote bag from WFMU or another charitable organization, to display your social consciousness cred...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
