Nice to see "In the West" has been re-issued. Still the best version of "Red House" ever, IMHO.

I love live Hendrix stage banter too, I edited out the part at the start where he told the crowd to go fuck itself.

Jimi played the song "Sgt. Pepper" two days after the album came out with all the Beatles in the audience and they were amazed that he had learned it so quickly. He never did a concert where he played the whole album. "In the West" was never a bootleg--it was a posthumous release of various live shows. The part you played was from the Isle of Wight Festival, his first show in England in over a year--hence "God Save the Queen," which is indeed the same tune as "My Country 'Tis of Thee," which like so many American things, was an English thing re-purposed. So you got a couple facts wrong, but the important thing is, you're playing a lot of great music. Thank you! (This is actually the first Hendrix I've heard on FMU. I'm sure others have played him, but not while I was listening!)

Oops sorry Mark, I'm light on the facts ha ha h.

Hullo JH ! Pretty sure 'Hendrix in the West' was a 'normal' Reprise (Warner) commercial release - but out of print. The story I know is the weekend/day Sgt. Pepper was released, Hendrix opened w/ just the tune 'Sgt. Pepper' - this YT: www.youtube.com... (I've never heard Jimi performed the whole album) - & Paul was there, & has since said he's considered one of the greatest tributes he's ever received. Clapton was there & Paul says Jimi cheekily asked - after some vibrato (whammy) arm action - which in those days would quickly detune a guitar - if Clapton was there, & would he tune his guitar for him. (He may have done it for him!)...

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- have heard Dan Bodah, Bill Mac, & I think Nate K play Hendrix - so it *does* happen : ) ...& Irwin when the drummers did the 'People Who Only Need a Beat' drummer summit shows (cause he extolls Mitch Mitchell, which is quite right!)
...duh, I get confused w/ Richard Dawkins, the atheist (?)
...What Jherweg? I'm ☆ing this show - great stuff...
  4:58am
Mark:

I'm sure they have, just not while I was tuned in. I have a pretty good Hendrix collection anyway, but it's always a thrill to know others are listening to him too!

I signed up to faceborg last week (practical communication reasons) - & joined a Hendrix group or two, & all the time get to see lotsa pics I've never seen before & be a Hendrix nerd in discussions...
