Ngozi Family sounding like BIG PINK era Band, kinda.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38am
Nate K:

Sem, interesting take. I'm obsessed with that Ngozi Family record.

Great stuff, Nate, and good afternoon from the UK. Just a pedantic pronunciation matter: "Chiswick" (part of West London) sounds like "Chizzick". Sorry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35am
Sem Chumbo:

Yeah! Sloan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47am
Nate K:

@Violet, I was just discussing this with a friend last night. I should have known better!
  7:52am
Violet Øbjekt:

It's not easy for incomers to grasp that what looks like "Wor-cester-shire" is pronounced "woostershur". Centuries of accumulated laziness in diction have caused key consonants (like the "w" in "Chiswick") to erode. Eventually, "Chiswick" will just become "Chick"...

...been listening in my sleep, & I feel OK - so I Thank You for that!

...I've heard that since the U.S. is a Colony, we stopped @ what to the British ear is 18thCent. English - & I've always wondered if that is really so & if so how...Was never sure I was pronouncing 'Worcestershire Sauce' (as you do above) quite right either ! - altho' that's pretty much how it's spelled, actually - it's just rolls off the tongue in a manner that makes one doubt oneself...
  8:00am
Violet Øbjekt:

Love this Rail Band. Hadn't heard any electric music from 70s Mali before. Beautiful.

Violet Øbjekt:

Worcestershire sauce indeed rolls off your tongue if you're not eating carefully.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- or you just don't like it
...the Chiswick 'W' is one you just either know or don't (I didn't so have pronounced the Label wrong)...wigkey say: 'Chiswick was first recorded c.1000 as Ceswican; the name "Chiswick" is of Old English origin meaning "Cheese Farm" ' - which probably applies to others Labels a great deal more...
  8:07am
Holly Martin:

Nice tune.
  8:08am
Violet Øbjekt:

There are two different villages in Devon (SW UK) called "Woolfardisworthy", but pronounced something like "Wuulzery". They've obviously been lazier in their diction down there than in other parts of the country.
  8:08am
marc:

Harry Lime: Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock. So long Holly.
  8:09am
Rick:

Orson Welles directed Touch of Evil. Great to hear Anton Karas, incidentally.

39 Clocks! Yesss!
  8:14am
luh3417:

The Trial was so much like the book which is quite a feat of directing & Welles was great as the defence counsel.
