Daniel Blumin played some of this Andy Haas last night.
Great stuff....
Avatar 3:06pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Scott Williams:

Dan'l Blumin is highly respected in these parts. G'day all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Ike:

Daniel Blumin's show is always outstanding. You weekday workday-only listeners ought to archive-spring onto that program mucho-expressingly every week.
Avatar 3:20pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

i go a-blumin' whenever possible. Always a delight. Endorsed.
Avatar 3:25pm thedunkel:

Holy Cake Balls!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Ike:

To turn in a more controversial direction, Television is now the opener for Arcade Fire at the bizarre monstrosity called Barclays Center in Bklyn in a few days. Whaaa? (Commence yr potshots at the fucking righteous Arcade Fire now, if you must, but this clearly shows excellent taste on their part at the very least, no?)

Avatar 3:29pm Chris from DC:

This is nice, but will there be more cake?
  3:30pm steve:

did I miss a cake poem reading ??!?!
Avatar 3:31pm Bayta:

Severed Heads!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Scott Williams:

follow the linky, friends - 160 versions of Cake for your DL pleasure
Avatar 3:33pm Cecile:

Both Lloyd and Verlaine are involved?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Stanley:

Way-hey! Howard Jones gave me the name Stanley. We were at school together. (My one and only claim to fame)
  3:33pm Howard Jones:

Hey I know this song. I just Shazamed it.
  3:34pm Robert:

Until now I'd thought "Cake" to have been a mere invention of Kenny G.'s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Stanley:

Howard, how are you?
Avatar 3:35pm Cecile:

Because I remember Lloyd saying "never again" after the last reunion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm sphere:

i always had a secret fondness for the bassline to "No One Ever Is To Blame."
  3:36pm steve:

I only know Vicki's reading of the cake poem, but it is magic. it could heal the sick.
  3:36pm Howard Jones:

I'm Howard. That's HOW I am LOL :)
Avatar 3:37pm Cecile:

If you have "No" by the Associates floating around, that would be awesome to hear.
Avatar 3:38pm thedunkel:

More cake?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm sphere:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Davis:

or i'm never going to cry again by the eurythmics

Avatar 3:43pm Cecile:

I finally "got" them, and am now obsessed.
  3:43pm r i s k y:

Oh I do miss Kenny G.
Caught him on the street and expressed my #1 fandom to him. A nice man he.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Davis:

big soul
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Ike:

No clue @Cecile. I'm not as well-versed on current state of Television as on the current state of television. But Dan Deacon will be there too! Holy crap! Aw, dang, that's the same night as our delightful Rev. Turnip Druid with Pas Musique at Prospect Range in Bklyn. I'll go see the Reverend instead.
Avatar 3:46pm Cecile:

I think Alan Rankine is the great forgotten post-punk guitar player. Few could keep up with Billy in the first place and he did it with style.
  3:48pm bloopy:

always nice to wake up on tuesday morning to scott!
Avatar 3:48pm Chris from DC:

They should add Pas Musique to that Television show.
Avatar 3:51pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm Scott Williams:

Oh hey, Faye!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Carmichael:

My colleagues from the great state of FMU, I want to go on record as formally endorsing your endorsement of the esteemed Mr. Blumin. I had to purchase a new pair of tight-fitting, dayglo green, thigh-high dancypants just to move along to his fine grooves. All those in favor say "aye".
  4:19pm Brendan:

Nat is smooth even in breakup.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm steve:

hell yes, love Blumin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Davis:

Nat breaks my heart a little bit more though

Manila is not a color. It's a thing: it's a strong paper. I say forget the art department and stick to your guns.

  5:00pm P-90:

Finally back in the 'phones myself. Dancing Ghosts hits the spot.
Hi DJ Scott and everyone.
Avatar 5:10pm Jeff:

Denial is a river in Egypt, and Manila is a city in the Philippines.
Avatar 5:10pm Chris from DC:

Audiodafe. I like that.
  5:16pm P-90:

Yes: "Audiodafe", great name
  5:17pm DJ Stashu:

I stand corrected: Manilla is not a stronger paper. It's a cheaper paper (According to Wikipeedia) it's generally used for child art and in some fashion schools to create finalized clothing patterns. Or playlists.
  5:19pm P-90:

......and the perennially ubiquitous "manilla envelope" ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Davis:

which is brown
Avatar 5:21pm Cecile:

what the hell is this?
Avatar 5:21pm Cecile:

I like manila ice cream.
Avatar 5:23pm Sem Chumbo:

I liked the Thrilla in Manila.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm steve:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm steve:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm Davis:

  5:26pm P-90:

Avatar 5:32pm Marcel M:

Enjoying the show Scott! Glad I got to get home early and catch the last hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Scott Williams:

I'd say 1975 was his tailor. Hey Marcel! thanks for checking in
Avatar 5:33pm ironybread:

Holy crapping CHRIST, I was just listening to the entire Mystery Tapes catalog over the weekend. John Oswald on saxophone FTW! Didn't know this saw release outside of the Mystery Tapes.
  5:35pm P-90:

Thanks for the links Scott.
Always hearing someone/thing here that I should heave heard of before, but didn't
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Carmichael:

That sounded pretty dancypants right there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 5:38pm ironybread:

...to elucidate: "60-Cycle Hum" is a featured piece on one of Oswald's Mystery Lab tapes, "Spoors" I believe (circa 1982). Lotsa Mystery Tapes available from Detritus.net.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Scott Williams:

tanx for the tip, @ironybread! indeed, Oswald on sax on that track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Blumin maintains the Krell Labs (maybe he hates me saying that) - hell - the whole SundayEve here is an Exceptional Refuge....
Avatar 5:47pm Bayta:

Ooh what is this? Me like very much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Carmichael:

I'm always BBQing while listening to Daniel. It's come to be a family tradition ...
Avatar 5:49pm Bayta:

What does it mean when it says someone's Marathon Premium?
  5:49pm Secret Person:

Thank you Williams for pulling us through these very difficult Monday hours. Bye!
Avatar 5:50pm northguineahills:

Man, that Fulbe Cowherders from Birkina Faso track was like a Phil Minton choir.
Avatar 5:51pm ironybread:

This isn’t apropos of anything, but WFMU listeners are advised that if you haven’t seen the Scott Walker doc “30 Century Man”, you should. I can’t shake the image of someone’s English grandmother being whisked away to Mars in 1973 and then coming back in 2013 and seeing the new Scott Walker CD in a store and going “It’s our Scott! Oh, I loved his movie songs album! I wonder what the dear boy’s been up to,” and listening to “Epizootics” as her head explodes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Carmichael:

@Bayta, every DJ makes a special CD to give away to anyone who pledges $ to FMU during the marathon. Most are great, some are sensational.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Scott Williams:

@Bayta, it's CDs put together by DJs here as goodies for listeners who pledge to our various radio shows during fundraising time. a true trove of delights
Avatar 5:52pm Bayta:

Ah nice. I was going to pledge during the next marathon anyway, but now I have even more of an incentive to do so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Carmichael:

There's nothing like the thrill of seeing a big bag of swag on your porch with a return address of WFMU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm steve:

i just got my new Swag for Life WFMU magnet! i affixed it to my favorite magnetic surface.
Avatar 5:58pm northguineahills:

Thanks Scott. Awesome as per usual!
  10:00am trixysanti:
