Les III LPs
  9:52pm ScottC:

I remember my mom had a bunch of Elvis RCA 10". They always felt strange when holding them- made you feel like a giant...
Avatar 9:54pm Dave Mandl:

@ScottC: Yeah, they're odd when you're used to 12" and 7" records.
  9:58pm Mdurek:

Fantastic first hour for my ride home ! I could have picked that mix myself. thanks Dave

Avatar 9:59pm duke:

Avatar 10:05pm Alec:

  10:06pm HollyT:

Gorgeous. 70 degrees, cloudy/breezy. Nothing beats FL in January/February. The rest of the year...meh.
  10:09pm HollyT:

I actually saw/met the Mary Halvorson Trio last time I was here in Orlando. They played at a venue called the Timucua White House. Amazing show.
Avatar 10:09pm Dave Mandl:

@Holly: Cool.
  10:21pm tr-ish:

I listen for the all the '-ish'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Sei is a kind of whale, so ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm Ike:

Impressed that you said "Silver Spring" because lots of people misread it as "Silver Springs." The grammatical honor of Maryland is NOT besmirched tonight!
Avatar 10:35pm Dave Mandl:

@Ike: Pedantic copy editor. What can I say?
Avatar 10:43pm Mugsy:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...ratio of times Stockhausen mentioned to listened to?...
Avatar 11:12pm Dave Mandl:

@RRN63: Mentioned more than listened to, I guess. At least here in the States.
  11:13pm pacific standard simon:

What is so appealing about Stockhausen? Genius, of course, but I suspect there is also the weight of the works of all the composers who have, ahem, "borrowed" from him.
Avatar 11:15pm Alec:

whats the story on the farnois houle?
Avatar 11:15pm Alec:

francois
Avatar 11:15pm northguineahills:

I only have 4-5 LPs of Stockhausen, and mayb 3 more on MP3, so that limits my options. I still think Kontakt is frickin' amazing.
Avatar 11:15pm Dave Mandl:

@RRN63: Oh, I totally misread your question. But still, I guess he's a little more mentioned than listened to.
  11:15pm pacific standard simon:

... thinking about "commercial" composers ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...that bit (w/ horns) reminded me of 'In a Silent Way' stuff...
Avatar 11:16pm Dave Mandl:

@Alec: It's from 2001. CD. It's a nice set.
Avatar 11:17pm Dave Mandl:

@RRN63: And of course he's on the cover of Sgt. Pepper.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- of course.
Avatar 11:17pm northguineahills:

Wasn't Miles Davis listening Stockhausen's Hymnen when he wrecked his Ferrari?
  11:21pm pacific standard simon:

The Santa Rosa public library was packed with Stockhausen records -- I don't know why. I devoured them all, as a teen geek, and racked up some hefty fines. Can't remember much at this late date, though -- should check it out soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm fleep:

A vanilla call option is the missionary position of call options.
Avatar 11:25pm Dave Mandl:

@northguineahills: Tragic.
