Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Sean in Bristol UK:

@Van, are you hearing any rumours on the grapevine about a release date of the dvd?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Irene Trudel:

Hi Everybody here in the US, UK, Italy and elsewhere! Hope you're all having a great day. Happy November & happy birthday Bert Jansch. @Sean, Todd Rundgren was really great! Played almost 2 hours last night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm DCE:

I've never heard this version with the drums
Avatar 12:15pm Van in DC:

Fleetwood Mac played 3 hours Friday night :)

@Sean - I've heard rumors regarding possible Xmas presents for KaTe fans about a DVD...
  12:17pm don d:

GREAT documentary about The Mekons---Revenge of the Mekons..
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Sean in Bristol UK:

If memory serves me, a documentary about The Mekons opened over in The US last week?
  12:18pm mary:

Revenge of the Mekons film at Film Forum. a must see.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Ah, Don, you answered my question,
Avatar 12:19pm Sem Chumbo:

Just perfect opening for this early November afternoon here, where Fall arrived with a vengeance overnight. Good afternoon, Irene, and hello all, everywhere.
  12:23pm KP:

Thanks, Mary
Avatar 12:26pm kat330:

Happy Birthday, Bert!

TODD! Thank you, Irene.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Webhamster Henry:

I wonder if UP AGAINST IT (The Musical Rundgren wrote this song for) has been remounted recently?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Sean in Bristol UK:

and my favourite Todd album, awesome!
Avatar 12:37pm kat330:

He has such a true and powerful falsetto range.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Webhamster Henry:

This song was important in the Amiga Computer community because Todd made a 3d music video for this using Lightwave/Video Toaster software and Hardware BY HIMSELF.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Webhamster Henry:

Avatar 12:41pm Cecile:

nice seg, Irene! Laura was a big influence on Todd.
Avatar 12:42pm kat330:

Sounds as though she was an influence on KaTe as well.
Avatar 12:42pm Cecile:

Avatar 12:43pm Van in DC:

Yeah she was KaTe before KaTe :)
Avatar 12:44pm kat330:

Don't believe I've heard this one before, one where she stays in her upper range for most all the song.
Avatar 12:44pm Cecile:

what's interesting is that Todd was a young man who was already quite a veteran in the music biz, and Laura made him do a 180 turn in terms of his songwriting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Ken From Hyde Park:

We sang "Who Can I Turn To" in high school choir.
Avatar 12:47pm mauri:

Hey Irene and all.

@Henry good info. I owned an amiga.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Webhamster Henry:

The Pop Lyric Blockbusters keep coming, Irene!
Avatar 12:52pm kat330:

Yes, from written by Newley to sounding like a Newley production.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Irene Trudel:

Todd's a very inventive guy, @Henry. He was in good voice last night. @kat, Laura Nyro is one of my all-time favorite singers. Such an amazing vocal range and depth of songwriting. She and Todd may have been a couple at one point.
  12:55pm don d:

Todd's song "Baby Let's Swing" on Runt, his 1st solo album, directly addresses Laura. I think he might have been 22 and head over heels...
Avatar 12:55pm kat330:

@Irene: Oh, thanks for the extra 411 tidbit!
Avatar 12:59pm kat330:

Sheerly lovely Shearwater -- game, match and set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm mariano:

Yaaaay! Numbers stations!
Avatar 1:00pm Chris from DC:

Love me some Conet Project.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm mariano:

Now I have my weekly orders from my spymasters!
Avatar 1:04pm Cecile:

It sounds like he had a crush on her, but what seems to be true is that Nyro asked Todd to be her bandleader which he had to turn down, and he helped her finish her last albujm.
Avatar 1:11pm kat330:

Only Nyro I knew: And When I Die, Eli's Comin', Stoned Soul Picnic, Up on the Roof and Wedding Bell Blues. So thanks muchly, Irene, for that Captain track.
Avatar 1:11pm Van in DC:

Nice autumn tune here
Avatar 1:17pm kat330:

First though Pastorius. When I looked up Kaphan, I found this text: "With a ton of due respect to Jaco Pastorius..."

Interview with Todd on Laura:
Avatar 1:28pm kat330:

In the category of ace bassist, it helps having "Bruce" in your name somewhere.
Avatar 1:29pm Cecile:

oh! didn't he pass on this weekend?
Avatar 1:30pm Cecile:

whoops last week.
Avatar 1:33pm kat330:

Yep, Cecile, a week ago Saturday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks for the link, Cecile!
Avatar 1:41pm Cecile:

1966 (Great San Bernadino Birthday Party)
  2:04pm KP:

As is this one
  2:06pm KP:

Cecile, definitely
  2:07pm KP:

Regarding the long day
  2:10pm KP:

What is Food
  2:13pm don d:

The 1st ELO album, the only one with Roy Wood, was called 'No Answer' in the USA. It is the only ELO album worth mentioning. Lynne's songs were very good and Roy could no wrong, at least up until that album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Irene Trudel:

Food is something to eat. :) It's also a band that put out a really great album in 1969. Members included Steve White on vocals, Bill Wukovich on guitar/vocals, Eric Scott Filipowich on bass, Barry Mraz on drums and Ted Ashford on keyboards.
Avatar 2:14pm Cecile:

I like some of the other ELO quite a bit. And the first couple of Roy solo joints were pretty special, too.
  2:14pm don d:

"I am the Tall Tree". I am the Tree ain't a bad song either, thanks to GBV...Long Live The Flock- great 1st album....where is Fred Glickstein these days...
Avatar 2:16pm Cecile:

I am a Tree was a song by one of Doug Gillard's early band, Gem.
  2:17pm don d:

Cecile- Boulders was great (most of those songs were pre the ELO album). Mustard has some moments but by Wizzard his writing got safe and mostly uninteresting. His stuff with The Move almost w/o peer during that period.
  2:18pm don d:

Didn't that Cecile about I am a tree-will look for it- great song on a great GBV album...
Avatar 2:18pm Cecile:

that I agree with. And also Eddy and the Falcons has some pretty sweet moments.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Irene Trudel:

I have to disagree don d. I quite like a number of the later ELO albums, just not quite as much as the first.
Avatar 2:20pm Cecile:

Here's Gem:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Carmichael:

Hiya Irene. Can you tell us who was in Todd's band, if anyone? I can't seem to find the info anywhere.
Avatar 2:25pm Cheri Pi:

Chris Butler was in the crowd at Kent State that got fired onl
Avatar 2:27pm Cecile:

Yeah. Weren't some members of Devo there as well?
A horrifying day. I was a kid when it happened, but old enough to know what was going on.
Avatar 2:28pm Cheri Pi:

Yeah, Jerry Casale was there.
  2:29pm don d:

I loved Lynne's writing but I just think it got progressively more commercial post Move. Thanks Cecile for 'Gem'- will check out but ONLY after I Tru is off air....some things remain sacred...
Avatar 2:29pm Cecile:

of course, don!

  2:52pm Alison in the UK:

love this show. thank you.
Avatar 2:54pm kat330:

In North Hollywood, CA, I lived on Morrison St., which had a gym with a van often parked in front. Then I moved to Denny Ave., where our garden soil was very sandy.
Avatar 2:54pm Sem Chumbo:

Sandy, and now some A-list banjo and Ms. Washburn. That, and the hail outside, just about rounds out the afternoon. Thank you kindly, Irene, lovely altogether.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Brian in UK:

Yes, the skelington indeed.

Two years since Sandy struck too.
Swag For Life Member 2:56pm 12539:

Thanks, Irene!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Thank you Irene, three wonderful hours!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Irene Trudel:
