Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm sphere:

Avatar 3:10pm 1010w:

Fab you ever heard that band "Skeleton Breath"? Local Westchester band, drums, bass, violin. Weird jazzy tempos. Sorta spooky
  3:14pm P-90:

Fabio! Mio paisano! Ciao fratello!
E Buongiorno a tutti amici!
Avatar 3:16pm Bayta:

Anyone else having playlist updating issues today? Playlist is empty so far here. And even with BLT's show before this, my playlist was updating with a huge delay.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm sphere:

me too, Bayta.
Avatar 3:19pm Bayta:

I wonder if it has anything to do with Ken disabling the playlist auto-update for the video experiment yesterday..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm DCE:

mine's been working jus' fine
Avatar 3:19pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

am witchu now.
lets get floaty.

  3:20pm P-90:

"Prendi la mia mano Senor Uomo Gigante!"

Um, If Fabio has been updating, I'm getting a delay too, I have zero playlist so far. And I'm on a fancy desktop with high speed dsp today. Maybe Ken's video "experiment" yesterday damaged the internet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm DCE:

Colin Stetson?
Avatar 3:23pm Bayta:

You tell us, DCE. You're the one with a working playlist. Sure sounds like him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm sphere:

my playlist just updated.
  3:23pm P-90:

OK, three listings just popped up (3:23 EST)

  3:45pm Jonathan Herweg:

Hey Fabio!
Avatar 3:46pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

HEY, thanks Ike.
No idea when. I'll be driving like a crazy bastid from the festival in Maine that day, so it may be a dramatic spazzy entrance...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm coelacanth:

i'm VERY stoked to hear that,V Priceless.
Avatar 3:46pm V Priceless:

(4AD has the track listing - there's one entitled "Brando")
  3:47pm Jonathan Herweg:

What was your bed music just now??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Fabio:

Vampires Underground
  3:53pm Jonathan Herweg:

  3:56pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

Cool:) sounds like what you hear on William burgers show my castle of quiet:-)
  3:58pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

Sounds like a recording of the bowels of HELL! I feel at home hearing it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm sphere:

Pandemonium is the capital of Hell in Paradise Lost, so i think you've got something.
  4:02pm TOBOR3:

Idea--record sound at the same place, ideally a city, same time every year for a few years, same equipment. Ever been done?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm DCE:

happy little oscillators...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm DCE:

this guy is a good friend of mine...he moved back to CLE in the last year.

  4:15pm P-90:

Agreed. Too much flute, not enough cowbell.
  4:16pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

Oh that's a shame:( Fabio ended the record. I liked the sound
  4:18pm TOBOR3:

I been to the Yunque in Puerto Rico. Very very tres beautiful.
  4:19pm Son-ra:

What do you recommend by Sun Araw?
  4:20pm Jonathan Herweg:

I like sun Arawaks when they were a duo, it was plain and simple psyche, now it feels like they are overthinking it. I like their early 12 inch stuff on not not fun .
  4:20pm Jonathan Herweg:

Sun araw..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Marcel M:

Hello people! Hello Fabio!
  4:21pm Jonathan Herweg:

Stupid fucking spell correct.
  4:22pm TOBOR3:

Jim Thompson! Orson Welles! I must rent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Marcel M:

This is pretty funny background music for Fabio!
  4:23pm KP:

It's been pointed out the clown masks worn in the Killing are quite similar to those utilized in A Clockwork Orange. Among other things
Avatar 4:24pm Bryant:

LEVEL FIVE is moving to Cinema Village tomorrow.
  4:24pm TOBOR3:

@Marcel--Have you ever been to Marseille?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Marcel M:

@TOBOR3: No, unfortunately, I have not.
  4:26pm P-90:

"The Killing" is basically a Warner Brothers-style B-movie noir, there's nothing unusual or innovative in the story or even the dialog. Yet...it is filled with little Kubrickian tweaks that transform the material in his unmistakable way.
  4:26pm TOBOR3:

Merci Marcel.
Avatar 4:26pm Captain Sunday:

Not enough talking. Please, more.
Avatar 4:27pm Chris from DC:

P-90, his first movie right?
  4:29pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

