A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

the title of today's show is the opening line of 'Tired' by langston hughes.

I am so tired of waiting,
Aren't you,
For the world to become good
And beautiful and kind?
Let us take a knife
And cut the world in two-
And see what worms are eating
At the rind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am rsj:

I've not heard so much AC/DC for years as I have in a few month so being a WFMU addict. A shame I missed the Cage/Wyatt and Sister Rosetta, but this will do for now...
Avatar 9:33am Marcel M:

This record used to play NON STOP when I worked at Tower Records. After a while... that voice.... oh gawd...

great poem by langston hughes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am rsj:

it made me happy to see the new ACDC album next to the check out line at C21, getting heavy play on FMU, odd harmony there...
Avatar 9:36am DeemerDave:

Has hell frozen over? Trouble playing "Hell's Bells"? Did not expect that, except maybe if there was a french version.
  9:36am Mark:

I hate AC/DC but somehow this sounded perfect in this set. Good DJs know how to make that shit work.

  10:04am kat330:

Yep, seriously tired of waiting for the world to become good and kind, one compliment at a time...
  10:04am Mark:

I wasn't really familiar with Arthur Russell, either--beautiful voice, and the echoey cello this is happening. Way to throw a little Jobim at us, too! (I assume you're cavorting around the studio to this track.)
  10:05am Mark:

If you want proof that much of the world is good and kind, #i'llwalkwithyou.
Avatar 10:09am Marcel M:

I have to admit when people tell me, "make sure you clean that up!" When I'm planning on cleaning it up, it annoys the hell out of me (dog walker here).
Avatar 10:10am ottovonbqe:

yes, when people presume I'm going to do something wrong before I do it, I definitely will get a little testy.

Avatar 10:11am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

I've been yelled at while in the process of cleaning up after my dog. Made me think WTF? Not sure what else I was supposed to do. I can relate. Maybe this guy didn't have his coffee yet.
  10:11am Kevlicki:

Good morning trouble and wfmu friends!
Avatar 10:12am DeemerDave:

Trouble: I think the "just wanted to make sure" comment was a bit much and definitely an irritating comment. Just a "thank you" would be much friendlier.

I read somewhere that the French are finally beginning to take to the custom of cleaning up after their dogs. Smoke-free restaurants and now this? Brave new world.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am SeanG:

I like when Divine eats dogshit
Avatar 10:18am Trouble:

you know as i hear what you have to say about my comments to dog dude, i realize i didn't want to say: thanks for cleaning up. i wanted to say, hey, what makes you think this is a place for your dog to poop? i guess i was the bitch in that case, and tried to scoot out of it with some lame, o thanks biz. o well
Avatar 10:19am jeff-m:

there is another movie in the extras of the Russel doc that is so great. About an hour I think. Just a guy filming his life (not Russel's) and friends. Blew me away.
Avatar 10:19am Trouble:

and thanks for the good words kat330 and the arthur russel suggestions all!
Avatar 10:20am Berg:

isn't it allowed to let dogs do that anywhere in public areas except where it is explicitely forbidden? As long as you pick up the mess - nevermind the stains..
Avatar 10:21am Berg:

and while I'm at it - thanks Trouble, you're making my end of the afternoon here!
Avatar 10:22am βrian:

@Berg: the operative word is public. It sounds like the lot in question is private property.
Avatar 10:22am Marcel M:

A building that I walk dogs in, is trying to DNA test all the dogs, so they can link them to the poop found outside. Kind of a crazy idea in the middle of Brooklyn. #Firstworldproblems
Avatar 10:24am Berg:

@Marcel I wanted to say "no shit!" but that's probably not appropriate here
Avatar 10:25am Marcel M:

@Berg: Hah! I'd say appropriate AND apt.

Avatar 10:28am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

It's hard to train your dog where and when to poop. My dog seemed to have a knack for doing it in the most embarrassing places. The best was during a Halloween parade for dogs that she was in. She held up the whole parade to just to poop. Lesson learned, don't dress up my dog and force her to walk in a parade with other dogs.
