Favoriting December 30, 2014: Nico: Underground

Tonight on Aerial View hear the world premiere broadcast of Tammy Faye Starlite's show Nico: Underground, presented live in WFMU's performance space Monty Hall back on October 17th.

The book of the show is based on the transcript of Nico's last radio interview and other statements she's made over the years. The music comes from the pen of Gordon Lightfoot, Lou Reed, Jackson Browne and - of course - Nico.

I play the part of "Radio Interviewer" and the band consists of Craig Hoek on sax and flute; Dave Dunton on keyboards; Keith Hartel on bass and acoustic guitar; Richard Feridun on guitar and Ray Kubian on drums..

An edited version will be heard over the air: the full, unedited version with obscenity intact and seventeen extra minutes of music will be available as an archive and podcast.

i never knew gordon lightfoot had a dark booze and drugs period brought on by a succubus-like woman. he wrote sundown as kind of an answer to her being a slut

This one's a keeper! [Her characterization is closer than her singing impersonation, which is fine, they're of a (theatrical) piece. & let's hear it for the band.] - Thx !

wish this was on a video stream as it seems we're missing some visual action

Chris T.:

We were close on the videotape but it didn't happen. During "Chelsea Girls", Tammy is chasing the flute player around.

Great job sticking to the interviewing Chris. She sounds like a hard one to wrangle in. The colored kids comments are a little confusing, though.

miss starlight reminds me of phoebe legere in the usage of an adopted personae.

Justinline, this is a scripted show, written by Tammy Faye. Everything you hear coming out of me was written on the page. My only ad-lib was to say "Happy Birthday" at the start and "Danke Schoen" at the end.

Hi, thank you very much for this accessible and informative post, I always appreciate such information. I often study new topics and areas for myself, I like this kind of music, I often look through the archives. I recommend https://studydriver.com/shooting-an-elephant-essay/ this website for your overall development, check out Shooting An Elephant Essays from the story of George Orwell, it is very interesting to study this in your free time, there are also many topics on the resource from which you can easily select the one you need, good luck!