Hey wait! I think I saw that film "force of evil"
  4:29pm TOBOR3:

au revoir mes amis.
  4:30pm P-90:

Not Kubrock's first feature but the first with a union cast and crew, independently produced but released through a major studio, United Artists I think
  4:31pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

Wasn't that movie all about a wife who was married to Garfield and was a practicing witch???
  4:32pm P-90:

"KubrIck"!!! Stanley Kubrock was a Stone age director who often used locations in the town of Bedrock...
  4:39pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

I remember seeing Garfield in one movie where his wife was a witch and he made her destroy all her magical instruments And then all sorts of bad things befell them
  4:39pm Barney Rubble:

Fred! I must watch "Eyes Wide Shut" again.
  4:40pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

Im 47 and sadly spent 30 plus years of my life vegetating in front of the tv I should know this like the back of my hand
  4:44pm P-90:

"I Married A Witch" 1942
  4:45pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

@P-90 I thought it was "the demon" 1959
  4:46pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

Hey:) great more sounds from hell:)
Avatar 4:46pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I have a lobby-card for I MARRIED A WITCH framed in the liv.rm. Spouse enthusiastically approved.
  4:47pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

Fabio is channeling William burger and professor dum dum today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Marcel M:

So Oren Ambarchi play with Haino and O'Malley. He was incredible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Marcel M:

  4:48pm P-90:

Do you mean "Curse of the Demon" with Dana Andrews (1957)?
  4:49pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

I can't watch "full metal jacket" because the fat kid getting abused would be me:(
  4:49pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

@P-90 I think that's it
  4:53pm moose:

hello from the m11 bus I rarely listen live these days hello but I always listen
Avatar 4:57pm northguineahills:

W00! Vibracatherdral Orchestra!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Carmichael:

If Fab was chenneling the preofessor, he would be ranting insanely between the Fucktards selections.
Avatar 5:04pm Chris from DC:

  5:04pm SeanG:

Avatar 5:06pm kat330:

Perilously close to flute sounds there, DJ beware.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Carmichael:

Avatar 5:08pm Philo Gristle:

Vibracathedral Orchestra sounded like a cross between Faust and Third Ear Band. Starred.
  5:12pm doofus:

I'm ducking for cover...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Fabio:

No, I am not.
  5:15pm doofus:

By Martin Black Lander "Under the paving stone (yet Again) Is the beach" is the German translation.
Avatar 5:19pm northguineahills:

Hmmmm, I have some field recordings I made from Mexico City 2011 in the drawer next to me.
Avatar 5:20pm Chris from DC:

Beersies and then Daniel Bachman in store. Laters.
Avatar 5:23pm Philo Gristle:

They throb. You'll ooze. Praise Bob.
Avatar 5:24pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

ooh, back in the headphones in time for golden oldies. Slug Bait-ICA made my 9th grade year worth living.
  5:24pm P-90:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Carmichael:

You go, Chris! I'll hold down the fort. Then I'll go for beersies.
Avatar 5:29pm kat330:

Guess there's no stopping the "beersies" train at this point, sigh. That ship has sailed and just keeps on sailing ...
Avatar 5:32pm kat330:

@P-90: So what handful of SF films from the 50s-60s do you think make the A-list (to cont. an old discussion)? Philo and I disagree about the original "The Fly," which I find not so much a B film, and he's on the fence about it.
Avatar 5:32pm northguineahills:

Beersies o'clock? ok!
Avatar 5:33pm Philo Gristle:

Got to see faust in Finland back in '01 maybe (concert released as 'Land of Ukko' and something)... interesting, but didn't recognize any 'tunes'. Wish I'd seen them in 70s in London with facing pinball machines.
Avatar 5:36pm Philo Gristle:

FLY is great and love it, but somehow seems a bit B-grade when compared to Forbidden Planet, Day the Earth Stood Still et al. Never saw Night of the Demon, oddly enough. Lon Chaney Jr. in Witch Woman kinda fits the earlier discussed bill alongside I Married a Witch.
Avatar 5:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...okay...hear Julian Cope being into this
...this is a service FMU has always provided me: the actual Audio to stuff I only read about...
Avatar 5:38pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Faust completely tore up DC back in 2009 at the sonic circuits fest. A very lovely time.
Avatar 5:39pm Philo Gristle:

@RRR Yeh, that's where I read about the Pinball Machines & Faust. Fan of Cope's later stuff and writings.
Avatar 5:40pm The Bonz:

shookie woonookied!
Avatar 5:40pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Jean-Herve = completely swell dude as well.
Avatar 5:41pm Philo Gristle:

I seem to recall Jean-Herve was not in the band when I saw them. Splinter cell, maybe.
Avatar 5:43pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 5:44pm Philo Gristle:

Thought it sounded like Magma.
Avatar 5:46pm kat330:

Certainly replicates spewing, ejectile material.
Avatar 5:46pm Philo Gristle:

Damn. I have this on lp and it's my favorite piece by the band. *shame* Been 15-20 years since I listened to it.
Avatar 5:47pm kat330:

Grounded guitar though.
Avatar 5:48pm Captain Sunday:

KAT lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm dale:

1974. same year as james taylor and carly simon doing mockingbird. and how much money did they make vs. magma? blows my mind.
  5:49pm ScottC:

Hey Fabio - bad day but this is helping TREMENDOUSLY....
Avatar 5:49pm Captain Sunday:

@dale, in all fairness it's hard to hum this to your child
  5:51pm P-90:

Hi @kat & @Philo: I love The Fly, I have always loved it, seen it dozens of times, including a couple of theatrical screenings at revival houses etc. It's an extraordinarily well-structured, well written story (screenplay by James "Shogun" Clavell) and a finely-made film. The protagonist is not the scientist/fly guy, it's his wife; Patricia Owens' spot-on performance may be one of the most overlooked, underrated acting jobs by an actress in a Hollywood film. It's really the story of a woman trying to save her husband.
But: I don't include it in the "Big Five". It's in the handful that round out the top ten, along with Them and When Worlds Collide.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm dale:

true, cappy sunday. but i'd like to see someone try.
Avatar 5:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...'Try Whistling This' as BrianWilson said (& hence NeilFinn)....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm dale:

THEM! one of my favorites.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Carmichael:

Hey, where's that hard-rockin' hippie that usually hangs around there about this time?
Avatar 5:54pm kat330:

@P-90: You nailed it on why I *would* put "The Fly" (original -- Goldblum made me laugh in all the wrong places in the remake) on a handful list. It affected me so greatly as a kid. Reminding me we watched on Sunday the old B film chestnut that sealed my arachnophobia: "Tarantula" with Topper. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Davis:

them, the ants-- that is amazing-- i was about 14 when i saw that-- wild
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm dale:

giant gila monster was another good one of that atomic era warning ilk
  5:55pm nic:

great show thx !!!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Carmichael:

There he is!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm dale:

rose of cimarron! good tune
  5:57pm P-90:

The "Big Five" in NO particular order:
Forbidden Planet
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
The Thing
War of the Worlds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Cubicle Carl:

poke what?
Avatar 5:57pm V Priceless:

yummy! zucchini flowers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm dale:

i never got zuchinni flowers. wouldn't you rather have the squash it would become?
Avatar 5:59pm Philo Gristle:

@P-90 It's hard to balance on that edge between what you like and what you consider 'great.' I love THEM and IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE more than I do, say, WAR OF THE WORLDS and would always rather watch either one of those again over it. But as far as importance and significance and all that jazz, WotW runs roughshod over them. Despite Ray Bradbury writing for ICFOC. But then again I love ROBOT MONSTER too, so my critical faculties are probably fried.
Avatar 5:59pm northguineahills:

Man, fun times, Fabio!
Avatar 5:59pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...not sure I've actually *seen* 'Invaders from Mars' - only (again!) read about...I missed Cowboys & Raccoon Caps & Ozzie&Harriet by a few years too...
Avatar 6:00pm kat330:

Thanks, Fabio -- you made Mr. Gristle throb with your choices!
Avatar 6:01pm Philo Gristle:

Indeed, last set was killer. Thanks, Fabio & gang.
